This morning when Mateo came in he couldn't stay because he was swarmed with work. The whole castle was extremely busy which I expected since there was an event happening today.
I heard a knock on my door as I was finishing up my meal and Rob strolled in.
"Hey kiddo, I just came in here to tell you that I won't be able to take you outside today, however, King asked me to bring you this." He said, presenting a little flower in a pot.
I smiled at him, knowing I was going out anyways.
"Thanks, and tell King thank you too."
"sooo" He started, leaning against the door, "It looks like you and the prince are getting along, aren't you?"
I shrugged with a little smile which made hims mile widely at me.
"I'm so glad! You two deserve to be happy, I hated seeing you locked up in here all sad and King has been moody ever since we got back, its so annoying!"
I giggled a little as he complained like a girl in middle school, rolling his eyes, hands on his hips but that only made him glare at me more.
"Whatever, laugh at me all you want, you're the one who's staying here with him until one of you dies." He said the walked right out the door.
Well, someone's in a mood.
I knew that no one would be in for the rest of the day other than the person who's supposed to serve me dinner so I got ready for the day and prepared to head out. Just in case I made a fake mannequin of myself and stuck it under the covers to look like I was sleeping, I even had some wind placed inside of it, programmed to move to look like breathing.
It was pretty creepy but I was proud nonetheless. I listened out the window for a while until I heard people approaching. By looking at the time I could tell it was an event that would start early afternoon and end early morning, probably a welcoming of some sort, those parties were always the longest because it took a while for everyone to arrive from whatever lands they were coming from and settle in.
I whistled a little tune out the window and a little dove flew to me. I smiled down at it as it landed in my hands .
"Hey little dove, you are adorable. Can you deliver a message for me?" I asked it gently and it nodded its head. Being a fae of the earth I had a good connection with wild animals, only the best of those fae could complete a trick like this but it was worth a shot.
It looked at me and nodded its little head a little.
"Amazing" I smiled, "I need you to go to the bright white dragon and tell her to come pick me up by my window."
She nodded again before flying off to find the dragon.
I squealed a little to myself for getting this far and prayed that the rest of the plan would work.
Animals couldn't talk to each other but I placed a little of my magic into the dove so it would be able to get the message across, I enabled them to understand each other so if it works the bird will tweet a little at the dragon and the dragon should understand.
I closed my eyes, enjoying the sun and waited. After a few minutes I heard the familiar beating of wings coming my way. I opened my eyes to reveal the gorgeous dragon flying to pick me up.
I flew myself out the window on my wind and right onto her back where I got seated comfortably, giving her a thank you pat before getting to business.
"Okay girl, I need you to fly me up into the sky over the castle. I want to check out who's coming in and what they're wearing so I can prepare for tonight, but try not to let too many people see you or King will get mad again."
She nodded her giant head before climbing up into the sky extremely fast until we were hidden behind clouds so we couldn't be seen since her color blends right in. With my fae vision I managed to make out all the people and even check out their attire.
They were all dressed in gorgeous gowns as expected but I suspected they would be changing into something even more formal and flashy later tonight.
The servers were all dressed in full suits and gloves which showed just how fancy this party would be. After looking around for a few hours and watching the people come in, noting in my head who would be attending the party I made my way back.
I saw creatures of all sorts coming in. There were dragon tamers from outlying villages coming, fae, trolls, vampires, werewolves and lycans at least, probably others too. For all of the kingdoms to join together in on place it would have to be for a gigantic reason. Something really important.
I had almost figured it out, just couldn't quite put the pieces together. There were a lot more vampires visiting than other creatures so I suspect it would have something to do with them...
I leaped back in through my window and started getting ready. I would wait until someone brought me dinner which would probably be earlier than usual then I'll be gone.
In the meantime I took a long but productive shower and styled my hair. My naturally curly hair was half tied up out of my face in an elegant bun on top of my head, the rest flowing behind me, a few strands framing my face.
Once I was finished Mateo rushed in with my meal, practically running back out.
Now for a gown...
I called for a flower to grow, but just the petal. I made it extremely large then draped around my body. It already looked like a super expensive material. I called more and more petals of different types and draped them all around forming a gorgeous red gown. It was light and flown yet very formal. It was playful get sophisticated. I added a slit reaching to my upper thigh to add a little mischief before it was finally ready.
