Chapter 6 : Promise

"Ironic how we went from being die hard enemies to die hard friends in a matter of a few months." Jungkook said while munching on his food nonchalantly. Taehyung nodded before taking a sip from his glass of champagne.
"I agree. Who knew we would be celebrating our one year friendship anniversary this way in the end when once we even had a really bad competition which ended up suspending both of us from the college in our last year?" He chuckled before taking another sip.
"And here we are. Sitting peacefully and enjoying our food together." They both giggled, followed by an awkward silence before Jungkook chose to break it. "Thanks for coming into my life though." He looked straight into Taehyung's eyes, keeping the last slice of his pizza down on the table, being the slow eater he was.
"Be it in the form of an unexpected enemy or literally anything. In the end, you changed my perspective in the aspect of friendship and gave me a whole new view of how good a friendship can be. Thank you so much." He passed him a smile and got up from his chair, confusing Taehyung about what he would do next. He slowly went closer towards Taehyung and passed him a hand in order to get him up from his place.
Getting up, Taehyung followed Jungkook slowly to where he was going, which took both of them out of the restaurant in the open area which was a garden beside. As they both came out, Jungkook stopped in a particular place and looked up in the sky which was giving a clear view of the stars to both of them, opening a blanket of beautiful glittering and shiny objects in the sky, metaphorically said, stars.
After an entire moment of staring at the beauty of the sky, Jungkook spoke, "Are you seeing that star? The one which is shining the most?" Taehyung nodded to that question of his as he found the star which was shining the most among all.
"I want our friendship to be like that star. To shine the most among all and to keep shining eternally without any stop. Where nothing can separate us. Not even us." A smile automatically crept upon Jungkook's face as he said all those words which seemed to be coming straight out his heart with insane purity.
Taehyung looked down, gulping, and then looked towards Jungkook's glistening eyes which were still staring deep into the sky. "I'm ready to give my best." Saying that, he held Jungkook's hand and started caressing it lightly while keeping his eyes on the sky as well.
"So is that forever?" Jungkook immediately turned towards Taehyung who shot his eyes at the slightly perplexed Jungkook. He nodded before saying, "Yes. That's forever as long as there's nothing to part us away."
"Then let's keep our hands in hands forever even if a day comes when we feel like backing out. And when that day comes, let's just keep our hands intertwined and sort the matter out without letting it separate us. Without letting each other go." Jungkook passed a smile before keeping his hand forward in front of Taehyung.
"Can we make it our first promise on our first friendiversary? Will you promise me this?" He asked, looking like a lost bunny who was searching for surety.
His eyes lightened up after the next statement was heard as if all the stars from the sky landed straight into his eyes. Well, that's how Taehyung would describe his eyes at that very moment. "Promise, little bunny."
