Taylor manufactured a sinister .
Try playing games with me, and Iâll make you regret it. Even if it means breaking the law!â
Taylorâs threatening demeanor and the approaching bodyguard caused Mikayla to feel a tinge of regret.
Mikayla had been overly confident. She had assumed her knowledge of her past life could secure a deal with Taylor.
What she hadnât done was delve into Taylorâs true character.
Now that he turned hostile, Mikayla wondered how she could escape.
She weighed up what would happen if he genuinely tied her up.
Considering Jeromeâs hatred toward her, Mikayla pondered if he would step in.
Even if he did, she was reluctant to be indebted to him.
âGo ahead and hide, but Iâll find you!â
Taylor rose to his feet and walked toward her.
The second floor had been completely cleared by Taylor. It left Mikayla without any hope of help.
âI dare anyone to touch her!â
While Mikayla debated if she should shatter a bottle and use the glass on her neck or Taylorâs as leverage, a chilly voice resonated from behind.
It was Jerome.
Perhaps Mikayla had been mistaken. But at that moment, she noticed a hint of worry flicker across Jeromeâs gaze.
âLook whoâs here! You got here just in time, Mr. Miller. I didnât even get a chance to send you a message!â
Jerome ignored Taylor and directly approached Mikayla.
Furrowing his brows, he asked, âIs everything alright?â
Mikayla nodded.
âLetâs go â
Without saying much, Jerome indicated Mikayla to leave with him.
Taylorâs bodyguards abruptly blocked their path.
âMr. Miller, the matter hasnât been settled yet, and youâre leaving already?â
Jerome gazed at him with a chilly edge.
âWell, I do intend to have you clarify the reason for abducting my wife.â
As Jerome spoke, two imposing men in black suits approached and stood beside him.
Considering the numbers and strength, Taylorâs lone bodyguard was clearly disadvantaged.
Mikayla didnât expect Jeromeâs arrival, let alone with reinforcements.
âMr. Miller! You seemed to have come prepared. By the way, do you know who owns this bar?â Taylor remarked with an ambiguous smile.
A sense of unease crept within Mikayla.
She evaluated if Jeromeâs two bodyguards would be enough if Taylor did indeed own the bar.
Mikayla began feeling worried as she recalled the previous car accident.
She considered where the safest place to hide would be if they were to erupt into a fight.
Mistaking Mikaylaâs concern for his own Jerome clasped Mikaylaâs hand.
Despite feeling uneasy with the sudden touch, Mikayla refrained from pulling away. It wasnât the moment to fuss about such trivial matters âThe Blue familyâs got properties all over. Owning a bar is no surprise,â Jerome stated calmly.
âThink you can just walk out of here, Mr. Miller?â Taylor asked.
His voice held a taunting edge.
Jerome displayed a composed yet subtle smile.
âYou might want to go downstairs and see for yourself.â
Upon hearing that, Taylorâs expression shifted. He quickly moved forward, glancing down the hall through the transparent partition.
The onceâcrowded hall was now deserted. The staff of the bar was all lined up, and the bodyguards were tied up, kneeling on the ground.
A group of wellâtrained men stood in the middle. Each of them was dressed in black. They appeared imposing and poised.
âYouâve got some nerve, Jerome. Bringing your boys here to mess with my place!â
Taylor was seething with anger.
Jerome glanced back indifferently.
âDonât you try to target my wife again. Next time, it wonât just be your place that gets disrupted!â
With that being said, Jerome grabbed Mikaylaâs hand and swiftly left.
âIâll let you slide this time, Jerome. But this isnât over!â Taylor yelled from behind
