Chapter 4
Anastasia could no longer move the huge box, her hands were losing strength. Just when the box was about to hit the ground, a pair of hands suddenly held it up, and a deep voice sounded from above.
âLet me help youâ.
Anastasia looked up, and the man before her handed her his umbrella, took the large box from her hands, and started moving toward the residential area. She was stunned for a couple of seconds, then quickly snapped back to reality, hurriedly catching up to the man to hold the umbrella for him.
Herman had done his homework on Anastasia, so he knew exactly where she lived and skillfully managed to haul the box to her apartment building, leaving it by the elevator.
âThank you so much, Anastasia expressed her gratitude. âI really donât know how to thank you. If it wasnât for you, my stuff wouldâve gotten soaked. I can give you some money, or maybe treat you to a meal.â
Anastasia had face blindness and was also myopic. She forgot to wear her contact lenses that day, and her glasses were left in the car, so she didnât recognize the man in front of her. The man who had been her husband for a few days.
If you counted carefully, they only met for an hour that day. They hadnât communicated at all in the past few days.
She was truly grateful for the manâs help. If the stuff had fallen and gotten wet, the loss wouldâve been significant.
Herman gazed deeply at Anastasia, saying, âYou donât have to give me money, or treat me to a meal. Just invite me up for a glass of water.â
In the middle of the night, a strange man was asking to enter her home, Anastasia understood what that meant. She immediately eyed the man suspiciously, any goodwill she had for him evaporating, âIâm⦠Iâm marriedâ
Herman smirked, âSeems like you havenât completely forgotten. Youâre aware youâre married.â
He moved closer to her, saying, âWell then, have a good look. Am I not your husband?â
When his handsome face was up close, Anastasiaâs eyes widened in surprise, âYou⦠you areâ¦â
She forgot his name.
He sighed. âHerman.â
She blushed, asking, âWhen did you get back?â
âI just returned from a business trip in another city Herman explained, standing tall. Iâve been busy these past few days, so I couldnât contact you.â
âItâs Itâs alright.â
He nodded. I can see that.â
Whether he was there or not, it didnât matter to her. Anastasia probably hadnât adjusted to the fact that she had a husband and had even forgotten about
him
Anastasia awkwardly explained, âI have face blindness, and Iâm a bit myopic. I forgot to wear my glasses, and it was dark, so I didnât recognize you. I didnât do it on purpose.â
Anastasiaâs clothes were soaked by the rain, sticking to her skin, and perfectly outlining her figure. Her features were delicate, her eyes bright, and she was incredibly beautiful. Particularly her chest, which was very eyeâcatching
Herman slightly furrowed his brows, taking off his coat to drape it over her. âGo change your clothes quickly. Donât catch a coldâ
Anastasia looked down and immediately blushed.
âThanks!â She was embarrassed, wishing she could hide somewhere, then asked, âYour clothes are wet too. Do you want to come up and change into something dry?â
As soon as she asked, Anastasia regretted it. Would Herman misunderstand her intentions?
Herman looked at her with a smile, noting every subtle change in her expression. This woman was easily embarrassed.
She was completely different from the socialites he usually interacted with. She was like a wildflower growing on a cliff, unassuming, but resilient
Her shyness didnât diminish her femininity. She wasnât a flower nurtured in a greenhouse, she had a strong personality.
Seeing that he didnât respond immediately, Anastasia was about to say something, but he said, âNo.â
She was rejected, and Anastasia felt a bit awkward. He saw through her thoughts and continued, âItâs too late now. It wouldnât be appropriate for me to meet your parents for the first time like this. Iâll prepare some gifts and visit formally another day.â
Anastasia replized that her previous suggestion was indeed inappropriate.
The elevator doors opened, and Herman helped move the large box inside, âYou should get some rest, and make some preparations.â
Anastasia instinctively asked, âPrepare for what?â
Seeing her puzzled look, he laughed, âWeâre legally married now. Shouldnât you be moving in with me?â
Anastasia suddenly realized sheâd completely forgotten about this. Legally married couples should live together. When she registered their marriage, she hadnât thought about this. She was just satisfied with being a legal couple. If they lived together, would they have to share a bed?
Seeing the change in Anastasiaâs expression, Herman knew she didnât seem to be rejecting the idea.
Shed been so decisive when they got married, that she couldnât hesitate now.
ââ¦Alright.â
