Chapter 25: Sokovia

I quickly slip on my suit, stepping out to where the twins are getting ready. I stop short after seeing Pietro put his shirt on.

He looks over to me with a smirk.

"Like what you see?" I instantly scoff, rolling my eyes before I push him out of my way and walk over to see what Wanda was looking at.

Outside, Thor and Vision were talking.

"Do you trust him?" I ask, folding my arms over my chest. Wanda shrugs subtly.

"He is very intriguing. I don't know what he wants but I feel like he will be on our side with this." She informs. I nod in agreement.

I sense something flying towards us so I turn to the side, watching a red jacket fall into Wanda's hands. She looks at him in confusion.

"It's cute," I shrug. She just kinda stands there. "Put it on. It won't hurt ya." I smirk, walking away from them.

I see Stark, Steve, and Bruce all huddled together. Tony looks at me from over his shoulder as I walk up to them. He lets out a loud sigh.

"No way we all get through this. If even one tin soldier is left standing, we've lost. There's gonna be blood on the floor." Tony warns. I put a hand on Bruce's shoulder and give him a soft smile, knowing that he's nervous that he might be forced to fight. He hesitantly smiles back.

"I got no plans tomorrow night." Steve comments. I scoff.

"I do! I have a cute boy who can run faster than a car, a cute boy who I'm trying to make things happen with." I admit. Steve smiles in amusement.

"I was gonna ask, when did that happen?" A laugh playing on his lips. I shrug.

"I don't really know. We aren't together because of the whole robot war thing, but I'm hoping after this mess... we could hang out." I smile nervously, feeling like an embarrassed teenager telling her parents that she likes a boy.

"You're smitten." Bruce grins, pushing my shoulder lightly. I smack his hand away while trying to suppress a smile.

"Stop."

"I get first crack at the big guy. Iron mans what he's waiting for." Tony says.

"That's true. He hates you the most." Vision comments as he briskly walks by out. I burst out in laughter.

"That. Was. Amazing." I say. Tony turns his head, looking from Vision to me. He jerks his head towards him.

"Guess we see where you come into his personality." Tony retorts. I snort.

"Yeah, That and my IQ." I smirk. Stark shakes his head at me obviously telling the truth.

"Yeah well if you didn't forget, he hates you too." Tony reminds me, pointing his finger at me. I touch his, boiling his blood for a moment before he jerks away from me.

"Shit! What the hell?" He asks. I let out a laugh.

"That's what you get." I say before I start hearing over the jet, leaving them behind to follow me.

We all start boarding the jet. Sitting wherever we want. I place myself next to Pietro as he looks at a bullet.

"I'll protect you." I say quietly. Hoping he wasn't nervous about fighting. Pretty sure this was his first war after all. He looks down at me with a grin.

"We will protect each other, draga mea." I nod in agreement.

"Ultron knows we're coming now. Whether he's ready or not," Steve starts, glancing over at me for a moment. "Odds are, we'll be riding into heavy fire. And that's what we signed up for. But the people of sokovia, they didn't," Steve says, his gaze landing on Pietro before continuing. "So our priority is getting them out. All they want is to live their lives in peace. And that's not gonna happen today. But we can do our best to protect them. And we can get the job done. We find out what Ultrons been building, we find romanoff, and we clear the field. Keep the fight between us... Ultron thinks we're monsters. That we're what's wrong in the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right." Steve finishes his speech to the whole ship. Everyone's silent for a few moments.

"That... was really inspiring cap, well done." Tony teases. Steve merely sighs and everyone disperses around the ship. With a light chuckle I turn to Pietro.

"Is it ok to admit I'm nervous?" I ask. He looks at me in surprise before seeing the sincerity in my words. His looks softens before he grabs my hand, softly intertwining our fingers.

"There is no reason to fear. We will protect, we will save, and we will defeat Ultron once in for all. I have faith in your friends... and in you." I smile at him, feeling a lot more calm. I let my head fall against the wall as I squeeze his hand tightly.

The rest of the ride is quiet and no one talks much besides battle strategy and what certain people are going to be doing when we get there. I zone in when I hear my name.

"Pietro, run to the authorities and warn them, we need all the help we can get," Steve orders. "And Casey, go with him, make them believe if they're hesitant. Then start ordering as many citizens to leave their homes as you can. Wanda's going to help you there." Steve explains before giving the next person their assignments.

"I'm going to help save Nat." Bruce interrupts. Steve nods.

"That's fine by me, Banner."

I smirk over at Bruce.

"Yeah you will you little knight in shining armor." I tease, wanting them to get together already because this tension is exhausting.

"Shut up." Bruce groans, turning away from me to continue doing whatever he's doing to a certain weapon.

We land, Pietro and I are one of the first people to walk out of the jet. I look around at his home.

"It's beautiful." I tell him. I don't look but I know he's nodding.

"Let us save it." He says causing me to nod. I place each of the ear pieces in my ears, not really fond of that whole mind control thing. I think I finally understand Clint... wow.

Pietro's arm wraps around my waist and he starts off running. We reach the police station in a matter of seconds.

"We're under attack! Clear the city! Now!" Pietro yells.

"No one is save! The city isn't safe! Get as many people out as you can!" I warn, hoping they get and listen to the message. Pietro, keeping his arm around me the whole time, runs out.

I soon leave his arms and start placing my hands on peoples heads, controlling them to leave the city with their families as fast as they can. I control dozens before Pietro and I glance at the station. No one moving, no one coming, no one tries to get people out. We sigh in unison, going back into his arms to run back in.

As soon as we get in I jump away from him, tapping at multiple officers heads as Pietro shoots a gun, getting everyone's attention. I smirk at him, hopping down from the desk and walking over to him.

"Get off your asses." He comments as we walk out, officers warning others and finally listening to us.

We both walk out to see hundred of people walking, running to the quickest way out of that town. Pietro once again wraps his arms around me and I think we're about to start running when he places his cheek on my head.

"You did good... Thank you." He says quietly. I smirk.

"It wasn't all me," I say as we watch Wanda continue to flow her red magic through the city. I tap his hands around my waist.

"Come on, I gotta get more people out of here." I look up at Pietro as he smirks. I instantly squeal as Pietro surprises me, picking me up bridal style.

"This seem familiar?" He asks.

"Just go, hot rod." And we're off. Rushing into houses and stores. Getting as many people out as quickly as possible.

No one can get hurt because of what I helped create.

The ground starts shaking. Pietro and I look at each other in confusion. Suddenly Ultrons robots start randomly popping up. They're either causing cracks in the ground and climbing through them, flying through the air and already attacking people.

I rush over to the edge after hearing a noise and my eyes widen upon seeing dozens of robots climbing up the edge of the wall. I can only imagine more heading up through every side.

The world slows. I slowly look around in confusion until I realize that a robot is currently cracking the ground underneath my feet. Pietro pulls me away a few feet from the area. We look at each other in fear.

"Let's do this." He says with determination. Seeing the people of Sokovia getting hurt and continue getting hurt having affected us both.
