Chapter 4: It All Started With A Wink

Race To My Heart ☞︎ A Pietro Maximoff Fan FicWords: 8247

Natasha drives the Jeep through the snowy woods as Clint fires arrows at his targets. While I sit patiently, waiting to get out of the car so I can actually do something.

My view turns to the sky as Thor jumps in the air beating about five guys at once.

"Show off." I mumble.

We keep driving when a Hydra soldier jumps onto the car. My eyes widen in alarm.

"Do you want to do something?!" Natasha yells. Oh yeah! I stand up, quickly tapping at certain areas on his head making blue ripples appear on his armor. The soldier instantly falls off the car and I sit down feeling so satisfied doing something that I almost don't notice the headache.

Natasha speeds up as we reach Cap, Thor, and Bruce aka the hulk as he's now throwing soldiers all over the place. I watch him in amusement before Natasha jerks the car, her and Clint jumping out.

I jump out of myself, use the gear shift to lift myself up, and leap from off of the top of the car.

I land on a soldiers neck, quickly making them pass out before I use his head to cartwheel myself to the other soldier standing next to him as I do the same. I smile, breathing in the fresh air of the mountains.

"What a nice day."

"Yeah it's great, now get to work O'Conner." Tony orders. I roll my eyes but start running towards the large building.

"Who found this place again?" I taunt, hitting a guy in the middle of his chest before kicking his legs in a way that would make him feel paralyzed. Though he wasn't.

I run to my next soldier as I watch tony fly to the building but he quickly gets pushed back. I look closer and realize there's a force field covering the entire thing.

"Shit!" He yells in aggravation.

"Language!" Steve reprimands making me snort. "Jarvis, whats the view from upstairs?" He asks. Jarvis' voice is soon sounding in all of our ears.

I'm suddenly standing between two guys. I face one, quickly turning around to kick the other in the balls, he falls to his knees. I turn to the first guy and shrug as he stares at me.

"An oldie but a goodie." I smirk, jumping on his knee to wrap my legs around his neck, he soon collapses in exhaustion. The other guy stumbles up.

"How'd that feel?" I ask with a pout. I run over to him and grab it at the right angle. With a flick of my wrist, I break his dick. He shouts in pain, falling once again. I move my hand to make him pass out when he does so on his own accord.

"I always found passing out from pain to be such an interesting thing." I smirk.

"The central building is protected by some kind of energy field," Jarvis starts saying as I forgot he was even there. I mean, I could've told them that. "Struckers technology is well beyond any other Hydra base we've taken." Jarvis explains.

I run at a tree, kicking off a certain angle to kick two soldiers in the head at the right place as they start getting an unbearable migraine.

"Loki's scepter must be here. Strucker couldn't mount this defense without it. At long last." Thor sounds through the mic.

My head snaps over to my left as Natasha comes into view, punching a guy in the face. I chuckle and rush over to help her up before we start fighting side-by-side as we each take down two guys at a time.

"At long last is lasting a little long, boys." Natasha says, we both turn around to see another soldier. Natasha quickly shoots them.

"Yeah. I think we lost the element of surprise." Clint comments.

"Oh, ya think?!" I yell into the coms as I smash a guy on top of the head.

"Wait a second. No one else is gonna deal with the fact that Cap just said "language"?" I snort again, fighting off three soldiers.

"I have been laughing about that for the past fifteen minutes." I say. I hear Steve sigh.

"I know," he says shyly. We hear a crash on his side of the coms. "It just slipped out." He says breathless.

"Hehehe. That's great." I mumble, back-kicking a guy in the face.

A soldier without a mask opens his mouth to speak to me when I lean forward and tap certain parts of his jaw.

"Now. You may never speak again." I smile before placing my thumbs on the side of his head, resulting in him falling to the ground and some liquid dripping from his ears.

"Whoops." I smirk. My gaze flickers upwards as I see Clint going into an area where there are little reinforcements. I frown and start making my way over to him.

I watch as he fires an arrow at something. Something quick. I stumble back.

"What the hell?" I whisper. I quickly hide behind a tree and watch. Clint goes to fire another arrow when whatever hit him made him flip in the air and fall flat on his face. I laugh out loud, quickly covering my mouth. I look back out from the tree and gasp.

As the most gorgeous human being I have ever seen walks past Clint with a smirk on his face. I'm too far to tell what he said. I watch as he speeds past me, back into the fight. I smile and run after him.

I hear a grunt and stop.

"Clint!" Natasha shouts.

"Hey buddy, old pal. You need me?" I ask into the mic. I can hear Clint's shuddering breath.

"Nah, no. I'm good. Keep doing your thing."

"My thing, is helping people." I say, trying to find him again.

"No," Clint shouts. "Go." He orders. I sigh but start running again as Steve says.

"We have an enhancement in the field."

"Clint's hit. Somebody wanna deal with that bunker?" Natasha asks and I instantly see Bruce jump over me.

"So smitten." I smirk.

"Thank you." I hear Natasha say softly.

I run so fast, trying to find this guy that I'm too busy to notice anything else. A blast sounds out from somewhere close to me and I stop, panic bubbling up inside me as a blast from another bunker is heading straight for me.

Time starts moving in slow motion. Confusion replaces the panic as I look around at my surroundings and realize... everyone's moving really slowly.

"What, is going on?" I question out loud. I look to the right and my eyes widen as I see the gorgeous boy running towards me. I close my eyes in fear, not knowing what he's gonna do with me- - and it's not like I can move! The shock completely paralyzing me.

I feel myself being lifted in air and I fear he's flipped me like Clint when two arms wrap under my legs securely. I feel the wind whip around me and suddenly times moving forward again. I open to my eyes to look up at the boy in confusion when I let a small gasp leave my lips. His eyes looked as blue as ice and his hair was... silver. But it didn't look to be dye.

A tingling sensation resonates from my hand, causing me to look down and see it's placed on his chest. I look back up into his enchanting eyes.

"Why did you save me?" I whisper. The boy tries to inhale a few times before he gulps.

"I don't know..." he trials off. Looking and sounding as confused as I feel. He slowly walks forward and places me behind a tree.

"Stay safe." He says quietly. He starts walking away when he looks back, sending me a wink. I can't even move. Every atom in my body feels frozen in shock. I finally feel as though I might be able to move again when he runs out of sight. I place a hand on my chest, touching a place that allows more oxygen to enter- - I need it. Deeply.

"Stark, we really need to get inside." Steve says.

"Wait, what's happening." I ask, feeling like I can start catching up with everything.

"I'm closing in." Stark says simply. And ignoring my question.

"Jarvis, am I closing in? Do you see a power source for that shield? Casey?" Stark says to Jarvis, though we can all hear it. I start making soldiers pass out again though I start following the boys advice. I punch a guy in the nose.

"I don't think I can make technology pass out Stark. I haven't really tried." I yell as I make four more soldiers pass out.

"There's a particle wave below the north tower." Jarvis says.

"Great, I want to poke it with something. Casey, mind trying something else for me?" He asks. I sigh, bringing some guys face down to smash against my knee as I tap his head, breaking his skull. You can't die from that right?

"Sure. Pick me up?" I ask.

"Mhm." He says. I watch as he propelled a small bomb at the building. Effectively destroying it.

"The drawbridge is down, people." He says. I watch as he flies through the air.

"I'm waiting." I mutter.

"Coming your way." He replies instantly, and all I can think is 'finally'. I was not a patient woman.
