ADDY
Two hands wrap around my waist, pulling me against a firm chest.
I tilt my head back to see Asher, his face lit up with a grin thatâs too big to be anything but mischievous.
âWhatâs got you so happy?â I ask, twisting around in his arms.
âJust the fact that youâre here, in my arms.â He plants a kiss on my cheek, making me giggle.
âYouâre such a cheeseball,â I say, fumbling with the hem of his shirt.
âOnly for you, Buttercup. Only for you.â
Iâm about to lean in for another kiss when two voices interrupt us.
âNot in my kitchen, you two!â Kaylee throws us a disgusted look, while Blake smirks.
âI knew you were following her like a lost puppy, even when she was just going to wash her hands.
âYou two have been inseparable since the day you both came to your senses. I want my best friend back!â
âSheâs mine now. Youâve got Blake!â Asher plants another kiss on my cheek.
I roll my eyes at the two goofballs in front of me.
âWeâre not together all the time. And for the record, you two canât complain. You were making out on Asherâs couch yesterday. Donât think I didnât see.â
Kay blushes a deep red at my words before retreating into Blakeâs arms.
âDonât tease my girl, guys.â Blake wraps his arms around Kaylee, smiling.
âYou guys are gross,â Gabe rolls his eyes as he walks into the kitchen, holding two glass cups.
âI told you to bring Irin over. Youâre the one who said no.â Asher chuckles.
âWhy would I bring her?â Gabe grumbles, hopping up onto the counter.
âBecause you canât take your eyes off her whenever sheâs around.â
My words seem to catch him off guard.
âI do not!â he protests, sounding like a child. He jumps down from the counter, throws us all a glare, and stomps out.
Heâs been like this ever since they broke up right before graduation. Itâs been three weeks and heâs still moping around, trailing after her like he did before they got together.
âWho broke up with whom again?â Asher whispers in my ear.
âIrin did. Something about not wanting to do long distance. But heâs still hung up on her, even if he pretends to hate her now. Itâs kind of funny.â
âGood thing she came to her senses, then,â Asher says, and I nod.
We all follow him out of the kitchen, leaving Blake and Kaylee behind, and settle on the couch. Gabe disappears up the stairs and I watch him until heâs out of sight.
âHeâs going to kill us,â I whisper in Asherâs ear, glancing at the clock.
âNah, heâll thank us.â
I kiss his cheek, smiling.
âGod, you make me so happy.â
I grin as I hear his words, snuggling against his chest.
He kisses my cheek.
âYou are so beautiful!â He plants another kiss on my cheek.
âGod, Iâm so lucky!â Asher tilts my head up to kiss my lips, and I kiss back, laughing at him. His hand on my waist slowly travels down, cupping my butt firmly.
I gasp, slapping his hand away before giving him a stern look. âNot here!â
His hands find my butt again as he lifts me up onto his lap, ignoring my protests.
I scramble off quickly, moving to the other side of the couch. Asher whines.
âLater!â I say, winking at him before lying down on the couch, putting my feet in his lap.
He groans, grabbing my small feet with his big hands and massaging them.
âAsher?â
âHmm?â
âI never asked you. Why did you have those videos of me? I thought you never noticed me.â
Asherâs hands freeze.
âButtercupâ¦â
âTell me!â I demand, and he sighs.
âOf course I noticed youâyou were my neighbor. At first, I didnât really care. I wasnât into having girls in my life, even if that sounds strange.â
âSure, Jalina started hanging around me when we started high school, but I didnât really care about that either. I fought a lot, kept mostly to myself, you knowâ¦â
I listen to him speak.
âBut that was also when I started getting interested in you.â
âWhen we started high school? Three years ago?â He nods at me. I stare at him, blushing.
âAlso the time when you started doing weird thingsâ¦â
I kick him with my left foot and he laughs.
âThe video?â
âYeah, right. It was just one of the nights you were planning to go out again. I couldnât sleep that night and I heard strange noises coming from outside my window, something Iâd been hearing for weeks.â
âYouâd been sneaking out for years and I donât know how I didnât notice until then. Anyway, every time I looked out of the window there was nothingâ¦â
I start laughing.
~Holy crap.~
âSo you set up your phone to see what it was?â
He nods at me.
âI was shocked after seeing you in the video the next dayâit made me even more curious about you.â
âYouâre joking!â
He shakes his head at me.
âHow come you didnât follow me into the woods, then?â
âI donât know. All I did was watch you from my room after that.â
I push him with my feet again.
âCreepy!â
âShut up. You canât talk. You were spying on me every chance you got. It was hilarious to watch.â
I let out a groan, making another attempt to kick him. But heâs quick, grabbing my legs and pulling me back towards him. I find myself sitting up next to him once more.
âYou were there that day I messed up my hand!â I point an accusing finger at him, and he gives me a sheepish grin in return.
âHow was I supposed to know youâd start stripping!â
âI wasnât stripping, I was justââ I reach out to pinch his cheek, and he bursts into laughter again.
âAnd then what happened?â
âAnd thenââ He pulls me back into his lap, my legs draped over the right side of his.
âI started paying more attention. I looked for you at school. I laughed at the goofy things you did. I started to like you, but I never found the courage to actually talk to you.â
âIf only you knew I had the biggest crush on you.â
âIf only I knew. And then you kissed me at that party, and I saw it as my chance to make a move.â
âYou mean threaten me!â
He chuckles.
âIâm glad it was you, even though I still donât understand why you ran off that day.â
I roll my eyes at him. âYou shouted before you turned away, and it scared me.â
âI was surprised. It was my first kiss, after all.â
I giggle, leaning in to kiss him again, my hand slowly creeping under his shirt.
âLetâs wait until we get home,â he murmurs, lightly biting my ear. His words send a flush to my cheeks.
âOMG, my eyes!â
I jump away from Asher, turning to see Kaylee and Blake standing right in front of us. I cough, avoiding their gaze as I scoot away from Asher.
âIrinâs here.â Blake points towards the door, and I canât help but grin.
âReally?â
âYeah, she just texted me!â Kaylee waves her hands around excitedly.
âGabe is going to kill us.â
We all burst into laughter.
