âKarmaâs a bitch, you know,â Collin said. âThe punk who messed with Anastasiaâs brakes is still rotting in jail.â
Julie surprisingly responded, âAnastasia sure is a tough cookie, surviving such a horrific crashâ
Collin frowned. âMaybe you should stay away, in case you blurt out something that pisses everyone off.â
He could sense Julieâs animosity towards Anastasia Julie wasnât sincerely visiting Anastasia, she probably just wanted to see how badly injured Anastasia was.
âAlright, Iâll keep my mouth shut. Iâm just here to look,â Julie said. âIâm already at the door. I definitely have to go in.â
Collin said, âThen donât say youâre with me I donât want to get chewed out by Herman.â
Anastasia had been in a coma for a week now, Salma was falling apart. Katelyn took Salma to Harmony Meadows to live with her, taking care of her around the clock. She also had to worry about Herman not holding up in the hospital, having the house servants prepare delicious meals for him every day.
Herman had lost his appetite, often leaving his meals untouched. Monica saw how Herman was sticking with Anastasia through thick and thin, which gave her peace of mind for whatever would happen in the future.
Lauren was stunned when she first visited Anastasia in the hospital and saw that the man beside Anastasia was the one she had been crushing on. She was in a daze for a while.
Anastasiaâs husband turned out to be the CEO of Elysian Technologies. If it werenât for Flynn pulling Lauren aside to explain, she would have thought Anastasia had been lying to her all along. Knowing the Salstrom family was keeping this from Anastasia, Lauren had to play dumb at this critical time.
A few days later, Lauren remembered something. Early in the morning, she rushed to the hospital and pulled Flynn outside.
âThe hunk Anastasia said she would introduce to me was you, wasnât it? You knew it was me and purposely said you had a girlfnend, right?â Lauren was slow to react. It took her several days to realize this.
Flynn laughed. âWhy would I need to do that? I can have any woman I want, all the way from here to France.â
Lauren taunted, âYou donât seem like youâre from the Salstrom family at all. Look at your big brother, heâs so devoted. But you, youâre a playboy. It was wise of me to not fall for you.â
Flynn didnât care and laughed. âWhatâs the matter, did I get in your way? You say you donât like me, as if I have any interest in you.â
Furious, Lauren stomped on Flynnâs foot. âScumbag.â She left with these words.
Flynn jumped up in pain. âAnnoying woman, you wait and see.â
Hearing this, Lauren was even more furious and stormed back to Flynn. Flynn was on guard. âWhat are you doing? Iâm warning you, donât come any closer. Be careful, I might defend myself and hurt you.â
Lauren stomped at Flynn again, but this time Flynn was prepared and managed to dodge. However, before he could celebrate, his other foot was trampled on by Lauren. He grimaced in pain while Lauren smugly walked away.
âYouâre such a tomboy, who would dare to be with you?â Flynn retorted.
Lauren ignored him and went straight into Anastasiaâs room, noticing that Julie and Collin were there too.
As a fan of Herman, Lauren naturally knew that Julie also had feelings for Herman. They were in the same social circle, and she had heard at a cocktail party that Julie was following Herman. Knowing Herman was already married, yet she still trailed after him, how shameless!
Seeing Julie about to enter the room, Lauren stepped forward to stop her, âJulie, long time no see, letâs chat outside.â
Julie tried to break free. âLauren, what do we have to talk about? Iâm here to visit Anastasia.â
They didnât have much of a relationship, just people from the same circle. Even if they were in the same venue, they would ignore each -other.
âWhat are you doing here, Anastasia doesnât have much of a connection with you either.â Without hesitation, Lauren pulled Julie away. âAnastasia is Hermanâs lawfully wedded wife. You should stop hanging around Herman. Have some self-respect.â
