Chapter 338
Granny Annie made up her mind to confront Anastasia, but Julie didnât dare tag along, for she feared earning Hermanâs wrath. âGranny, the dinner party is about to start, and with so many people around, I think itâs best not to upset Herman. He might blame me if he finds out that I spilled the beans.â Julie confessed, her face a mask of trepidation.
âIâll confront that woman on my own, Julie. I appreciate your honesty, or else Iâd still be clueless and fooled by her.â Granny Annie declared, âRest assured, I wonât let anything out of the bag. Hermanâs head over heels for her right now, but Iâm going to wake him up.â Granny Annie was determined to pair Herman with Julie, so she couldnât let Herman hold a grudge against her. âGranny, please try to calm down. Donât let your anger get the best of you.â Julie pleaded, adding fuel to the fire, âOnce Herman announces Anastasiaâs identity at the party tonight, itâll be too late.â
âAs long as Iâm around, that woman wonât step foot into the Salstrom family. What a bunch of fools!â Granny Annie fumed.
Just then, the stage lights brightened, and a line-up of A-list celebrities began to perform. The opening ceremony had begun.
Herman, Feiman and Flynn were seated among the audience, and as per the itinerary, Herman, being the CEO of Elysian Technologies, was to give a speech after the opening ceremony. During this segment, Herman would introduce Anastasia to the public.
Realizing this, Granny Annie hastily made her way to the backstage. She had to prevent Anastasia from appearing on stage.
Noticing Granny Annie leaving her seat, Katelyn grew worried and excused herself from Salma and Pattie, following Granny Annieâs direction. Katelyn caught up with Granny Annie in the hotel corridor.
âMom, the party has begun. Where are you going?â Katelyn asked, trying to support Granny Annie.
Over, the years, Katelyn had tried to mend her relationship with her mother-in-law, but Granny Annie had been unreceptive.

âIâm busy. Mind your own business.â Granny Annie retorted, glaring at Katelyn, âYouâre a poor mother and a worse judge of character. You let that woman into the Salstrom family. Are you trying to ruin us?â
Katelyn was taken aback, âMom, what are you talking about? Are you upset about Anastasia?â
âDonât play dumb with me.â Granny Annie snapped, âDo you even know what kind of woman Herman is marrying? Do you know anything about her background?â
âI do, Mom.â Katelyn replied calmly, âAna is a talented jewelry designer.â
âYouâre lying to me! I know the truth. She never even attended college and was a street vendor. Is the Salstrom family so desperate that weâre marrying into such a lowly background?â Granny Annie retorted angrily, âYouâre a disgrace as a mother.â
Katelyn was taken aback, âMom, yes, Ana was a street vendor. But so what? Didnât the Salstrom family also start from humble beginnings? Ana is kind and intelligent, and she and Herman are in love. The Salstrom family doesnât need to solidify its position through marriage anymore. Whatâs wrong with Herman choosing someone he loves?â
âYouâre backtalking me.â Granny Annie retorted, seething, âThat woman canât bear children. Sheâll end the Salstrom lineage. Did you know that? Hermanâs been covering for her, claiming heâs sterile. Do you know that? Youâre all clueless.â
âWhat?â Katelyn was shocked, âAna canât have children?â
Granny Annie glared at Katelyn, âMove aside. I need to find that woman and tell her to leave Herman.â
Pushing past Katelyn, Granny Annie stormed towards the room.
Upon hearing the door to the room slam shut, Katelyn quickly followed, despite her mother-in-lawâs harsh words. She feared Granny Annie would cause a scene.