Something like this
It was impossible to tell I made it out of nature, I used extremely rare flowers and plants to create the perfect blend for the dress's material.
I spun around a little in the mirror before deciding that it would work. I put on a little makeup with bright red lips to pop with the dress adding the more sultry aspects. I had to admit, I looked good.
By the time I was finished creating the dress and getting ready the party was in full swing. I could hear the live music and the laughter and chatter of the crowds. I discretely flew myself down on my wind near the hall where the party was held.
I brushed myself off before standing up straight and taking a deep breath. With that I waltzed towards the door where there were a couple of bouncers to catch unwanted guests. I probably wouldn't be on the list but I would have to get in. There was no way I did all this for no reason.
With another deep breath I confidently walked towards the doors, trying to look as confident as possible.
When I made it to the door the security guard looked up from his list and I noticed him looking me up and down, blatantly checking me out.
"Hello there beautiful, what's your name?"
I looked him in the eyes and gave him a little smile before looking him up and down really quickly, pretending to check him out. He puffed out his chest with a little smirk.
"Are you here with someone?" He asked.
I shook my head innocently, "No, sir. I just wanted to see the beautiful ball, its even better than I ever imagined!" I exclaimed, acting innocent while revealing my ears to come across more trustworthy.
"Ahh, you're from the fae kingdom." He smirked again, probably assuming he could take advantage of that.
I stepped forward, running my hand down his arm.
"Can I go in now?" I asked innocently.
He looked at me like he was in a trance, it was weird but strangely familiar.
"Yes, of course, head on in my lady." He said, his eyes a little glazed over as he lifted the red rope.
Hm... what was that? I was sure he was about to kick me out. Oh well, I'll take it.
I squealed a little to myself in my head once I got in, looking around excitedly. It has been way too long since I've been to a proper supernatural party. There were people dancing everywhere to the amazing music, large buffet tables lining the walls. There were people drunk everywhere, laughing and having fun.
It was a weird mix between a club and a ball, probably meeting just in the middle. I smiled to myself before making my way over to one of the many bartenders.
Once I got there he went stiff, his eyes wide as I smiled at him.
"Hello!" I chirped and I swear his eyes managed to get a little wider.
"H-hi, what would you l-like miss?"
I smiled at his nervousness, I could almost hear his heartbeat from here.
"I'm not so sure, what do you suggest?" I asked. It took a second before my question processed for him and he went bright red when he realized he was just standing there, frozen, staring at me.
"Are you okay?" I asked, a little concerned.
"Oh, y-yes, sorry miss, how about a cosmo?"
I nodded my head. I love me a good cosmo.
"Sounds perfect, thank you."
"Of course, my lady!" He said with a triumphant smile, his face cooling down, returning to its natural color.
While waiting for my drink I looked all around, taking everything in. There were quite a few eyes on me, most of them fae who were probably wondering who I was. Not that many of them were invited to this event so they would notice if someone they didn't know got in.
I felt a tap on my shoulder and saw the bartender standing next to me with my drink.
"Thank you so much!" I exclaimed, taking it out of his hands and he blushed a little again.
"Do you mind if I ask what your name is?" He suddenly asked shyly and I looked at him with a huge smile.
"Of course Brandon," I said, reading his tag, "My name is Opal, can I ask you a question?"
"Anytime."
"What is this event for?"
He looked at me puzzled, tilting his head a little like a puppy, "How do you not know?"
I shrugged, sipping my drink, "mm, this is really good."
"Earlier today was the marriage of one of the princes. He married a vampire princess and this is the reception. The prince and the princess have been friends for a long time and since the prince couldn't find his mate he decided to marry her. He knew she would be a strong queen and give a strong heir."
I nodded along. I wonder which on of King's brothers it was. I wish he would've invited me to this himself though...
"How do you know so much about this?" I asked, finishing up my drink a little too quickly.
"I am the prince's personal servant."
I nodded before putting down the empty glass. He looked at me with wide eyes once he saw how quickly I finished it but I just smiled at him mischievously which he was definitely taken aback by.
"Would you like to dance?" I asked.
"D-dance?"
"Or do you have to cover the bar?"
"No my lady, I'm on break."
"Well then, I'd like to dance, will you dance with me?"
He blushed a little. "Yes, of course."
"Good." I replied, grabbing his hand and leading him towards the dance floor.
