Chapter 1037 Can We Please Not Part Ways Harvey was so shy he blushed at the compliment.
Across from him, Elmer looked at him with a face full of admiration.
âLittle one, your chess skills are impressive. Who taught you?â
After glancing at Jean, Harvey answered calmly, âI learned a bit from books before, but Iâm not very proficient. My daddy taught me a lot later on, so I can just about hold my own.â
Upon hearing Harvey mention âDaddy,â all the adults present were taken aback.
Sammy explained with a chuckle, âDaddy has already proposed to Mommy, you know. Weâre going to be a family sooner or later, so we might as well start using the right titles now.â
Elmer understood and turned to Jean. âYouâve done a great job teaching my great-grandson. It seems your chess skills are even better. Care for a match?â
Jean smiled. âYou flatter me, Mr. Park. In truth, Harvey was already quite skilled at chess from the start.
I merely gave him a few pointersâ¦â
âWhat are you chatting about thatâs making you so happy?â
Nadine and Neera walked over and, seeing the situation, questioned with a smile.
Jeremiah ruffled Harveyâs hair. âPraising this little guyâs chess skills. Why did you guys come down? Is Mom asleep?â
âSheâs asleep. Neera was the one who coaxed her to sleep. Thatâs what really works.â
Nadine smiled with pursed lips, then turned to look at Neera.
After pondering for a moment, Neera stated, âGranddad, Uncle Jeremiah, thereâs something Iâd like to discuss with you⦠I wonât be staying in the country for long this time. There are important matters abroad that require my attention, so Iâll need to return. If it werenât for reuniting with you, Iâd probably be in Essley by now. But given Grannyâs current condition, Iâm worried. If Iâm too far away, it might affect her health.
So, I want to discuss a plan with you.â
Upon hearing this, Nadine felt a pang of discomfort. âHow could this be? Neera, donât you want to stay hereâ¦â
Neera saw her reluctance and couldnât help but feel apologetic.
âIâm sorry, but all of my auntâs properties are overseas, and Iâm the heir. I need to manage the companies there. Besides, there are several important patients abroad that Iâve promised to treat. I really canât stay in the country. This time, I returned home just to handle some affairs. I didnât expect to run into you allâ¦â
Upon hearing these words, everyone in the Park family fell silent.
They werenât angry or dissatisfied. In fact, they could all understand Neeraâs situation.
It was just that the family had just reunited with each other, and they already had to part ways. No one wanted that to happen.
And most importantly, Mariah definitely wouldnât be able to handle it.
Mon, å½å®¶96%æ Over the past two years, she had been in low spirits, her illness progressively worsening. Her mental/clarity fluctuated, sometimes lucid, sometimes confused.
Now that she finally had emotional support, who knew what she might become if they were to part ways again?
Deep down, Neera also felt a bit guilty.
From both an emotional and rational perspective, one should fulfill oneâs filial duties.
However, abroad, both Avery and Willard were waiting for her to return and heal them. She had promised them that she would return; she couldnât go back on her word, nor could she just abandon them.
Just as everyone fell silent, unsure of how to handle the situation, Jean suddenly spoke up.
âMr. Elmer, do you think you and Mariah would be comfortable living in Essley? If you think you could adapt, we could all move there together. This way, it would be more convenient to take care of her and get her treatment, and the family wouldnât have to be separated. We could see each other every day.â
Upon hearing that, Jeremiah nodded. âThis does seem feasible.â
Nadine, however, was somewhat apprehensive. âBut changing the environment⦠I wonder if Mom and Dad will be able to adaptâ¦â
At that moment, the three little ones gathered around Elmer, taking the initiative to hold his hand.
âGreat-grandfather, come with us. Essley is really fun.â
âIf youâre worried about noise, itâs no problem at all. Daddy bought Mommy a manor there. Itâs very quiet, and the environment is nice. There wonât be any disturbances, and itâs also very suitable for Great-granny to rest and recuperate. We can also accompany both of you for walks on regular days.â
âAlso, Mommyâs medical skills are excellent. She will definitely keep you all healthy. Our family has finally reunited after so much difficulty. Can we please not separate againâ¦â
Meanwhile, Neera also tried to persuade Elmer.
âGranddad, Iâve just taken over the company, and indeed, Iâm tied up at the moment. But rest assured, I will get a handle on things as soon as possible. In a year or two, once everything is stable, if you want to return here, I can bring the kids, and we can move back with you. Does that sound good?â
Elmer was moved by what he heard. He hesitated for a moment, then agreed.
âAll right. Iâll go with you to Essley.â
Neera was very happy as if a weight had been lifted off her heart.
âOkay, then. Letâs pack up and leave together.â
Standing at one side, Nadine couldnât sit still anymore. She spoke without even thinking.
âIn that case, your uncle and I should go with you. Your grandparents are abroad, and we canât see them. Weâre bound to worry. Itâs better for us to go and take care of them. Youâre busy all the time, and you also have to look after your grandparents. In the long run, it will take a toll on your health. We can lend a hand if weâre there.â
Jeremiah thought the same and immediately chimed in, âYes, letâs go too.â
Edward was somewhat bewildered.
âIf youâre all leaving, what about meâ¦â
With a matter-of-fact tone, Nadine said, âYou have to stay here and manage the family business.
Surely, youâre not thinking of coming along, are you?â
