Getting back home was awkward. Roy was staring daggers at me from the back seat. The paramedics and firefighters made it almost impossible to get out of the city. I don’t know why we didn’t just go back to Cliffside, but I didn’t want to go all the way around Redwood with the patrols on the loose. Some of us were still covered in blood from head to toe.

Once we got home, I got the pups cleaned up and while I got cleaned up, Valentina fed them. Hunter fell asleep soon after that. Whenever I tried to step out of the room, the little girl would start crying. So, I waited until she fell asleep.

“You shouldn’t have brought them back with you,” Violetta says when I shut the door to the spare room across from mine.

I lean against the door feeling exhausted. Everything hurts. I feel like I got run over by twelve buses back to back. My body is still buzzing from what happened. I’m not going to be able to sleep for a while. I breathe out and turn around to face her.

“They’re kids,”

“They’re experiments, Perry. Successful experiments,” she clarifies. I shrug and move past her to go downstairs where my study is. “The only reason why you’re not getting rid of him is because he looks just like Darren,”

“Yes, he does look just like him,” I turn around. “He’s Mackenzie’s son. He’s a little boy, Violetta. No matter what she chooses, they’re staying here. Where they’re safe. They all stand and start moving out as I go to my desk to open up the windows. The King is the only one that stays put as they clear out.

“What’s going on?”

“Fucking Violetta wants me to kill the kids,” I scoff. “She thinks they’re dangerous. If anything she needs to be put down. With her walking around lots of more people are going to be dying,”

“Perry,” he scolds me.

“You think the same thing?” I glare at him.

“No, to the entire argument,” he comes closer. He puts his hands on my waist and lifts me up onto the desk. “You need to eat something and get some rest. You’re all over the place,”

Everyone is in the family room. Valentina and the rest of the staff are catering to everyone. The vampires are cleaning up the tunnels. Lilithian said she’ll call when it’s time to clean up the servers. Violetta, Knightly, and I are the only ones who have access codes to the servers, so she can’t exactly trick us out of any of it.

“You live here?” Roman asks when he spots me.

“Bitch, this is better than the Alpha’s courtyard. It even smells nicer,” Baby adds. The King takes that as a compliment and grins. Even James has a smug look on his stupid face.

It’s morning. Very early in the morning. I take a seat between James and the King feeling a wave of exhaustion come over me. I shut my eyes for a moment and take a deep breath. That happened. Even if I feel like things aren’t done yet, at the very least, we’re free from him. When I open my eyes,

I see the others look as tired as I feel.

“What’s next?” Baby asks looking at her brother. His

eyes turn to Violetta.

“We split the assets. We’re all that’s left. Perry promised the lab shit to Lilith. We have to pay off her mate but for the most part. It’s over,” she says.

“It doesn’t feel like it,” Knightly says before I can. “I feel relieved that fuck is dead, but I can’t shake it off,”

“We won’t know until we get into those servers,” Violetta shrugs. I’m not exactly better shit to do,” she stands up and looks in my direction. “I have to get home. I have work tomorrow. Call me when we’re
