Chapter 842 Distressed and SelfâBlame Neera was taken to the research center one hour later.
Jean had already called Osbert on the way back and urged him to come over right now. Jean didnât say anything else.
Osbert hurried to the research center as soon as he learned of Neeraâs mishap. When he saw her, he was instantly terrified by her tragedy, âNeera!â
He shouted her name, but he did not get a response.
It was Jeanâs stern voice that was heard instead, saying, âShe fainted; I donât have time to elaborate now; please help her deal with the wound first.â
Osbert nodded, not daring to be late, and dashed into the clinic. Zephyr was also brought here, and he is currently being treated by the clinicâs doctors.
When Peter and his wife got the news, they were taken aback by Neeraâs condition.
âJean, whatâs the matter with Neera? How did it get so bad?â
âWait, what happened? Are you alright?â
The two hurried to Jeanâs side and inquired with concern.
Jean shook his head and said, âIâm fine.â
He took a long look at the clinicâs closed door before gathering his thoughts and speaking briefly.
Neera was attacked,â explained Jean.
Peter and his wife were able to make some educated guesses despite his silence. Itâs not like they hadnât encountered such a thing; after all, they were from the Beauvort family.
At this point, Ged entered the room while carrying a partially built Lego model and walking around in a hospital gown. He gazed up at him as he grabbed Jeanâs sleeve.
âJean, donât worry; Neera will be just fine,â said Ged.
Without saying anything, Jean glanced at him and rubbed his head. Ian, who was familiar with Sir, could sense that he had intense rage.
He was certain that many individuals would suffer as a result of this incident.
After an hour, Osbert came from the clinic. He removed his mask and gloves before inhaling deeply.
âHow is everything? Is Mrs. Beauvort okay? Ian instantly moved forward and asked.
Instead of asking, Jean just fixed his gaze on him.
Osbert softly replied, âNeeraâs life is not in danger, but she has a bullet wound to her right shoulder.
It was not seriously hurt, but it will need some time to heal. Her body has several abrasions, which should have been brought on by a fall. Additionally, the feet are worn out.â
Jean exhaled a sigh of relief when he learned that she was not in danger. But he remained tense and enraged when he realized that she had sustained so many wounds.
Finally, Osbert couldnât help but ask, âWhat the hell is going on? How could Neera have been hurt in this way?â
Sir didnât intend to talk; therefore, Ian had to respond on his behalf after observing that.
âThere was an attack on Mrs. Beauvort,â said Ian.
âAttacked?â As a result of his shock and anxiety, Osbert frantically inquired, âDo you know who did it? and âDid you catch the person who hurt her?â
âThe perpetrator has been captured, but the identity of the person behind it is still unknown.â
âDonât worry, I will find out one by one,â Jean said abruptly, his voice low and cold.
Jeanâs comments naturally brought relief to him. Osbert was furious at the time and said, âIf you find out, you must not let it go! This is the first time Iâve seen Neera in such pain.â
âThatâs for sure. Thank you so much today,â Jean remarked with a nod.
âItâs nothing, Jean; weâre all a family; you donât have to be so polite,â Osbert said, waving his hand. He would do whatever it took to assist Neera if something unfortunate happened.
âNeeraâs body is relatively weak right now, and she could catch a fever later but donât worry, itâs all normal!â Iâll stay here tonight to keep an eye on things, Jean, and you may go in and visit her now,â said Osbert.
Jean entered the ward with a nod. The ward was quiet, and Neera slept palely on her hospital bed.
Jeanâs heart clenched when he saw her in this manner.
He moved slowly, approached her, and took her hand. His distress and sense of blame nearly consumed him.
He berated himself in his heart innumerable times, wondering why he hadnât rushed there earlier and spared her such agony.
