The first snow is here. Perry has been reluctant to leave the house since our son’s birth and today marks her first back to work week. Her emotions are steady now. I can feel when something is about to set her off and it’s like a winding sensation that wakes me up. My skin prickles with goosebumps when her anger gets the best of her. Arielle is a strong baby boy. He looks just like her: big brown eyes, heavy dark hair, and a bit big for a newborn his age. Sturdy. Yet, he’s small enough for me to carry in one arm. I can’t bring myself to set him down when I hold him. His scent, his softness, and his fragile body all beckon me to make sure nothing bad ever happens to him.

There are still nights when I wake up and can’t believe this is my life now. That she sleeps next to me and peacefully I might add. Lately, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I’m met with her humming. She hums quietly as she feeds our son and rocks him back to sleep. I’ve never seen her lose her patience with him. When he’s close by, she’s all smiles.

My attention snaps back to Arielle when he kicks his tiny feet out I readjust him so he’s more comfortable. I glance back when I see something move behind me. Perry is sitting behind my desk holding her phone up.

“Yeah,” she sits down across from me, resting her elbow on the desk so she can hold her head up in the baby’s direction

Vince doesn’t want to release the new watches until after Thanksgiving. I think we should mass distribute them on black Friday so we have time to properly distribute the luxury bands. I don’t think the blue ones he chose are going to do well if he releases them with the watches. I think since we didn’t make a lot we can rebrand them as limited edition. “I want you to wear my black and gold one,” she shakes her head “We’re going to match,”

“Why do you like poking at him?” I glance over at my phone when it vibrates.

“Pissing off traditionalists is a full–time job. Ask our congressmen she smirks. “I’m not poking at him. His idea would be great if we were doing two bands. Not four. I let him get away with the phone cases. I bet if I branded them with the OC logo instead of the Wolfe one, we wouldn’t have had the problem we did. I just don’t want a repeat of last year,”

“I ignored it,” she says after a pause. “We have seven more days,”

She gets up to come over to us. She picks him up and sits on my lap turning her body enough so he’s craddled between the two of us. I have to admit that I’m worried about this myself.

“He’s asleep,” she says after a few minutes of silence. “You pucker your lips like this when you sleep too,”

“No, I don’t, I laugh. She curls herself up to lay him against her chest. I wrap my arm around her to secure them both.

“I could stay like this forever,” she rests her head on my chest.

“We should go to our room if you’re sleepy,”

“Too late, she whispers tucking herself closer.

“Don’t move. I still have a few things I need to finish up,” I say scooting into my desk. She mumbles something against me and relaxes.

“Perry- I growl at Lillies stopping her in her tracks. She lets out a sigh of relief. “Thank goodness,” she rushes out quietly. “She’s been driving me nuts. She didn’t eat breakfast,” she sets a big on the desk. “Vince is being a jackhole. Make sure she eats something. She needs that nap after the shit storm of meetings this week. Have fun,”

“Thank you for scaring her away,” she sits up with the baby in her arms.

“You faker, I laugh.

Ti still staying here, she leans against me. “I just needed her to stop following me everywhere,”

“Okay,” I say shutting down my computer. “I am clearly not going to get anything else done. Let’s get the baby to bed and you fed,”
