After their date, it seemed like Paige and Robin could not get enough of one another. Their priorities were as listed: class, sports, each other. Any spare time that they had between assignments or late practices, they were with one another. The date had honestly brought them so much closer, and after the kiss that they shared and the sweet note that Robin had given her to read that night, Paige knew she wanted something more with the girl.
In the letter, Robin had gone more in depth about her feelings towards Paige, telling her that whenever she felt doubts or insecurities about their relationship, read the letter and may it always be a reminder of how much she cared about her.
The question of their title daunted them as they continued spending so much time together. One thing they both had in common was the anxiety they felt about moving too fast. While they both enjoyed the quiet and private moments together, they also wanted to scream from the rooftops that they were together. They didn't want to hide their relationship from anyone.
"I think I'm going to ask Robin to be my girl," Paige said out of the blue, causing her friends to look at her with wide grins, excited that she'd finally decided to make the move.
"Perfect ayeee!" KK exclaimed, her and Aubrey began dancing around, "I have been waiting for this moment for so long. Aubrey and I were just talking about when you'd grow the sack to ask her. How long has it been? Like two months?"
Paige just rolled her eyes at her friends, as she continued talking, "She seriously is the best person I've ever met, and I've literally met A'ja Wilson and Sue Bird. She's so pretty and her heart is so pure. She makes me laugh so hard that I literally can't breathe and I can't stay away from her, like ever. I just don't want to seem like I'm rushing her to be in a relationship with me, you know? Who says she'll even say yes?"
Aubrey groaned, "P, you need to get out of your head. That girl is just as down bad for you as you are for her, and it's so obvious. Fuck everything that happened in the past with her and Miles, because you are here now. She wants to be your girl just as bad, so make it happen. Don't be a punk, Bueckers."
"Yeah Aubs is right, shocker right?" KK joked, causing Aubrey to push her, "but, seriously. I've watched y'all interact and it makes me want to throw up by how much you both get each other. Like, two puppies, I swear."
Paige smiled, happy that her friends were encouraging her to go through with asking Robin out. This was something that they tended to do often. Anytime she was in her head about anything, whether it was Robin or basketball, her friends pulled her back down to earth and spoke words of encouragement.
"Y'all are right," Paige said, grabbing her phone and looking through Pinterest to find the perfect idea of how she'd ask the questions, "so, let's brainstorm how I'm going to ask her."
After hours of being a hive mind, the trio had finally decided how Paige should ask Robin out. While the idea was casual and simple, it invoked on what the volleyball player loved to do the most, besides her sport, and that was arts and crafts.
After heading to Target and getting all of the supplies together, Paige invited her girl over to the dorm, telling her that she'd just wanted to spend the night together before Robin had to compete in her national competition.
She'd sent a quick 'otw' message, causing Paige to panic. She's never asked anyone out before, so the nerves began to surge through her. She wanted it to be perfect and everything Robin wanted, because that is truly what she deserved. But, aside from the nerves, she was excited to go one a new journey with the woman that she admired.
After setting up the canvases and easels then the paint and brushes, Robin had finally arrived. Pauge hugged her warmly once she pulled her in, soaking in her natural fragrance of shea butter and cinnamon. They pulled apart, and the volleyball player leaned in pecking the blonde on the lips.
"I missed you, birdie." Paige said, her hands rubbing soft circles on her partners hips.
"We just saw one another last night." Robin giggled, reaching up to smooth the stray hairs back into her bun. "You can't get enough of me already?"
"Nope," she responded quickly, pulling her into another kiss, this time they sat in the moment a little longer, soaking each other in. Paige's hands found their way to Robin's lower back, closing any space between the two.
The blonde had finally pulled away, releasing her lips causing Robin to bite her lip and look at her with her doe eyes. In situations like this, Paige wanted time to freeze and the earth to stop spinning just so she could stay in the moment forever. Everything about Robin was perfect, her hair, her eyes, those lips. Paige felt like she was floating on cloud nine as the woman continued to stare into her soul, and while she wanted to lean back in and indulge in more of those kisses, she had a question to ask.
"I set something up for us tonight," Paige stated, finally breaking the desire filled silence.
"Really? What're we doing?" Robin questioned, excited to learn what her girl had planned for them to do.
"You know that trend on TikTok where the people attempt to paint the other person? Well, we're doing that tonight, since I know you love crafts."
"Oh my God! I was just telling Harley how I wanted to do this! Come on, let's start! I'm excited!" Robin beamed, now extremely excited for their date night.
The pair had sat down at the table almost an hour ago, and Paige would casually look up to see Robin so focused on her painting. Her face was morphed in a cute, yet concentrated expression with her eyebrows furrowed and her lips in her natural pout.
"God, why is she so pretty?" Paige thought to herself. Like, she'd genuinely never met someone who could easily make her fold until she met Robin. No one could ever make her feel like the volleyball player did, and that was a mere fact.
"Okay, I'm almost done, P! I think I did a pretty good job? What about you?" Robin said, her mouth forming a smile as she finished the last touches of her painting of Paige.
"Yes, I'm done, birdie. You go first, make sure to record." Paige said, her heart beginning to beat extremely fast, anticipation began running through her.
"Okay, okay." Robin said, picking up her phone and recording on TikTok. She placed the photo next to Paige, causing her to go into a fit of giggles.
"Ah hell no, why are you laughing?" Paige asked jokingly, finding the girl's giggles adorable. "Nah, let me see this."
Robin continued to record as she allowed Paige to look at the painting. She tried her best to pretend that it was great, smiling and nodding.
"Oh babe, this looks great." She mustered out, attempting to keep a straight face.
"You're lying!" Robin exclaimed, causing Paige to burst out into fits of laughter, "P, it's not that bad. Come on, you're doing too much!"
The blonde continued to hold her stomach and laugh, not being able to control the fits of laughter that erupted from her. The look on Robin's face was making everything funnier, as she stood in front of Paige with one hand on her hip and the other still holding the phone.
"The way you're laughing, yours better be good! Matter of fact, show me right now." Robin said, playfully handing Paige her phone.
The nervousness came back to Paige as she began recording, remembering that she had to ask Robin to be her girlfriend at this moment.
"Okay, show me what you got, Bueckers, since you wanna laugh at my hard work!" Robin said sitting, as Paige showed the phone what the painting said, before she flipped it so she could see as well.
The silence was so loud. Paige's heartbeat could be heard through her own ears as she watched and waited for Robin's reaction. She watched as her face morphed from confusion to shock to excitement.
"What the fuck! Yes!" Robin said as she squealed, jumping up and down excitedly. She was so happy that the moment had come for them to become something more for one another. She wanted nothing more to be Paige's girl, her comforter, her number one.
The nervousness from Paige morphed into happiness as she stopped recording and pulled her girl in for a kiss, this time it being more urgent and tender. This kiss meant so much to them. It was the seal of their relationship. It was a promise that they'd be in this through thick and thin, and willing to go through whatever, as long as they had one another.
This kiss was a sentiment of their adoration for one another that would soon morph into something more, maybe even love.
Pulling away from their kiss, they wrapped one another into a hug, holding on so tight, but knowing that neither of them were going to slip away.
"You're my girlfriend," Robin said, looking up at the blonde with an unwavering smile on her face, "my bae! Oh my God, you're my girlfriend!"
Paige beamed as she looked down at her, feeling the same excitement surge throughout her.
"Mhm, my girl forever, and ever."
"Stamp that!"
