Chapter 25 Just A Free Servant Helen had an operation to do, so she didnât have time to say goodbye to Cynthia. She only asked the nurse to give Cynthia a message, asking her to get well and go back to the hospital as soon as possible.
In the end, Greg arranged a car to get Cynthia back home, and Alston never showed up from beginning to end.
Cynthiaâs expectations gradually cooled down, saying nothing all the way. And she was not in a good mood.
Soon, they arrived home. Greg commanded the servant to carry the luggage, and Cynthia walked into the living room leisurely.
Stella didnât go out shopping or play cards that day, which was quite rare. She was sitting in the living room, drinking black tea.
When she saw Cynthia walking in alone, she mockingly smiled.
âOh, Cynthia? I thought it was a guest. But it turned out to be you. How dare you come back?â
Cynthia was about to go upstairs when she heard that. She paused and said, âHow dare I? I didnât do anything that made me too embarrassed to come back!â
Stella snorted coldly, slamming down the cup in her hand. She said with a strange tone, âEveryone knows that you were kidnapped. Do you know what they are saying about you? Do you know the Smith family is humiliated because of you? How shameless are you?â
What they were saying about Cynthia?
Cynthia was stunned. She had been in the hospital for so many days, and Greg didnât tell her anything about it. She didnât know the whole world knew it already.
Noticing that Cynthia was stunned, Stella continued, âThey all know Alston chose to save that woman and shot you. As his wife, donât you think youâre a total failure? Youâd better be smart and divorce my son. Donât embarrass yourself more. Well, you donât have to worry about your future life. Weâll compensate you.â
Cynthia turned extremely pale. She bit her lip, trying to control her emotions.
âI respected you because youâre my husbandâs mom. And you exactly know why I was kidnapped. Iâm still a member of the Smith family. You donât really have to handle those rumors, but you really shouldnât threaten me now. This is too much.â
have Hearing that, Stella sneered, âA member of the Smith family? Who do you think you are? I agreed to you instead of your sister marry into our family, but it was only because Alston was in a coma, and I wanted a free servant for my son. Now heâs fine. We donât need an extra servant. Do you really think I will let a bastard be my sonâs wife?â
So in Stellaâs eyes, Cynthia was just a free servant.
Cynthia felt hard to think at that moment. Her heart couldnât even beat. She didnât know what to say.
Alstonâs mother said so. What would he say?
Did he see her as a free servant? Did he only want her because he needed her? Now he was fine, and his favorite first love returned. He didnât need her anymore. Was she bound to be abandoned by him?
âMrs. Smith, your room is ready. Please, go upstairs and have a rest.â
Just then, Greg interrupted her thoughts.
Cynthia hurried up the steps like she was escaping. Yet just after two steps, she turned around, gritting her teeth, and looked at Stella.
âI will only leave when he wants to kick me out. I wonât divorce him. No matter what you say or how you threaten me!â
After that, she ran back to her room without waiting for Stellaâs reply.
Stella was so angry that she stood up directly and shouted, âAlston was just being nice to you! Donât flatter yourself. Let me tell you this. Huldaâs back! You wonât stay here for long!â
Hearing that, Greg frowned tightly.
He thought, âShe is really good at making things difficult for Mr. Smith. Well, I guess misunderstanding between Mr. and Mrs.
Smith will only get deepened.â
âMadam, Iâm afraid Mr. Smith wonât be happy when he hears this.â
the Greg tried to remind Stella, but Stella glared at Greg, âAre you telling me what I should do?â
âI am not.â Greg lowered his head, but he didnât make himself humble, âMr. Smith talked to you. once. And I thought you knew what you should say and what you shouldnât.â
Stella remembered Alstonâs warning to her before, but she didnât take it seriously. Stella thought that she was the mother, and Alston wouldnât do anything to her no matter what she did.
âAre you saying that Iâm not qualified to say those things as Cynthiaâs mother-in-law?â
Greg wanted to roll his eyes, actually. Stella was Cynthiaâs mother-in-law, but not a good or nice one. He wondered how Stella grew up in the Brooks family. She was too ill-bred to be a Brooks.
Alston and his father were all gentlemen, but Alstonâs mother was too rude, just like a savage. Greg felt sorry for them.
When the Brooks family and the Brooks family were about to unite by marriage, Alstonâs father was marrying Stellaâs sister. However, Stella used some dirty tricks. As a result, she was pregnant, and Alstonâs father had to marry her for the sake of the baby.
Stella was vulgar and always unreasonable. She had nothing more than her pretty face. After Alston was born, she never took care of him for a single day. She only did the shopping and had her own fun. She was not close to her husband or to her son.
Now that the Brooks family was in decline, she could only rely on Alston. She was old, but unfortunately, she was still that stupid.
Greg sighed, looked up, saw a tall figure enter the door, and paused, âMr. Smith, why are you back?â
âDonât try to threaten me with Alston.â Stella thought Greg was making it up.
Alston unbuttoned his cuffs and looked tired, âJust coming back to fetch something.â
He scanned the living room but didnât see Cynthia. He was disappointed.
Stella didnât expect that Alston really returned. She was so scared that she turned pale.
âWhat were you arguing about?â Alston said in a low voice. Before he entered the door, he heard Stella yelling at Greg, which make him really irritated.
Stella wanted to speak, but Greg said it first. He made everything clear in a few words.
Alstonâs face suddenly darkened. He was always cold, but when he was not in a good mood, he looked even scarier.
Stella was also scared and couldnât help but take two steps back.
âGreg wonât lie to me!â Alston said coldly, âI warned you last time not to say those things to Cynthia. You didnât understand my words, did you?â
âAlston... itâs not like that... Itâs Cynthiaâs fault. She was being disrespectful to me...â
Stella trembled, trying to explain, but Alston stopped her from saying more.
âGreg, freeze all her bank cards and inform all luxury stores. From now on, they donât have to send. new products to our family every month.â
Alston coldly commanded, and Greg soon started to act. He took out his phone and called those luxury stores one by one.
Stella was always vain, and all her interests were in shopping. Now all her bank cards were frozen, and those luxuries were gone. She suddenly collapsed and went crazy.
She glared at Alston and shouted loudly, âAlston, Iâm your mother. Itâs unfilial of you to do this to me for her sake.â
Alston turned his head and looked at her coldly, âYouâre my mother but not a good mother. You think I would still be filial to you after what you did?â
Stella was shocked for a while. She was so mad that she trembled with anger.
Alston didnât even look at her and turned upstairs, âAlso, in my heart, your weight is far less than Cynthiaâs, so donât compare yourself with her in the future. You wonât win.â
Stella looked at his indifferent back. Suddenly, she lost her strength, and her chest was constantly fluctuating with anger.
Greg finished the phone calls and glanced at Stella, âMadam, I just warned you.â
It was a pity that she didnât take it seriously. Technically, Stella deserved to be treated like that.
Greg then turned around and left. Behind him, Stella smashed the cup on the ground.
