22.

the new me

has finally risen above

old, hateful ways

and rebelling against these

that have hurt me

for just too long.

and through this

I am beginning to sow so, so much.

the new me has gained

self-confidence

and can finally

speak.

speak so

authentically

that she's made more real friends

than who she was

only months ago

would ever have

imagined

to let in.

the new me is striving

for self love

and maintaining

self care

a little better than usual.

having finally overcome

countless

body issues,

these beginning efforts

are only

rewarding

in the purest form.

the new me

has learned to deal with

her own irrational anxieties

a little better

and although,

for sure they're still around

invading good days, but

the attacks are gone

and her mind is learning

of ease.

a breath of fresh positivity.

the new me

is allowing herself

freedom;

writing abundantly

with overflowing passion -

nevermind those who care

to find distaste in her words.

this is what makes her

happiest.

the new me

has dropped sad for hopeful music

to accompany her

in her journey

rather than her

survival.

the new me

has learnt of respect

that goes both ways

and become more open-minded

in a way that makes her proud

of herself

for a change.

the new me uses every opportunity

to be thankful of everything

that makes her life how it is

and thankful that she could learn

to see from

perspectives

that counteract

the dystopian universe

that had brooded in her head

for far too long.

a still acknowledging

the toxicity in the world,

but never allowing it

to consume

or define her once more.

she is hers

and that leaves no space

to dwell on the things

that only break her smile.

the new me

is feeling lighter;

breathing air

that is cool, fresh and free

and this adaptation

has been the most important one

she'd ever have to learn.

I have grown anew

and changed

for the better.

I can now stand

on my own side

without shame

and this

revolution

saved me

just

in

time.

this is the new me,

and I'm okay with it.
