Chapter 26: Revenge of The Robots

Race To My Heart ☞︎ A Pietro Maximoff Fan FicWords: 8254

The flying robots start firing small bomb blasts at the ground. I watch in horror as they either hit close to people... or hit people directly. My eyes as wide as saucers, I scream.

"NOOO!" My voice radiates through the area, my palms to the side of me as my blue magic pulses over the city in one fell swoop. I ignore the firing flashes of pain that swirls in my mind, desperate for everyone to get out.

"RUN!" I scream again, ordering them all to sprint as fast as they can to get out of the city.

The all instantly start sprinting and screaming in fear. I watch for a second as the robots start landing, firing blasts at people. Pietro and I look at each other before we run towards the bots. Pietro, obviously getting there quicker then me. He busts through robot after robot as I place my fingertips on their chest, frying their circuits so Ultron won't be able to use them or save them.

I rush over to another bot, destroying its body before jumping off of it and onto a bot flying by. I see the lights on it's 'mouth' move but I'm happy to report that I don't hear a single thing that smug bastard says. I smirk, frying its body and hoping that Ultron feels all the pain of his bots dying.

I suddenly start free-falling. I really didn't think this over. I squeeze my eyes shut, ready for impact. While I'm ready for the hard ground, I'm happily surprised by the two outlines of arms I feel wrap under my legs. I open my eyes to see a smirking Pietro.

"Didn't see that coming?" He asks, his ego so over-filled its dripping on the floor. I roll my eyes.

"I knew you'd catch me." I lie easily. Not letting him know that I didn't see him coming. He chuckles making me think I didn't lie as easily as I thought...

"This area is clear for now." I hear Pietro speak to someone else through the coms.

"Good. Move on out." Steve orders. Pietro doesn't respond but nods, not looking down at me before he runs off, searching for a spot with a bigger amount of bots and civilians.

He soon stops and I guessed we've reached our destination and I hop of out his arms and he lets me. I instantly hold my hands up.

"You ready?" He asks, an underlying tone of worry in his voice. My brain waves move fluidly and ready for action while my heart beats heavily and nervous for action.

"I was made ready." I speak after a moment; Already calculating how to destroy all these bots in the quickest fashion. A whole line of bots destroying people's cars, looking for civilians to hurt.

"Good." He responds, cracking his neck with a slight smirk before he runs through, smashing all the bots in my sight in one fluid motion. As my world moves at half the speed as others, I watch him in amazement as robot parts slowly fly around the area.

I let out a breathless laugh before sprint towards the other bots. Dodging their attacks, using a hand on two bots at once.

I jump off of a car, kicking my leg out and onto a robots chest, watching in amusement as their circuit board completely rips out of their body. I continue doing this. Smashing, frying, and twisting the robots so that Ultron won't be able to escape through one of them. So that Ultron won't ever be able to harm anybody ever again.

Once I'm finished with a large batch of them, I turn around and face Pietro's shocked face. Only then do I look on the ground and see a little more than a dozen robots surrounding me in tiny little pieces. I chuckle, a little embarrassed. I open my mouth to say something when the ground shakes.

I bend my knees and hold my hands out as I try and steady myself. When I think it's stoped I stand back up, only for the ground to quake and rumble, a loud noise coming from below us. I trip over the vibrations and Pietro is holding me up in an instant.

I start to fear that more of Ultrons robots are coming through the ground.

"What is going on?" Pietro asks.

"I, have no idea." I say quietly.

Pietro and I hold each other as the ground quakes and rumbles. Some of the roads cracking down the middle. Pietro and I continue to trip and scramble over the moving and tumbling roads.

The ground moves in weird angels and we aren't close enough to see what's going on. I look past the city and towards the mountains. I gasp loudly as I realize what's happening.

"Oh my god..." I shout, clutching onto him tighter.

"What's happening?" He asks, not noticing anything.

"We're rising. In the air..! I think sokovia is... rising off of the ground." I announce, pointing to the mountain and watch closely as the base of it starts becoming lower then we are.

"Oh my god." Pietro copies my words from before.

Pietro and I clutch onto each other in fear when suddenly Pietro makes a weird face. I tap his shoulder in confusion and he looks down, remembering I can't hear anything outside of the coms. He quickly takes one out.

"What are you doing?!" I shout.

"Listen." He hisses. Ultrons voice somehow rings out through the entire city as his body shows up above us all.

"The beauty of it?" He continues after the part I hadn't heard. "The inevitability. You rise, only to fall. You, avengers, you are my meteor. My swift and terrible sword. And the earth will crack with the weight of your failure. Purge me of your computers, turn my own flesh against me. It means nothing. When the dust settles, the only thing living in this world, will be metal." Ultron announces as Sokovia's completely separated from the ground. Buildings crashing down onto the ground and most likely destroying other homes. I carefully place the second ear piece back in my ear. On top of everything, we do not need to have Ultron control me.

I look up at Pietro, allowing to show him the fear in my gaze.

"We have to stop this." I say, determination overpowering my fear. Pietro gives me a firm nod before grabbing at my waist and running.

We reach a long road filled to the brim with bots.

"Run back, and throw me." I instruct.

"What?!" He looks at me in alarm. I counter with my own firm look.

"Run back. And throw me. We'll take out these things side-by-side."

Pietro and I have a quick stare off before I quickly win.

He runs back before pushing forward and then pushing me forward. Our world moves slowly as he runs through, punching all the robots into pieces as I hold out my hands, frying the bots bodies and flying through the large pieces of them to kill the others.

As we're about to reach the end of the road, I see a very big and hard looking building coming up in my sights.

"PIETRO!" I scream into the coms.

Pietro pushes forward, grabbing me bridal style before pulling us into an alley. He gently places me down before holding his arm across his stomach, taking deep breaths in order to catch his breath. I place my hand on his chest, letting more oxygen enter his lungs as Steve's voice pops in my ear.

"Stark, you worry about bringing the city back down safely. The rest of us have one job, tear these things apart. You get hurt, hurt them back. You get killed, walk it off." Steve instructs. Pietro and I roll our eyes but then I let my own fall worryingly on an out of breath Pietro.

"You still ok, kid?" I hear Tony's voice. I groan at him before seeing Pietro hold his arms out for me to get into.

"I'm fine, Tony." I assure him as much as I am able before I jump into Pietro's arms, him running as fast as he can. Pietro and I keep running, destroying any bots on the way.

We stop as we reach a large circle of them. I look up at him with a smirk.

"Hold my ankles and spin me around as fast as you can." I instruct. Pietro chuckles but nods in agreement. I quickly lay on the floor as the bots run at us. Pietro grabs my ankles and uses his speed to spin us around. With the world slower than usual, I take my time as I fry all their circuits.

When all the bots are dead, Pietro flings his arms in the air and let's me go. I let the air whirl around me before I start to fall. The air brushes my face and I take a second to enjoy the sky as we are almost in the clouds, the mountain tops across from our sights. I land on my knee- the hero pose before I smirk up at Pietro. He pulls me into his arms.

"We make a pretty good team." He says freely with a content smile on his face despite the alarming situation.

"I guess we do." I chirp.

Our semi-moment is ruined by Clint's voice in our ear.
