CHAPTER 6
MISHTI'S POV
I am in the middle of the forest. It is almost midnight and the entire place is dark. I suddenly hear the sound of rustling of leaves and I immediately turn towards the direction of the sound, cautiously. I am in my full-on alert mode and if someone tries to attack me, I will definitely show them my expertise in Karate.
Taking slow steps, I walk in the direction of the sound, looking for the source. All of a sudden, I am hit hard by something. I hold it with my hands to feel something soft. I hear someone shouting and I close my eyes in fright and hug the soft thing that hit me, immediately.
"Open your eyes, Mishti.", I hear Abir's low voice, which causes butterflies to erupt in my stomach.
I shake my head and refuse, holding what I assume is his shirt.
"Mishti if you don't open your eyes this instant, I will tell ma not to give you food today.", I suddenly hear Kunal's voice.
Kunal? How come he is here? In the middle of the forest? And how dare he talk about not giving me food?
I slowly open my eyes to see my brother sitting next to me in my room. When did we come back to my room? Weren't we in the forest few instants ago?
Ooh I think we just teleported! But where is the portkey?
"Ah! So the queen decided to finally wake up!", Kunal said looking furious and holding a pillow in his hand. Oh! Slowly everything falls into place in my head. So I had mistaken a pillow to be Abir? Good job, Mishti.
Smiling sheepishly, "I had a dream."
Kunal huffed, "Mishtu, get this into your head. First, everybody has dreams. Second, you are not Martin Luther King, okay?"
I roll my eyes and then stretch my arms and yawn.
"Okay, come down fast", saying, Kunal leaves.
I slowly get up and walk towards my bathroom and do my morning chores.
It has been two days since I sneaked out of my room to meet Abir and still, my leg hurts a bit. Must be the lack of practice in these last 4 years.
In the last two days, we had a lot of fun. By we, I mean myself, Kunal, Abir and Naira. Today, we are planning to go to the mall. Me and Naira need to get a few new dresses for college.
So, I quickly get ready and wear the chain Abir gifted me and go downstairs. That chain is very elegant and makes me feel very comfortable. I do not like any gaudy jewellery, and this one is nowhere near gaudy. For some reason, it gives me a sense of confidence. Plus, this was gifted by Abir, so I would not miss a chance to wear it.
Downstairs, I see Abir wearing a white T shirt with a jean overcoat and black jeans that only make him look even more stunning and all I can do is just gawk at him. Then he turns towards me and gives me one of his devilish smiles that causes my heart to leap out of my chest. Regaining composure, I smile at him and then we gather at the dining table to have food.
After having breakfast, me, Abir and Kunal leave in dad's car, with Kunal driving and Abir in the passenger seat. We first go to Naira's home to pick her up. As soon as she settles with me in the backseat, we head to the mall.
On the way, I turn on the radio and the two of us dance to every single song that comes up. The boys in the front keep laughing at our funny moves, but we don't care.
Once we reach the mall, the four of us get into the shop to buy some new clothes. After one whole hour, we bought some salwar suits and a few tops that we could wear to college while the boys got themselves new stuff.
Then, we head to the food court to buy some smoothies. The four of us head to the smoothie counter and I order myself a chocolate brownie smoothie while Abir ordered a strawberry one and the others order Vanilla.
While I turn towards one of the tables, I collide with something hard and I stumble backwards and fall on the ground with a thud. I feel my dress getting wet and when I look down at it, I realize that half of my dress is drenched. I look down to find cocktail spilled all over the floor and the worst part is, it made my dress a little transparent due to the wetness.
Oops.
Naira and Kunal approach me immediately with concern written all over their faces. Assuring them that I am fine, I look up to see Abir and the man I collided with, shouting at each other.
"Excuse me sir, I think you should try opening your eyes while walking. It will help other people avoid accidents."
"Hello mister, I think you need to tell that to your friend there, because of whom I have no cocktail to drink now."
