It took two days to get Akira’s temperature down. Her body would glow every night on its own. They watched her as it got brighter and brighter, then dimmed, then went out.

On the third morning, Akira finally opened her eyes.

“Akira!” Wolfric, Malique, and Darius shouted at the same time.

“You had a fever,” Darius said, “it took two days for it to go down.”

Akira frowned. “Then why won’t he?”

“Because you almost died on us, Akira,” Malique said as he knelt in front of her. “We messed up and had sex with you while you were still healing, and we believe it caused a fever. He won’t chance that again.”

Akira’s frown deepened. She looked in the direction Wolfric had gone off in, then pulled herself to her feet.

“What are you doing?” Darius asked, watching her.

“Going to my Wolf Warrior,” Akira said, then fell back on her ass and held her hand to her head. “What the hell?”

“You just got over a fever,” Malique said with annoyance.

She looked up at him and grinned. “Carry me?”

Her three Warriors laughed.

Darius shifted into his Pegasus, and Malique helped Akira onto his back.

“Don’t jostle her too much!” Wolfric called out to Darius as he lifted into the air.

The Pegasus nodded his head, then took to the sky, Akira squealing with delight as she raised her arms in the air.

“Let’s get going,” Malique said as he picked up two of the bags.

Wolfric nodded, then shifted into his giant white wolf. He lifted two bags in his mouth, then headed for the mountain.

“Let’s find a place to hide while we wait for them.”

Akira frowned as she rubbed down the bear’s side. “I think his mama left him for dead,” she whispered.
