Violetta pushes me out of the room for some fresh air. I try to calm myself, but he pushed me to this point and once f snapped there was no going back for me.

“You went too far,” she says calmly.

“I went too far?” I scoff. “I went too far?”

“Come on, Nelson. The old man already fucked us all. We don’t need to remind each other of that,”

“You heard what he said to me,” I wipe my pathetic tears away with my sleeve.

“He’s a fucking guy, Perry Those fuck nuts don’t know any better

“Why do I have to be the better man?” I growl at her annoyed.-

“You don’t have to be a man at all. You’re a woman. He wanted a reaction out of you, Babe and he got it. I’ve told you before. That’s all they want from us. Shake it off. Let’s get back in there and finish this,” she places her hands on my shoulders and shakes me a little. I almost laugh because she’s so small. “Yeah?”

“All right. Let’s go,” she smacks my arm.

“You really fucked the Alpha King?” I ask.

“The lycan was better. We were young and it was over faster than it started,” she shrugs. “He was also high and I was low,”

“Wait, I’m like two years older than him and I’m five years older than you. You were like what sixteen–seventeen when you were assigned to bring him back. Pervert. Being related shouldn’t have been the deal breaker for him,”

“I was mated,” I remind her. “And even if he had died. It never would have been him. He’s a nerd and not in the cute way Rome is,”

“Right, it would have been Knight. We all know that now,”

“Fuck you,” I shove her.

“How do you know that?” I glare at her.

“I see things. I keep them to myself, but I see things. Tell me the truth. Did he suck them when you guys did weird shit?”

“I’m done with this entire conversation,” I pull the door open and hold it for her. “And yeah, he did,”

“Yes, bitch. I love that for you,” she smacks my arm and skips inside with a massive grin on her face. “You done, pretty boy?”

“Yeah, whatever,” he shrugs but doesn’t look up at me.

“Here,” I begin to hand out the adaptors. They all pull out their laptops and settle in around the table. “I will activate the connection from here,” I place my hand on my laptop and then point at the monitors around us. “These are the locations. We’ll know if they work,”

“What if some work and some don’t?” Roman asks.

“Send the vampires in first if it’s your sector,” Bunny says in a du tone. “I thought you said these guys were legit,”

“Fuck you, little Lycan bitch,” Baby growls at her and is on her feet immediately. Roman laughs but grabs her arm and pushes her back into her scat.

“If you ever talk to her like that I will break your fucking teeth, little girl,” I warn her and then look up at Bunny. “Bro, relax. Nerd techs keep their mouths shut. We’ve talked about this,”

“Sorry,” Bunny rolls her eyes and turns back to her laptop.

“This is going to take six minutes. Roy and Bunny need to take care of the popups. Our objective is to get through this security system to activate each bomb. Once you hit the server a download bar will start. Give your orders and head out. Any questions?”

“Will I be compensated for my laptop?” Baby asks. I look over at her bright red nightmare.

“No, you’re getting a piece of the profits like the rest of us. Buy yourself another one or build it. Whatever. Are we ready?”

“Ready,” they all confirm one by one. They plug in their adapters and I stare at the laptop in front of me.

I turn on my communicator and the pearl linked to James. I look down at my watch to see we have four minutes for our window to open up. I pull my hair up and take a knee and try to relax as best I can. I look up at the others and hold their gaze as the timer ticks down. At the thirty–second mark, I hold my hand over the starting key.

“Count down,” I say out loud and count back from ten.

Instinctively, I hit the key and we all begin. My mind goes back to Darren and what Knight said. I admit that I got defensive. It’s my go to especially when Darren is involved. I’m glad none of them brought up Mackenzie. Maybe because they know that what was done to her is a lot more fucked up or because it all just happened in the heat of the moment.

I never planned on telling Knight the truth. He was my first mentor in all of this and when he went global, the responsibility was passed on to the Rogue King. It wasn’t long after that he met Phoebe. It was just before everything happened.

I remember the panic in his voice when he called me and told me he had found her. He had no one else to talk to. He and his beta are the only wolves in his band. He couldn’t confide in his beta because he was afraid that it would be reported back to his parents. Then there’s the little detail about Phoebe being human.

Hailey was in a terrible situation when I killed her mate, Gavin. He was fucking crazy and not in the cute ironic way Darren was. This man didn’t deserve to have a mate and now that everything has been said and done, neither did she. They were both insane and because I didn’t want my friend to die because his wolf hated him for walking away from their mate, I made the introduction. I thought it was perfect.

She had been a victim and that idiot has a hero complex after what happened to his mom at the hands of his psycho father. She almost tore his family apart the same way Eve had and it cost Knight his half–brother. The heir to his stepfather’s pack.

It was all over the media. I felt terrible, but I didn’t have time to dwell on it because of what happened after. I feel horrible about what I said to him but once I get going, mean shit just comes out of my mouth. I had warned him. More than once.

“I’m in.” Violetta lauglis when her monitor shows that part of the city is on fire. “Let’s go boys. I’ll see y’all in the center of the city.”

The others follow and take off one by one until it’s just Knightly and me. When it’s done the laptop starts smoking and I step away from it. I look around us to find that they all still work. He smiles looking around at the monitors. I reach for my weapons and start slipping them on.

“I’m sorry,” he says before I can run out. “That was fucked. I shouldn’t have said what I did,”

“Why did you?”

“I guess I’ve always been a little envious of you. You’ve always known what you’ve wanted and made the means to get it,”

“You’re Knight. You literally have the world laid out at your feet. Your dads fight over you and you’re mom is crazy protective of you. You never belonged here. I’ve always been jealous of you. Knight. You’ve got everything the rest of us will never and you’re choosing not to play. I said it the day you called me and I will say it again. Find her. Pretty Phoebe is out there waiting for you to give all that love you have locked away inside. I’m sorry too. You used to be the big brother I wish I had,”

“Not anymore?”

“No, man. My mate loves his baby sister and would hurt anyone who would dare say anything that could hurt her feelings. Even the asshole prince that tried to kill me showed up for her during her transition. When’s the last time you called your sister?”

“Fuck off, Perry,” he scoffs and pushes past me.

“You’re a fucking nightmare,” James says through the pearl.

“He started it,” I huff. “Let’s ready up, Jimmy. Your team has the green light. Open up a path for the vamps. Make it bloody. The alpha said they haven’t been fed in a while,”
