Chapter eleven
â± It was a normal day at Royal high with curious eyes followed by low whispers and the elites. Like usual, they were the center of attention. Though, I knew something was wrong once I got a glimpse at the boy who had his head low, a black hoodie over his head. He wasn't the only one who looked off, it was also his group of friends yet they all seem to keep it in check but since I've was once part of their group I've noticed what the others didn't. Like the way Ysabel had looked around the school warily, almost afraid. Also the way Alexandra looked more imitating than usual adding the fact that she has just broke up with her boyfriend, Owen. He wasn't looking good either with his eyes low and lips in a thin line. Next to him was no other than Rory.
I couldn't tell what he was thinking nor feeling, all I've seen was a mask covering all his dark secrets and thoughts. My eyes skipped around until they met Linda. If I knew better, I'd say she was on edge. She was holding her necklace on her hands and twirling it around her fingers 'gracefully'. She walked liked she owned the school and smiled liked she won an award but I've seen past her facade.
I wondered what kind of secret they were hiding this time.
It didn't take long for that secret to be revealed to all of us, well to me.
I've seen sterling walk pass by me but I don't think he had seen me until I pulled his arm to look at me. His hands were stuffed inside his pockets, which he hadn't bother to remove them at all.
"Is something wrong?" I asked when he didn't say anything at all. I know that he was pissed off at me but I couldn't help it.
He stared at me before pulling his arm away from my grip.
"Are you serious?" That's he said before bumping shoulders with me and walking away though I couldn't let him leave just like that. I took two long steps before pulling him to face me again.
"Yes I am, now tell me what's wrong" I haven't notice everyone in the halls were now gone in their classes and it was just me and Sterling. Though, that's what I thought until I've seen him glance behind me. I looked over my shoulder and wasn't surprised to find all of them standing coolly by the lockers.
I rolled my eyes before turning back to Sterling, who was still staring at them.
"Don't look at them, look at me and tell me what's going on, please" I pleaded, trying to get him to trust me.
"Do you really wanna know?" It wasn't sterling who asked me, instead it was someone who I didn't expect. I turned around and looked at the person who had just spoke.
Alexandra took a step towards me before crossing her arms in front of her. I looked at the others but they didn't show anything at all except for one. My eyes fell back to Alexandra and nodded.
"Are you seriously going to tell her?" My eyes snapped back towards Rory who had just spoke. He looked pissed off by the way he glared at me, I only glared back.
"Sterling show her" Alexandra stated, ignoring what Rory comment. When I turn back to face Sterling, he was staring at the floor. It didn't take a while before he showed me. He pulled out his hands out of his pockets and I couldn't help but gasp when I've seen the state his knuckles were. His fist were damaged, his skin now dark red and purple, it was covering his hands as it were actually like that.
"What the hell happened?" I quickly picked up his hands and stared at the scary sight.
"That, we can't say" I heard Alexandra say but I didn't mind to look at her.
"What do you mean? Tell me Sterling, what happened?" I looked up at him and pleaded.
"It was all-" he started before he was cut off when I was pulled.
"Get lost, Nightingale, this isn't your business anymore it hasn't been since you left" Rory held me tightly by my arm as he spit out to me. I shrug him off and pushed him away.
"Put your hands on me one more time and you'll never see the end of it" by now I was staring up at him but all I wanted to do is remove that taunting smile he was showing me.
"What are you going to do? All you know what to do is whore around with boys who aren't yours" he said before reaching towards me but was pulled away by Owen.
"Hey, hey, don't go there" Owen gave him a hard look before looking at me.
"God, pathetic" was all Rory said before shrugging off Owen and leaving. As I was staring at him go, I've glance at Alexandra. She glared at me before turning towards Owen who was still looking at me. Alexandra took a step back before following Rory. Linda, Ysabella don't take long before following after her. Now the only ones left were Owen, Sterling and me.
"You should get to class, Thea" I heard Sterling's low voice. I didn't argue before looking at him and getting to my class.
I'm going to find out, I don't know how but I'm going to found out what happened.
