'18th May, 2016'
Taehyung's smile dropped looking at Jungkook who was busy planning things with Baekhyun, his classmate, for the college festa, as per the duties assigned to them. He looked at the two milkshakes he brought for Jungkook and him to drink while spending some time together.
It's been days since they both had a good time together because of the academic pressure and the collision of their schedules and timings. Taehyung finally felt happy to see Jungkook in college free during his free period too, so he brought two banana milkshakes to drink together for some quality time together, but as soon as he saw Baekhyun with Jungkook, all cuddly and smiling and laughing, his heart immediately dropped.
It might sound childish, but he kind of disliked seeing Jungkook so cuddly with Baekhyun these days. Not like he hated Baekhyun or something, but the mere thought of losing Jungkook to someone that way itched him.
Was it wrong of him to think so? Might be. Because he himself felt pathetic by having these meaningless insecurities. Or so he thought.
He immediately turned away his steps and walked out the cafeteria. But a pair of eyes didn't fail to notice his figure disappearing.
As Taehyung went outside in the playground and sat under the fresh open sky, he felt relaxed and soothed. He felt guilty for feeling so insecure, which ultimately was wrong, but he felt that. An open sky and fresh breeze were the only things that successfully brightened his mood and relaxed him to an extent that he would stop overthinking about things. Even about Jungkook.
After five minutes of him relaxing or so, a tap was felt on his left shoulder. He turned around to see and Jungkook's face came into view. He forced out a smile as Jungkook sat beside him.
"What happened, baby bear?" He asked Taehyung in his soft voice. Taehyung shook his head from side to side, indicating a 'nothing'. Jungkook's gaze, then, went towards the two glasses of milkshake kept beside Taehyung. He bit his lower lip and leaned in to side hug Taehyung.
"Are you upset with me?" He mumbled, enough for only Taehyung to hear. Taehyung immediately shook his head again, causing Jungkook to scrunch his brows. "No. I know you are."
"I'm not. It's okay, Kook." Taehyung again forced out a smile but this time, Jungkook straight away kissed Taehyung's left cheek while remaining in the hug, having slight tears appearing in Taehyung's eyes. Taehyung bit his insides to not let out a sob in front of Jungkook, but Jungkook was quick enough to notice Taehyung's glassy eyes.
"Oh my God, Tae. Are you crying? Please tell me if I did anything wrong. What happened?"
Taehyung immediately wiped the unfallen tears and looked at Jungkook. "I'm not upset with you, Kook. Neither did you do anything wrong. I justâ¦.am not feeling secure with our.â¦friendship." Jungkook's eyes softened at what Taehyung said. He immediately engulfed Taehyung in a deep hug and started caressing his back slowly, softly with love.
"I'm here, Tae. I'm here. What made you feel insecure about us, hun? Remember you're the one who is so precious to me. Nothing is coming in our way, alright? Don't feel insecure. I'm never leaving you. Never. At least I won't be the one to leave first. So calm down and remember you're so special to me. Mhm?" Jungkook mumbled such soft words in Taehyung's ears as Taehyung soothed down and clutched onto Jungkook even tightly, causing Jungkook to smile.
"You're a star, Tae. My star. The most shining one in my life. And I'm never letting this star go down from my life." Jungkook said as they both pulled away. Taehyung picked up the milkshakes and passed one to Jungkook. Jungkook smiled and took one in his hands before they both started to drink it under the floating clouds of the wide sky.
Once he was done with his milkshake, Jungkook brought his right hand towards Taehyung's left one and started slowly caressing it, letting him know that he was there and was never leaving him.
Taehyung smiled under the care. But his heart couldn't find comfort and couldn't stay away from insecurities. It couldn't. Because it was even difficult to hold onto himself when Jungkook was actually even more precious to Taehyung than he had thought. More than he had imagined.
Because he wasn't just a friend to Taehyung. He was something more. And as his love kept growing, the space was starting to get suffocating with his insecurities too. No matter how much he tried to calm his heart down and let it know that Jungkook was always going to be with him, a part just could never believe so. Because he was scared. Scared to lose the last precious thing he had. Scared to lose Jungkook.