I quickly go towards Abir and I hold his right arm, holding him back. I shake my head, indicating him to stop arguing with the man.
I smile at the man politely, "I'm sorry sir. Have a great day."
The man mumbles something to himself angrily, before walking away.
"Mishtu, you are being too nice for your own good. I don't know what will come of you.", Kunal started his usual lectures along with Abir.
"Yes Mishtipie, he is right. Don't give in to people that easily."
I sigh, "See, the mistake was on both of us. I should have turned around cautiously. So, can we not spoil our good mood now?"
I produce the cutest puppy dog face that I am capable of, which I am sure that both of them cannot ignore. Both of them sigh and I thank the stars for sending them in my life. As we walk back towards the counter to collect our drinks, I notice a few men staring at me weirdly. Staring at my transparent chest, to be precise.
Abir looked around furiously and then looked at me again. I raised my eyebrows questioningly. In response, he removed his jean overcoat and handed it over to me, revealing him in his white T-shirt, that hugged him like second skin. All his muscles and abs looked very defined and I had to take my eyes away from them with a lot of difficulty.
"Here. Wear this."
"Yeah. Wear that Mishtu.", Kunal added. Perks of having two overprotective guys accompany you.
"Abir I don't need th-"
"Do as I say, Mishtipie."
Huh. Grumpy Rajvansh.
Knowing better than disobeying him when he is grumpy, I silently take it from him and wear it. It feels warm, nice and comfy and slowly we head towards the parking lot, after collecting our smoothies.
The drive back home is silent and intense, as we slurp our drinks. We drop Naira on our way and reach our home.

That night, I take my Harry Potter book and continue to read it. But a knock on the door interrupts my reading.
Slowly, Abir peeks into my room with a nervous look on his face. He walks in very slowly with his hands at his back, hiding something.
"Hey. Um... Actually, there is something I want to give you.", his cheeks turn slightly pink at this.
Aww. Is he blushing?
I smile encouragingly at him. He slowly forwards a bag towards me, his eyes not leaving the ground. I take the bag with excitement. My heart beats furiously in anticipation as I open the bag to find a baby pink saree that makes my jaw drop. This saree screams grace and elegance. It looks so pretty and I know that I myself would have not been able to pick something this good for me. He knows my taste better than myself!
So, was this what he was buying at the store today? I thought he was getting something for himself. He is pampering me too much now and all of a sudden, I feel a bit overwhelmed that this man standing right in front of me, who has been my crush for the last six years, is gifting me my first ever saree.
"At the store today, I found this and just like the heart chain, this one reminded me of you too. So, I thought I could gift you this one. It's okay if you don't like it, I can take it back. I can exchange it at the store if you want. It's just, I thought you would look good in it, I'm sorry if you don't like-"
I cut off his rambling by walking towards him and placing my index fingers on his lips. He looks a bit too startled at my action.
"Quick advice. Listen to what people have to say before assuming stuff. Okay?"
He nods slowly and I take my finger off. "Does that mean you like it?", he asked, looking hopeful.
"Like? I love it! It looks perfect. You know, it's my first saree so I would keep this treasured.", I smile warmly at him and hug the saree to my chest.
"Really? You like it?", he said, with his eyes gleaming with hope and excitement.
He is so cute!
I grin and pinch his cheeks, "I definitely love it. And Abir, just don't spoil me by giving too many gifts."
He shrugs, "I don't mind doing that."
I again examine the saree. It is a very simple one with thin golden stripes that add beauty to it. I will keep this one safe for a special occasion.
"Why are you like this?", he asked suddenly.
I look at him, "Like what?"
"So positive and radiant.", his eyes showing adoration.
I smile widely at him, "Not as much as you are."
He rolls his eyes and then smiles slightly. "Fine, I guess it's time I leave then. Good night, Mishtipie."
I nod, "Good night, Abir."
With that, I go back to read my book, but my mind is elsewhere.
