HUNTER “You lied to me! You said you’d stay away from her!” Ash yell in my face.

I ripped myself away from him and paced Zander’s office.

I turn to her with a hand on my hip. “You tell me Rick. Tell me. How does this look?!”

“How can you love a vamp?” Darcy interrupts.

Ricky looks at Zander. “He has a point.”

Zander rubs his head. “Look. You’re right. We can’t tell you who to love, but can you at least submit to a blood test…”

“Just to make sure, ok. If it’s not, then we obviously can’t get into your private life.” He finishes.

Ash sits on the edge of the couch. “Zander, you can’t allow this.”

“Fine. I can’t believe I have to, but I’ll prove to you this isn’t some fucking lust lock. After, leave us the fuck alone. Understand?” I growl.

“Hunt, that’s all we want Ok? Just to make sure you’re alright. I’m sure we will not have any issues with your relationship. Right, Zander?” Ricky eyes the King. Her last words dripped with warning.

Zander looks at her then me. “Yes. Absolutely. We'll deal with anything that happens.”

“Thanks for killing us all.” Ash grumbles and walks out. He slams the door.

I look at it and turn back. “He’s wrong.”

“We'll talk to him.” Zander says.

I nod again. “I have to find Lainey.”

I leave the office and head to the dorms.

I can’t say I’m satisfied, but I said my piece. If they still push, I’ll push back more.

I love Lainey. I’m telling her that and no one will take her away from me. No one will get between us.

When I get to the dorms, she’s in the hall with some of her hive.

I say goodbye to the others and take Lainey home.
