Today Iâve opened my eyes. Not to look at my familiar ceiling, but on a chair looking straight at a beautiful woman.
So beautiful that she could only be described as a living myth, something even famous movie stars couldnât even have a speck of her beauty. Sheâs the word herself.
âStop staring like⦠Uhm! Could you stop to look at me like that~ Iâm feeling⦠Shy!â
After my reverie, I can see the woman blushing like a young girl in love. I do my best to calm myself and only look in her eyes.
Inside the eyes I can see multiple colors fighting against each other in harmony, a living rainbow.
âAre you perhaps.. A goddess?â I inquired about a bit of soupcon and enthusiasm.
âYe⦠Yes!! I am a goddess. My name is Aurora! Goddess of life and purity. I create lives and its source. My goal is to make a universe where everyone can be happy! And I need your help! Chosen⦠No hero!â
This declaration made me really on edge. I feel some kind of false reason, but I canât pinpoint where. Itâs like a bad actor doing acting for the first time. But it canât be that, so I let my soupson for later, I need information.
âAnd what can I do? What do you need so much for you to call a completely weak human? And, why me?â
The goddess seems to take a silence to think⦠I suppose? Her expression starts with happiness, to a bit of confusion to a neutral face and still a rictus on her left brow.
âThe world I preside over has been invaded by other gods to produce chaos and disorder, the world is still newborn and its civilisation is still weak to their power. I as the goddess need a representative on the planet to share my vision and expel these chaos gods.â
She took a pause to observe my expression, I was at first sceptical then the more she told the more my face became serious. Resuming again with a triumphal tone.
âBut Iâve found YOU! You are the one who could make it possible! You and my power can give back its peace like before their appearance! You can become anything, have a power that no one can gain or a mystical weapon and also a gift from me, something like in the video games of your world: A status window, an inventory and a talent to become stronger the more you fight! What do you think?â
She made it clear, I am here because she wants it, not because she needs me. But my value can be dispensable, something tells me if she wants it I could completely disappear the next second. For the moment I can only be on her side, she doesnât lie, but everything sounds like a selective truth. I can only find more later.
âOkay!â My voice caught in the middle of the word sounds like hesitation, but Iâm trying to sound enthusiastic.
If you come across this story on Amazon, it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
Still it left me thinking about all my options and desires, one thing wasnât clear.
âWhich race exists in this world?â
âA lot like elf, dwarf, beastkinâ¦. Uhm! Humans are the best, don't take too much attention to other races!â
In the first part she sounded honest and in the second part I sensed a form of superiority. In a world full of humans itâs the best choice, but if itâs fantasy then other races are better individually.
For ten minutes I lost myself in my thoughts. I start to ponder really deeply about what I know, and what I want. In this desire became conviction. It would become the very foundation of my adventure in this world. One thing is drawing in my head, a child's dream but also a will to all of my desires.
âI want to be a cute catgirl and for my power I want to have the power of cloning!â
The very word of surprise would be her face, Iâm sure Iâve struck something she didnât expect.
âWhy⦠Are you sure you want to be âthatâ?! And cloning, like ninja or like an army of clones?â
âFor once, yes I need to be strong, and more in the beginning if the civilization is weak. As for my power, I want to be able to clone myself and be in control of them. One body is not enough against a hostile world and it would help to create the fondation with the people!â
She looks at me with a shocked face, her smile is torn, sheâs trying her best to not to say something.
âI⦠Of course beastmen are a strong physical race and have some excellent agility, but they have a weak foundation in magic⦠I still think something like a human or an elf would be⦠Better! And for your power⦠I need to ask my superior!â
I think Iâve struck into something else: Magic. If what she says is true then of course being an elf would help me for my magic power. But she said it herself, I gain a talent to become stronger with time. Between a lizard who can breathe fire and an agile monkey if the lizard is tired, the monkey could land a fatal hit. Iâm sure of my choice! After my inner monologue, sheâs finally back on track, but sheâs anxious.
âWhy not change your special thing⦠I mean why not get⦠Super strength? Or super speed? Stop the time? Or even a sword that speaks and evolves with you?â
âWhy are you against it? Is it illegal, I've touched the forbidden?â
âNo no! Itâs a power that takes a toll on the mind, itâs really heavy on the mind! like lifting a rock and also doing arithmetic with decimals at the same time!â
âI keep my choice!â
My reply sounded like a death knell to her, I donât know why, but sheâs anxious, like she would lose something precious to her.
âI⦠I canât go against the will of the Chosen contractor⦠By the order of the supreme god of contract, the primal god of the upper realm, I Aurora will honor my part of the contract. And with the presence of the contractor, I will uphold his will and he, who would pledge to execute his part of the contract. Would you pledge in presence of the god of contract that you understand the contract and will do anything to the success of this contract until you meet its term.â
âI⦠I hereby accept, I would be named as Luna Nyx in the new body and would do everything to complete my quest.â
Above us light descending between her and me, it was the last light before my eyes the last thing Iâve heard is:
âContract accepted!â
