After dinner, Neera finally had some free time. She strolled around the courtyard with Jean and the children.
Gazing at the bright moon hanging in the sky, Neera let out a long sigh of relief.
âFinally, I have some time to myself. I can finally rest. Meeting all those people for two days has made my head spin. Now, I canât even remember a single face. Itâs all a mess. I didnât realize being the head of the family would be so troublesomeâ¦â
Jean held her hand, gently caressing the back of her hand with his fingertips, showing utmost tenderness.
âYou seem busier than me now. Looks like I wonât need to work in the future. I can just rely on you to support the family.â
Neera felt guilty and apologized, âYouâve come all this way, and I havenât been able to spend time with you these, past few days. Iâm sorry for neglecting you and the kids.â
Jean lightly pinched her cheek.
âWhy apologize? Being able to stay by your side is enough for me. Itâs normal for you to be busy given your high position and responsibilities. You donât need to worry about me.â
Neera let go of his hand. âI overheard everything today. You were whispering with the kids on the stairs.
They must be bored, right? They can only cling to you. Did they interrupt your work?â
âNo. I took care of everything before I came. The rest will be handled by my subordinates, so I donât need to worry. Itâs been such a long time since Iâve seen the kids. Iâd love nothing more than to spend more time with them.â
Neera sighed, thought for a moment, and said, âIâll talk to Shane later. For the next few days, I wonât entertain those people and Iâll leave it to them. Iâll take you guys around instead.â
âIs that okay?â
âNo worries. Iâve already made my presence known, and thatâs all that matters. Iâll leave the rest to Shane. Iâll also ask him if there are any interesting places around that we could visit. We can bring the kids with us.â
Jean gave a faint smile. âAll right.â
At that moment, the triplets suddenly popped out from behind, laughing excitedly without end.
âYay! We can go out and have fun now!â
Neera was startled. âWhen did you guys get behind us? Werenât you walking in front?â
Penny chuckled, pointing behind her. âThere were little bugs over there just now. Harvey and Sammy took me to see them.â
Sammyâs eyes twinkled as he teased Neera, âMommy, you were so busy talking to Daddy, only thinking about Daddy. You were not paying attention to us.â
Neera was so amused that she didnât know whether to laugh or cry, and she playfully poked Sammy on the forehead.
âYou quirky little boy.â
âYou quirky little boy.â
With a playful grin, Sammy took her hand, his eyes filled with anticipation as he asked, âMommy, can we go to the restaurant we visited last time tomorrow? The crabs there are so delicious!â
Penny hopped around excitedly, suggesting, âMommy, is there an amusement park here? I really want to goâ¦â
Neera had no choice but to agree to their requests one by one.
The next day, she kept her promise. After informing Shane, she happily set out with Jean and the three children for a day of fun.
The little ones were having the time of their lives, their excitement through the roof. They played while eating and drinking, not missing out on anything.
They even ran into Caleb at the restaurant.
âMr. Medicina, what a coincidenceâ Neera greeted.
Caleb looked at the man beside her, his eyebrows slightly raised, yet he remained composed. He turned to Neera and smiled gracefully.
âYes, indeed. I just happened to be at the Bartitsu Guild for some business, and I didnât expect to run into you here. Ms. Garcia, I trust youâve been well recently. How is your injury?â
âAppreciate your concern. Iâm already better.â
âI heard youâve been quite famous recently, becoming a person of great renown. Congratulations.â
-âNah, to be honest, I owe it all to you. If you hadnât given me the white flag, I wouldnât have become a district president, and the Gordon family wouldnât be where it is today.â
Caleb was not overly concerned. âIt doesnât matter what the process is. What matters is the result. In the end, you are the one who has taken the seat as a district president. You are also the one who has become the ninth elder of the Bartitsu Guild. The honor belongs to you and the Gordon family.
Everything else is insignificant.â
Neera could tell that he truly didnât care. She thought that saying anything more would only make her seem overly sentimental, so she decided to drop the subject.
âBy the way, Jean, let me introduce you. This is Mr. Medicina I mentioned, who has been of great help to me on Mount Cloud.â
Jean nodded lightly. âHello. Thank you for taking care of my fiancée.â
The corner of Calebâs mouth twitched almost imperceptibly.
Neera did not notice anything amiss. She turned her head and said, âMr. Medicina, where is Darcel?
Didnât he come with you?â
