"Pietro, man. You need to come get your sister. She's sacred and she's sorta freaking out." Clint informs us.
"I'll be right there." Pietro nods, his face growing serious. I smile, wrapping my arms around his neck. He looks down at me confused.
"Let's go save your sister." He smiles, wrapping his arm around me and running.
We run around the city looking for where Clint and Wandas trackers were. Pietro looks down at me nervously.
"You take her. Don't worry, I'll be safe with Clint." I assure his thoughts. Though I can't read minds...
"I will meet you." He says to assure himself and me. I nod in agreement.
We run until I see Clint and Wanda standing in the middle of the road.
"That way!" I yell up at him, pointing in the correct direction.
"All right, we're all clear here." I hear Clint's voice say.
"We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Steve yells back, sounding like he's in a struggle.
"All right, coming to you." Clint responds, looking for us. We reach them as time still moves slow.
"I'll meet you?" He looks down at me, brows furrowed. I nod, sending him a small smile. He lets me down before picking up his sister from under her legs.
"Keep up, old man!" Pietro taunts Clint as he runs away with Wanda. Clint steps back from surprise. He looks over at me as I wave.
Clint sighs, holding up his bow and arrow, aiming at Pietro. I try and suppress a smile at his actions.
"Nobody would know. Nobody." Clint days desperately. I snort in amusement. He puts his arrow back as we start running to meet them.
"The last time I saw him, an Ultron was sitting on him. Yeah, he'll be missed, that quick little bastard. I miss him already." Clint jokes as he shrugs and pretends to be sad. I laugh loudly, punching his shoulder before forcing him to quicken his pace.
"You are such a little shit." I yell, still heavily amused. We keep running towards where everyone looks to be.
Pietro seems to have dropped Wanda off as he comes running back over to me.
"Couldn't wait?" I ask as he picks me up again. He sighs.
"You were just so slow..." I gape at him as he turns us around and runs towards the others. I hear Clint faintly yell.
"Are you kidding me?!"
We reach the others just as I see Ultron fling Thor into a church a little ways away. Pietro drops me to my feet but keeps an arm around me. I see Wanda had already been fighting more of the bots. Pietro and I are about to start fighting when I hear someone yell; Thinking they're in danger, I stop moving.
"Hold your fire!" A man shouts. I turn to see the one who gave the order was bald. Confused, I touch my left ear and realize the com I had put back in had fallen out. I hear a firing of a gun. The bald man had given his order but it was too late. I look at it with wide-eyes as I was unable to move. This is now the second time my brain has failed me. I was too in shock to move.
My gaze latches onto Pietro's horrified one. He starts running towards me and I become thankful of the slow world surrounding me. He quickly grabs me, turning us so that he takes the shot in his arm. I gasp in surprise as the world goes at it's normal pace and as the bullet enters his arm, coming out through the other end.
Pietro has stopped running. With me still in his arms, his looks around until he finds the culprit. The cop- - or whatever he is, looks around at his coworkers awkwardly. Pietro throws his hands in the air as if saying, 'Come on!'
Pietro turns down to look at me, a sudden and surprise smirk on his face.
"Didn't see that coming?" He asks cockily, thinking he finally caught me from knowing he'll always be there. I mean he did just take a bullet for me. I smile, holding my hand up to his cheek.
"I'll always see you coming," I speak sincerely. I might not always see him. But I'll always know he'll be there. I'll always know he's coming. His smirk fades as it's replaced by a smile. "Lets go save the city." I say. Pietro nods before we head off into the rubble of buildings, looking to get anyone out and as safe as possible.
We follow the screams and cries, each grabbing a few people to guide of out the rubble. I can faintly make out Steve's form but I hear his voice clear as day.
"The next wave is gonna hit any minute. What do you got, Stark?" Steve asks, pushing the person towards the streets. We all follow and go back in.
"Well, nothin' great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guess can get clear." Tony says sullenly. Pietro and I glance at each other as we follow him.
"I asked for a solution, not an escape plan." Steve says sternly. Off in the distance we see Wanda guiding dozens. We rush over to help her.
"Impact Radha is getting bigger every second. We're gonna have to make a choice." Tony explains.
"Cap, these people are going nowhere. If stark finds a way to blow this rock..." Nat trails off. Pietro and I now separated from her and Steve.
"Not till everyone's safe." Steve argues.
"Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there."
"I'm not leaving this rock with one civilian on it." Steve continues to argue.
"I didn't say we should leave..." worry grows in my pit at the tone in her voice. I stumble forward, feeling heavy. Listening to every word more clearly. "There's worse ways to go. Where else am I gonna get a view like this?" Nat says.
I jerk, feeling a hand on my back. I look up at a worried Pietro.
"What is wrong? Are you hurt?" He asks with urgency. I shake my head, holding out my arm.
"I need you to run to the edge. Run to Natasha and Cap." I practically beg, pleading with my eyes. He nods instantly, scooping me up and rushing forwards.
"Glad you like the view, Romanoff. It's about to get better." We suddenly hear in all our coms. I laugh out gleefully.
"Who is that?" Pietro asks.
"Nicky!" I shout into my coms. I can faintly hear him sigh through the other end.
Pietro and I reach the edge. Not the edge we wanted to get too. But an edge no less. I smile widely as I watch Pietro's gaping reaction to the ginormous jet currently flying in the air.
Pietro looks down at me with a smirk. He shrugs before scooping me back up.
"Nice right? Pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do." Nicky says with a smug tone in his voice.
"Fury, you son of a butch." Cap swears AGAIN.
"Ooh! You kiss your mother with that mouth?"
Pietro sets me down as we reach Nat and Steve. He can't keep his eyes off the thing. We all watch as smaller jet things release from the giant jet/plane thing and float around the edge of the flying city. I can't keep my eyes off of Pietro for very long though, enjoying his reaction.
"This is S.H.I.E.L.D.?" Pietro asks.
"This is what S.H.I.E.L.D. Is suppose to be." Steve corrects. Pietro lets out a chuckle
"This is not so bad."
"Let's load them up." Steve says, running to get back to work. We all follow him, rushing to the groups of people.
We get to a group of people. Steve looks down at me expectantly. I nod, putting pressure on a spot around my throat. Making it loud and clear to hear as though as I was Cornelius Fudge at the Quidditch World Cup.
"If everyone can follow us, we have jets that will fly you all to safety. Please run and try and keep up." I say calmly so that everyone may hear. I see some people flinch at the sudden loudness. We all run to the jets, looking back only to see if people are following and keeping up.
"I got about 50 to 100 more coming in after this group." I hear Steve yell to someone working the jet. I smile watching all the people who are still safe and alive, finally fleeing from this mess.
My smile drops as guilt begins to eat me up inside... if I hadn't helped... if I hadn't let Tony convince Bruce... NONE of this would've happened. Tony is smart but he can't do anything on his own. I just... let it happen! Of course I didn't think this would happen but what good has happened with ANY of Tony's plans. He's an idiotic genius!
