After the fall Chap 11

The Rise Of The Lone Spellblade640 words~4 min read

Age: 10

Level: 5

Location: Fenward Dungeon – Boss Room

Valen awoke to silence.

His back ached. His lungs burned. Every part of him felt like it had been torn apart and stitched together again with stone and fire. He blinked slowly, the ceiling above him still glowing faint red from the dungeon’s dying crystals.

"I'm... alive?"

He pushed himself up with a groan. Dried blood cracked at the corner of his mouth. His sword was lying a few feet away, still faintly humming with leftover energy. The remains of the Bound Warden lay scattered near the broken platform — ribs splintered, the bone cleaver split in two.

BOSS DEFEATED

The message echoed once again in his memory, and with it, the quiet chime of something far more exciting.

You have levelled up!

Valen – Level 5

+2 Strength

+1 Dexterity

+1 Endurance

New Skill Unlocked: Echo Step (Active)

Rare Item Acquired: Warden’s Bone Sigil

Unique Weapon Drop Acquired: Bone Sword

Valen coughed, then laughed weakly. "Still breathing… and richer."

He sat back and opened his Status Screen, swiping one bloodstained finger through the air.

┏ STATUS ┓

He tapped into his skills, a small panel opened.

Echo Step (Active)

A burst-speed movement technique.

The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.

Blink up to 5 meters in a flash of light and sound. The step creates a shockwave audible within 30 meters.

If used while attacking, Echo Step causes a second delayed strike (40%–60% DMG) from the afterimage.

Cooldown: 12 seconds

Mana Cost: 10

Valen raised an eyebrow. "Flash step with an aftershock? That’s... perfect."

He flipped to his passives next.

Instinctive Parry (Passive)

Automatically attempts to parry incoming melee strikes.

Activation Chance: Low (10–15%)

Damage Reduction: 40% when successful.

Will not trigger on ranged or magic attacks.

“Explains why I’m not dead.” He muttered, remembering the moment he blocked the Warden’s cleaver without even thinking.

Next, he opened Momentum Slash.

Momentum Slash (Active)

Converts body movement into raw force.

Damage increases with current how fast you are going and the distance traveled before attack.

Base DMG: 120%+

Additional DMG: Varies on Current Traveling Speed

Cooldown: 8 seconds

Stamina Cost: 15

Valen grinned. “So if I keep getting faster, this becomes my hardest-hitting skill.”

Finally, he scrolled to the loot tab and opened the item descriptions.

[Warden’s Bone Sigil]

A carved bone fragment etched with ancient dungeon runes.

+5% Physical Resistance

+10% Skill Activation Speed

Passive Effect: Slightly increases natural mana regeneration.

[Bone Sword]

Forged from the fused remains of cursed dungeon guardians.

ATK: +18

SPD Boost: +2

Effect:

* Increases damage against Undead enemies by 15%

* Skills have a 5% chance to apply "Fracture" (reduces enemy DEF for 5 sec)

Cannot be dropped or traded.

“Looks sturdy enough)

Valen reached for the blade and gripped the hilt.

It was heavier than his last sword but better balanced. The edge glimmered faintly, like something alive still slept inside the bone. He gave it a practice swing. The air split with a whisper.

Perfect.

Then, as if answering the silence, the red crystals above flickered — and the dungeon pulsed.

The doors behind him creaked. Unlocked.

Valen stood, bruised but burning with new power.

“Time to leave.”

But as he turned, something else caught his eye.

The cracked altar where the Warden had first risen was glowing faintly again — not red this time, but blue.

And deep beneath the platform, he swore he saw steps spiralling down into darkness.

New Floor Discovered: Fenward Dungeon – Level 2 (now open)

Valen narrowed his eyes.

“…I need to get home I don’t know how long I’ve been down here”
