The Council Courtyard was nothing like the training arenas.

There were no scuffed stone tiles or shattered dummies—just pristine white jade flooring, floating spirit lanterns, and ten crescent thrones carved from star-metal. Elders of the Azure Serpent Sect sat in each one, draped in ceremonial robes, their auras faintly warping the space around them like glass under pressure.

Rayen stepped into the center of the courtyard, flanked by his five Spiral disciples.

The air felt sharp.

Another elder, seated to the left, tapped the armrest of her throne. “And yet you spread it to disciples. You disrupt equilibrium.”

“I’m improving it.”

Elder Shou raised a hand. “Then demonstrate.”

Rayen turned to his students.

“Positions,” he said.

They moved without hesitation.

Ji Rong stepped into the dueling circle. His Spiral disc lit up—breath synced, limbs aligned. “Spiral Echo Resonance,” he called out.

Rayen’s eyes met his.

“With respect,” he said, “so did every ancestor before you.”
