Chapter 57 hearing his words, Mikayla didnât react with her usual embarrassment Instead, she asked him seriously, âYou have a close relationship with Jerome, ? Can you convince him?â
Maintaining his aloof demeanor, Connor replied, âIâm tight with Jerome, but thereâs no way I can convince him to like you.â
â
mean, can you persuade him to sign the divorce agreement?â
âAbsolutely notâhuh?â
Connor had thought Mikayla would continue pleading. He was taken aback by her question.
âA divorce agreement? You mean Jerome wants to divorce you?â
âI want to divorce him.â
Mikayla corrected herself while handing the thermos to Connor.
She retrieved a divorce agreement from her bag and said, âHowever your manage it, as long as you can get him to sign, Iâll be very grateful.â
âYou, Iâ¦
Connor felt as though his brain had just come to a screeching halt.
He was confused as to what was going on. He was perplexed over Mikayla being one to seek the divorce and wondered why she had a divorce agreement on hand.
At that moment, Connor suddenly caught a familiar scent from Mikayla.
He sniffed and shivered!
The blanket in Jeromeâs office had the same fragrance. It was faint but unmistakable.
So, was the blanket that Jerome asked him to take Mikaylaâs Then, could Jeromeâs recent emotional troubles be related to Mikayla?
âI canât take this!
Seeing that Mikayla was about to hand him the divorce agreement as well, Connor quickly dodged like it was a hot potato.
âI donât know you well. I canât help you with anything!â
With that said, Connor returned the thermos to Mikayla and darted away.
Mikayla sighed.
She put away the agreement and continued walking toward the lobby.
The receptionist greeted her warmly, as usual.
Mikayla took the elevator to the office unaccompanied by anyone.
Mike was probably informed by the front desk, so he wasnât surprised by her arrival. He gestured that Jerome was resting in his inner office.
Mikayla pushed the door open and entered. Jerome was sitting on a single sofa, seemingly asleep.
His head tilted back against the sofa, eyebrows lightly furrowed.
His lips were slightly dry and his breathing was a bit heavy. He looked uncharacteristically weary.
Mikayla never seen Jerome in such a lackluster state. He usually worked like a machine and was capable of pulling consecutive allânighters.
Out of humanitarian concern, Mikayla refrained from waking him up and approached to feel his forehead.
Indeed, he felt a bit warm.
Mikayla to and request to buy medicine.
as she lifted grabbed her hand.
Mikayla her head found Jerome with his eyes already opened. His deep gaze flashed a hint of darkness.
âAre you pretending to sleep?â
Mikayla shook off his hand, displeased.
Jerome adjusted his sitting position. He was still not looking great.
âMikayla if you are dissatisfied, just spit it out. Donât broadcast the divorce agreement to the world.â
It seemed like Connor had already informed Jerome about what happened earlier.
Well i it was out, so be it.
Mikayla said, âMy biggest dissatisfaction is that you wonât willingly sign the agreement.â
âIs that so?â
Jerome calmly looked at her.
âIsnât it because youâre dissatisfied that this marriage has been oneâsided on your terms â
Mikayla was stunned.
So, her feelings that night were not mistaken. Jerome did hear what she had said to Celeste.
Mikayla admitted candidly, âI was, but now Iâve let it go.â
