Chapter 30 Mikayla didnât bother arguing with Jerome. She asked, âHave you reached a decision? Which will you sign?â
âItâs not easy to make a decision.â Jerome picked the documents up from the table and drawled, âThus, I plan to let Grandpa a look. Maybe he can offer me good advice.â
âYou donât have to choose anymore!â Mikayla reached out to stop him. âIâll leave without a penny.â
Jerome looked down at her. âBut Iâm the wrongdoer in the marriage. If you take me to court, Iâd have to give you more than 100 million dollars. Grandpa wouldnât want to see you get the short end of the stick, would he?â
Mikayla was speechless. That asshole was using her words against her!
Jerome now had the higher ground. Him just standing in front of her made her feel pressured.
Pissed off, she stood up on the sofa. Looking down at Jerome, she barked, âDivorce is between the two of us. Youâre insane if you take this to Grandpa!â
Jerome was clearly a head shorter than her now, but he was still just as imposing.
âSince you genuinely want to get divorced, why donât you have the courage to tell him?â
âI-âMikayla choked on her words.
Indeed, she didnât dare to tell Eduard.
Eduard had high blood pressure and wouldnât be able to withstand anything shocking.
Before this, sheâd tested the waters and mentioned divorce, and Eduard had become worried sick. If Jerome brought the two sets of divorce papers to him, he might actually be sick from the anger.
She planned to wait for the dust to settle and then find suitable time to bring it up to Eduard.
By that time, she would be able to prove that she could still live a happy life even after divorce Then, sheâd coquettishly ask for his forgiveness, and heâd be able to make peace with it.
Seeing Mikayla seethe with anger but not being able to say anything, Jeromeâs eyes filled Chapter 30 with scorn.
âCould it be that you never truly wanted to get divorced? Youâre just using this as a front to prove your importance to me?â
âNo way! I just want to get divorced quietly!â
Jerome sneered. âMikayla, you canât have it both ways in this world. You canât break free from the bindings of marriage and get your piece of the pie at the same time.â
Mikayla could hear the underlying meaning in his words.
The Davidsonsâ main business was in perfumes, but they still had many relations and interactions with the Miller Group.
Many brands only agreed to collaborate with the Davidsons because of their relationship with the Millers.
One move would trigger a domino effect.
If news of her divorce got out, it would affect the Davidsonsâ business.
Although this wasnât the reason Mikayla didnât want Grandpa to find out, Jeromeâs words still made her pause.
Sheâd always thought of marriage a simple thing. Since she didnât love him anymore, then she should divorce him. However, sheâd forgotten a very real problem.
âLast time, if Grandma hadnât stopped us, we wouldâve divorced long ago. So why are you refusing to sign the papers now?â Mikayla asked.
Jeromeâs face was indifferent. âI donât have the free time to listen to you cry wolf.â
Mikayla suddenly felt helpless. âWhat would it take for you to believe that Iâm not playing with you and that I really want to get divorced?â
âIf you get both our families together and discuss this in an amicable and peaceful way.â
Mikayla was at a loss for words.
She could try to convince Eduardo, but her uncle, Stephen Davidson, and her aunt, Matilda Thomas, would never agree.
âJerome, why do you have to complicate things? Donât you want to get divorced quickly so that you can make things official with Kylie?â
