Chapter 18: 𝑋𝑉𝐼

Jason rushed towards Lily at the same time his men filled the halls with guns and Lily almost had a heart attack.

Lily gasped as her eyes widened in horror " Jason, raise your hands up slowly" Lily whispered to him and his lips twitched in amusement.

"Why are you whispering" Jason asked while whispering.

"Jason, I didn't know you're this dumb until today. Did these men hit you on your head? Can't you see all these armed people" Lily said while still whispering.

"They'd be dead before they even get the chance to get close to me , let alone hit me in my head. And those people are my m- bodyguards."

"Oh" Lily said as her lips formed into an O shape. With dazed eyes she nodded at Jason.

She looked adorable as fuck, Jason thought.

"Sir" Rick grabbed Jason's attention as his eyes scanned over his figure to make sure he wasn't injured. Levi was standing right next to him , waiting for instructions.

"Levi, please take the poor girl to the nurse and call her parents. Rick, take those fuckers to the tor- I mean take them away and clean this mess"

"Yes, sir" they both replied in unison.

As Rick shouted orders towards the men, one of the guys who was shot in his legs and shoulder laughed which sounded like he was choking on his own blood, that was seeping out of his mouth.

"Jason King, the famous cold hearted mafia son, has a weakness other than his family after all. Take good care of her. She's a sweet, innocent and naive soul, who knows what could happen to her when the word comes out"

"Shut the hell up sick fuck and don't you dare talk about her again, in fact don't even look at her"

"Oh come on share this sexy white meat with us, King"

"Oh you did not just say that , you sick son of a .. bad woman" Lily didn't want to curse not matter what and Jason held her back as she attempted to attack the sick fuck.

"Lily I got this, don't get yourself involved"

Jason turned around towards the bleeding idiot as he held himself from punching him in-front of Lily. He'll do much worse when they're alone.

"Son of a bad woman? Rea-" The guy was cut off as a white shoe flew in the air and smacked him in the center of his face , making him groan in pain.

Jason turned around quickly only to find Lily with a smug smile and a missing shoe. Lily shrugged as she noticed him staring at her "What?"

Jason fought back a laugh and pulled Lily as Rick dragged the guy away.

Lily could handle herself just fine. Jason's chest swelled with pride and admiration.

"Wait, I still kinda need my shoes back"

"You should've thought of that before throwing it towards the bloody bastard. Now you're white shows is smeared with red blood"

"I couldn't help it! Didn't you hear how he was talking about me? If it weren't for you , my shoes wouldn't be the one covered with blood , it would be my fist"

"You're cute"

"I'm not! I'm scary, baby" Lily said, showing her none existent arm muscles.

Jason chuckled and carried her up in his arms. "What are you doing"

"Carrying you ? I thought one pair of your shoes was lost"

"Well yeah, but I can still walk"

"And risk stepping on broken glass or something? Nope not gonna happen"

"Aww aren't you so cute, mafia son"

Jason stilled in his tracks as he heard what Lily said and stared down at her with wide eyes. He was taken back by her calm demeanor.

"What?" Jason asked.

"Do you think I'm deaf? I heard every word that guy said and I gotta say Jasey ... Holy moly! How could you be in the mafia and not tell me?"

Jason didn't know how to respond , she really got him shook. He opened his mouth only to close it back again.

"Uh I did tell you? But you didn't believe me" Jason finally managed to say.

"Well of course I wouldn't believe you! You talk about it like we're talking about the weather"

"Well how would you want me to tell you?"

"I don't know. I mean your vibe is so mafia fitting, but I didn't think you'd actually be in one"

"You're uncomfortably so calm about this"

"Oh I'm freaking out on the  inside, believe me, but there's a part of me that is so dumbly excited. I mean every girl dreams about having a badbutt mafia boyfriend"

Jason rolled his eyes at that, though on the inside he was relieved that Lily didn't freak out like he'd expect her to.

By now they've already reached Jason's car as bodyguards filled the whole area and students started clearing out. Parents who got the news were also here to check on their kids.

"Let's take you back home, princess"

"I don't want my parents to know about today, they'll only freak out and there's no point of doing that now"

"Sure, whatever you want, darling"

"So"

"So?"

"Tell me about the mafia"

"What do you want to know?"

"Everything"

"My dad is the leader of the mafia , it's called 'The Empire' and it's one of the strongest mafias in the world"

"That's so cool"

"You're such a weirdo, only you would be excited over such thing"

"Shush , go on"

"Me and my younger brothers are training to officially join the mafia when we turn eighteen, only my little sister doesn't know anything about it. And my oldest brother 'Mason' will be taking over after my dad"

"So you have a gun?"

"Obviously, didn't you see me holding it earlier?"

"Right. Can I see it"

"Fuck no"

"Why?" Lily whined.

"Because with your clumsiness I'll probably end up with a bullet penetrating you , me or the car"

"I'm not clumsy!" Jason snorted at that.

The whole ride back home was filled with Lily bombering  Jason with questions. At one point his parents called to check on him and even Cole texted him too.

As Jason parked in front of Lily's house he turned around facing Lily and looked at her with so much concentration.

"What? Do I have a mustache?"

"Wha-" Lily closed his mouth and quickly told him ' never mind , forget about that'

Jason chuckles vibrated through Lily's hand that was still blocking his mouth. He gently placed his hand on top of hers and slowly pulled hers away from his mouth.

"No you don't have a mustache, Fiore. I'm looking at you cause I still can't believe how calm you are about this"

"I'm just the coolest girlfriend ever" She said, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"Mhm, you're the most pretty, smart, stubborn, clumsy smartass girlfriend in the world" Jason whispered as he inched his face closer to Lily's face until her uneven breaths hit his face.

He tucked a strand of hair behind her ears and leaned in placing a kiss on her nose then slowly dragged his lips down, placing a kiss on the corner of her mouth.

"I'm so happy I got this heavy secret off of my chest, it was killing me to hide it from you"

Lily felt guilty hearing this. Little did he know she was hiding a secret from him too and it was killing her. She didn't know how to break it down to him.

She felt selfish, but she just couldn't tell him. How could she tell him such a thing after everything? She was scared endlessly, more scared than the fact that his family owned a fricking mafia.

"What are you thinking of, baby?"

"I - nothing" Lily said, shaking her head.

"Are you worried about what that guy said? Because believe me, Fiore, I would die before one hair of yours gets hurt"

Lily's eyes welled with tears and she hugged Jason abruptly, squeezing him so tightly as his shirt bunched between her fingers. She can't keep this  secret away from him. She can't do this to the only boy she ever loved.

Yes she's already in love with Jason.

"Jason?"

"Yes, love"

"I need to tell you something"

"What is it, baby?"

"But not now"

"Why"

"I'm not ready, yet"

"Okay, no pressure. Whenever you're ready I'll be there listening"

"Thank you, Jasey"

"I gotta admit I'm a little bit curious though. Can you at least tell me when you're going to tell me?"

"My sixteenth birthday is near. I'll tell you then"

"Why on your birthday?"

"You'll know why then"

"Alright. Wanna go get something to eat?"

"Sure, just let me grab a new pair of shoes. Though it's a bummer I couldn't get my other shoe back, I loved that pair of white sneakers"

"I'll get you the same one tomorrow"

"What? Don't be silly, Jasey."

"I'm serious"

Lily placed her index finger on his mouth shutting him up  "Shush, I'll go grab my other Nikes"  And then she hopped outside as Jason smiled thinking how he's gonna spoil her with so much more than sneakers.
