In the chamber, Jerome was seated on the bench. His hand was pressed against his forehead. Furrowing his brows, Jerome appeared visibly unwell.
As Mike was about to greet Jerome, he observed Mikayla make her way to Jerome from the dining table. She held a towel with one hand while the other was hidden beneath it.
Mike tactfully stayed silent. He watched Mikayla tenderly dab Jeromeâs forehead with the towel.
Before he could marvel at Mikaylaâs tenderness, he witnessed her pretend to toss something into Jeromeâs collar accidentally.
Jerome was startled by the sudden touch on his skin. He immediately sat up straight.
Everyone in the room was drawn to the abrupt commotion.

Mikayla said awkwardly.
âItâs no big deal, though. You donât have to be embarrassed! Weâre all family here. Nobodyâs going to mock you. Isnât that right, Auntie?â
Mikayla expressed genuine concern for Jerome.
âAbsolutely! Itâs common to feel like youâre dreaming when youâve had too. much to drink. Itâs totally normal.â
The woman nodded repeatedly upon being addressed.
Jerome had enough of hearing them talk. He walked toward the door with a grim expression.
Connorâs smile faded as he respectfully offered, âMr. Miller, the carâs waiting. Do you need any help?â
Jerome shot him a steely look and swiftly strode out.
Connor followed along.
Mikayla grabbed her purse. She apologized as she bid farewell to the crowd.

Mikayla burst into laughter as soon as she entered the car.
âMikayla!â
Jeromeâs face darkened as he coldly accused, âHow dare you play tricks on me?
âSo you can play tricks on me, but Iâm not allowed to do the same?â
Jerome faltered and looked at Mikayla.
âHa-â
As Jerome sat up straight, Mikayla let out a chuckle when she caught sight of the stain on his pants.
The driver was in a puzzled state. Meanwhile, Mike busied himself, recalling all the unfortunate events in his life to refrain from laughing..
âCut it out!â
Jerome furiously grabbed Mikaylaâs wrist, prompting Mikayla to feel a surge of pain. She sensed Jeromeâs evident anger. She was aware that it was wise to cease her laughter.
However, as she recalled the disbelief and hesitant look of the crowd, she couldnât contain herself any longer. She then broke into laughter.
