Chapter 348
Suburban Neighborhood.
Herman took Anastasia to their new house. They crossed the front yard hand in hand, through the grand foyer, and up to the second floor. Looking around the extravagant mansion, Anastasia asked, âWhy does this place look different from the last time we were here?â
âI had it renovated.â Herman replied, âI planned for us to move in right after our anniversary celebration.â
Herman led her upstairs into the master bedroom, and gently asked, âWould you like to take a bath first?â
A bath would certainly help to ease any tension.
Sitting on the plush king-sized bed, Anastasia looked at him, her voice laced with suspicion, âTell me the truth, Herman. Did you deceive me? Can you actually have children? Did you lie to me because you knew Iâm infertile?â
âThatâs all in the past now.â Herman said, sitting beside her. His hands were gently holding her shoulders. âYouâre my wif; Pattie is our daughter. Thatâs all that matters. Donât overthink it.â Herman said.
Anastasia shook her head, âHerman, itâs not as simple as you think. Your parents and your grandmother, they all know I canât bear children. They wonât accept me. Things can never be the way they were.â
âIâll handle it.â Herman said, tenderly brushing a stray lock of hair from her face, âYou married me. These are my responsibilities, not yours. I should have taken care of it sooner.â
Touched by his words, Anastasia flung herself into Hermanâs arms. In a fit of anger, she punched his chest, âWhy are you so kind, Herman? So kind that I donât have the courage to leave you. You shouldnât have come after me.â
With a warm smile, Herman caught her hand, âAnastasia, being unable to bear children is not a big deal. The Salstrom family already has Flynn to carry on the lineage. And who says everyone has to be the same? Who made the rule that marriage must result in children?â
Knowing his words were mostly to comfort her, she had no idea how to argue. âBut your parents and your grandmother, they donât think the same way. Neither do I.â Anastasia sat upright, looking at him, âI really, really want to have a child of our own.â
When people truly loved someone, they yearned to conceive a child together and to watch them grow from birth..
Herman comforted her with a smile, âMedical technology is so advanced now. If you want a baby, once your health recovers, we can opt for IVF. Itâs all the same. So, itâs not a problem at all.â
Due to the car accident, Anastasiaâs health was severely compromised. Even if she wanted a child, it couldnât be now.
The mention of IVF reignited hope in Anastasia. Her heart wasnât as heavy as before. âTheyâre right. I must have saved the universe in my past life to have you.â She said.
He laughed, âMaybe I owe you a lot from our past lives, and Iâm repaying you in this one. Donât take Grandmaâs words to heart. Sheâs always been stubborn, and she hasnât gotten along with my mom for over twenty years now.â
âHerman, youâre too good.â Anastasia praised sincerely from the bottom of her heart. A man who could comfort his wife at the first instance was definitely a good husband.
He chuckled, âOnly now youâre realizing how good your husband is? Who else would comfort you if not me? Unless it reaches the point of divorce, a man should be prepared to indulge and pacify his wife. Or else conflicts would hurt the marital relationship, and Iâd still have to pacify you in the end. Isnât that redundant?â
âYouâre so wise.â Anastasia gazed at him, passionately kissed his lips, and started unfastening his belt.
