Chapter 420
For the past several months, Grannie Anita had been trying to persuade Anastasia to visit her home. She had been asking Flynn about Anastasiaâs condition, hoping that Flynn would deliver the message to Anastasia and Herman that she was slowly accepting her future great-grandchild.
Last night, with Herman around, Grannie Anita couldnât find the opportunity to act, but now she finally had the chance. She wasnât about to let it slip away.
Grannie Anita wasnât afraid of her plan being exposed. Her first move was to eliminate the unborn child. She believed that her grandson would understand her intentions once her ploy was revealed.
Grannie Anita didnât want to expose Anastasia right now, not only because she was afraid of alerting Anastasia and Herman, but also because she feared they wouldnât believe her, rendering her efforts useless.
Grannie Anita slipped an abortion-inducing pill into a glass of water, followed by sugar. This was a potent drug she had procured from abroad. She knew that once Anastasia consumed it, it wouldnât take long for the unborn child to be expelled.
Once all was prepared, Grannie Anita carried the glass to the dining room, where Anastasia was having her meal. Katelyn was showing Anastasia some new baby clothes she had bought, and the two were chatting and laughing among themselves.
âAnastasia, have some water,â Grannie Anita said. Her smile was warm and motherly as
she offered the glass to Anastasia.
Anastasia was taken aback. âGrandma, thank you for bringing me water.â
âYouâre carrying the future of the Salstrom family. Itâs my duty to ensure youâre comfortable,â Grannie Anita replied. Her tone was light and jovial. âAnastasia, drink up. Iâve realized the error of my past ways. Nothing
is more important than harmony within the family.â
With Grannie Anita herself offering her water, Anastasia had no reason to refuse. However, she was taken aback by the elder womanâs words. The stubborn Grannie Anita was accepting her and even serving her water? Something felt off to Anastasia, so she hesitated to drink the water.
Sensing Anastasiaâs hesitation, Grannie Anita urged her, âAnastasia, drink up.â
âThank you, Grandma,â Anastasia replied, taking the glass.
Katelyn, seeing Grannie Anitaâs change, encouraged Anastasia, âAna, drink up.â
With Katelynâs assurance, Anastasia decided to drink the water. She reasoned that Grannie Anita would never harm her own great-grandchild.

Chapter 420
Just as she was about to take a sip, Anastasia noticed a strange smell. Ever since she had become pregnant, her sense of smell had become more sensitive.
For some inexplicable reason, she didnât dare to drink the water and pretended to accidentally drop the glass onto the floor. The glass shattered, and Grannie Anitaâs face turned green with shock and anger.
Anastasia noticed Grannie Anitaâs expression, more certain that something was wrong with the water.
âIâm sorry, Grandma,â Anastasia apologized. âThe baby just kicked. I was so surprised that I lost hold of the glass.â
Katelyn quickly led Anastasia away from the broken glass. âAna, be careful not to step on the shards. Sierra, come clean this up.â
Despite her inner turmoil, Grannie Anita managed to maintain a calm facade. âItâs just water. Be careful. Donât get hurt.â
âI should be going. I have a meeting with a friend,â Anastasia excused herself, eager to leave the Salstrom Manor.
âAlright, Iâll have the chauffeur drive you,â Katelyn replied.
Once she was safely away from the manor, Anastasia felt a wave of relief. However, she couldnât shake off her uneasiness. She couldnât believe that Grannie Anita would harm
her own great-grandchild.
Despite her suspicions, Anastasia didnât dare to confide in Herman. Instead, she decided to share her concerns with Monica at the beauty salon.
When Monica heard about Grannie Anitaâs odd behavior, she was shocked. âAna, do you think she is possessed? She didnât seem too happy when she found out you were
pregnant.â
âThatâs whatâs bothering me too,â Anastasia admitted. âDo you think she would harm my unborn child? The water smelled strange. It wasnât just normal water.â
