Chapter 10 : The longing warmth
<>~<>~<>
'26th July 2019'
Just yesterday Jungkook arrived in Korea and had his first ever meeting with Taehyung after years. Despite already being familiar with each other, Taehyung couldn't muster courage to stay with him for any longer and so, by giving a suitable excuse, he left the place. He tried his best not to show his 'bothered' side to anyone. Especially Jungkook.
But today, he tried not to be this weak and actually went for the dinner planned by his fellow friends from different companies which was actually being held to celebrate Jungkook's return and also the press conference the next day. As it is said, people being selfish enough for themselves, they had to willingly or unwillingly show their happiness for one of the biggest company's holders which was Jungkook.
As usual, Taehyung got ready in his formal clothes, with his grey blazer and trouser, complemented with a white dotted shirt underneath and a formally tucked tie around his collar. Applying a little hair spray, he fixed his hair with a part falling on his forehead and a part neatly set behind. He applied his usual but quite attractive vanilla scent perfume and got himself in the black formal shoes of his before leaving the house in his car.
"Slow down the car." Taehyung muttered to the driver as the speed lessened of the car. He wanted to take as much time as he could for himself before directly facing Jungkook. Having a five minutes meet was different when he returned. But having a whole dinner was something different. Totally different. And Taehyung knew it wasn't going to be easy. He knew it needed lots of strength. Maybe he had successfully gathered that strength. But using it wasn't something predictable enough.
Within half an hour, he reached the informed place. Getting out of the car, he entered the huge building in which the dinner was planned. With the help of the lift, he reached the tenth floor. When he got inside, he met with a couple of waiters going around taking orders of the already presented people. Then his eyes moved around only to see Mr Hwang, by whom the entire dinner was planned.
When Mr Hwang caught Taehyung's presence, he waved his hand in the air to let Taehyung know where they were sitting. Taehyung pressed his lips in a thin line and held them upwards in order to form a smile. Walking towards the table, he took his seat, being greeted by a couple of men present there.
"It's good to see you here, Mr Kim."
"It's an honour to have you here."
"Thanks for coming."
Taehyung replied with just a nod of his head. His eyes unconsciously started searching for a figure. A figure he didn't want to see, yet his eyes searched for it with concern. The same concern they had years before.
Just then, a tall, slightly slender figure with a thin attractive waist entered the hallway, the dining area.
Jungkook.
Taehyung's eyes darted towards his face. His round cheeks on display but a sharp clenched jaw having its dominance. The pretty mole under his glossy pink coloured lower lip came out in shine as he spread his lips in a huge smile, having his teeth been shown. Taehyung's stare towards Jungkook's bright eyes intensed when his gaze fell upon the sheen in his eyes. The sheen which was even greater than the millions of stars in the sky.
Just how insanely he admired Jungkook. Till date.
As Jungkook proceeded towards the table, both of their eyes met. Taehyung's eyes held unsaid love, which he tried his best to hide. While Jungkook's eyes held ignorance. The forced ignorance. Yet the glint didn't fail to light up his surroundings.
"Good evening, gentlemen." Jungkook bowed respectfully as he greeted all the people sitting there in his wait.
"Good evening, Mr Jeon. It's marvelous to have you here. Please take a seat."
And just like that, everyone greeted Jungkook. Except Taehyung. When Taehyung's turn came, he kept his gaze low and just stood up to greet Jungkook with a forced smile and a handshake. "Good evening, Mr Jeon."
As much as his touch bothered Taehyung, Jungkook's heart skipped a beat at Taehyung's deep tone and his warm touch, too. The warmth he longed for. The warmth they both longed for. Just to have no further heart throbs, Taehyung pulled his hand away, offering Jungkook to take a seat. All of them ordered their respective food before they got involved in random conversations.
"So, Mr Jeon, how has it been throughout the planning of sudden entry in the business?" One of them asked in order to begin a conversation.
"Nothing special. It was already planned for a long time. Just a tinge of the inauguration of the plan has been in view till yet." Jungkook said, taking a sip of his cold tea from his cup. All the while, Taehyung kept his eyes everywhere but Jungkook.
"Was it difficult?" The person continued.
"As in?"
"As in getting into business competition all of a sudden?"
"Oh. Well, being in a competition has never been anything new for me."
Taehyung's hold tightened on his fork at Jungkook's reply.
"And will never be." He blurted out, gaining Jungkook's attention. Jungkook smiled at him, making Taehyung click his tongue and keep his fork down.
"True." replied Jungkook.
"Now let's keep the formalities aside for a while and enjoy our dinner without any further formal discussion. So how's life been treating you lately?" A person asked, receiving several answers in a row. Then came Taehyung's turn. "Nothing good."
The spin was of Jungkook next. "Good or bad, it all depends on us, ultimately." Taehyung looked at Jungkook and couldn't help but get reminded of everything that has been bothering both of them for years now. Jungkook loved awakening the memories. But Taehyung hated that. He despised it.
"Mine has been treating me well. But not well enough to make me satisfied with what I could've been." With that, Jungkook started munching on his food again.
"And whether it's satisfactory or not depends on us, ultimately. No, Mr Jeon?" Taehyung said, having Jungkook's shining orbs over him.
"Absolutely correct, Mr Kim."
As if the wind knew what was coming next, it started blowing wildly. Rapidly. Having everyone's attention, a loud gunshot was heard, attaining hundreds of screams from the floor just below. The ninth floor.
