Chapter 40 !
Astridâs POV âDo you like it out here?â I asked Lucinda with a smile on my face as we accompanied her at the garden, but just like usual, she never responded.
Still, Nova and I kept asking her questions hoping that she would say a word to us.
To grant Luna Crystaliaâs request. We agreed to spend time with her daughter to hopefully get her to speak.
Iâm not sure why Luna Crystalia thought that her daughter would open to us. We are strangers to this Pack, and Lucinda is not familiar to us. Iâm not sure why Lucinda would trust us, but I hope that she would.
âThese are her favorite toys, Lady Stella,â the omega informed me as she brought Lucindaâs dolls and huge doll houses to us.
I thought playing with Lucinda would make her comfortable with us. âThank you,â I muttered to the omega with a smile.
After bringing what we have requested, they finally left us alone as we wanted. I believe there would be more chances of Lucinda opening up to us if there are only the three of us.
âOohh! This doll looks just like me,â Nova beamed as she held up a doll with strawberry hair and outfit. âDo you think this doll looks like me, Lucinda?â
Lucinda looked out of herself. It seems she didnât even hear Novaâs words.
âLucinda?â Nova called out her name, but Lucinda kept staring 175 +15 somewhere far.
I traced her ze and found out that sheâs staring at the forest.
I remember how we first found her lost at the forest. Maybe sheâs sick of being around the Packhouse. Maybe she wanted to explore somewhere else.
âWhy donât we go to the forest and play hide and seek?â I suggested.
Lucindaâs gaze suddenly turned to me when she heard my question which is something new from her.
âThat sounds good, we should do that,â Nova agreed when she saw the reaction we gained from Lucinda.
The three of us traversed the snowâcovered forest, looking for a private place where we could play. Lucinda held no expression on her face as she walked with us, but I know that she would be happy.
âWho should play the seeker?â I asked.
Lucinda suddenly tugged my arm and pulled me aside before openly staring at Nova.
Nova and I smiled at each other. Lucinda is communicating with us, although sheâs not yet speaking.
âOkay, Iâll be the seeker,â Nova volunteered knowing what Lucindaâs actions meant.
Nova covered her eyes and pressed her forehead on the tree then she started counting.
I pulled Lucinda by the hand so we could hide together in the forest. âWhere should we hide, Lucinda?â I asked her in a whisper.
Sheâs not saying and doing anything, sheâs just allowing me to take the lead.
I donât know how deep weâve gone in the forest. While we were still trying to find a place to hide, werewolves started to surround us, growling and baring their canines .
I pushed Lucinda behind my back and held her secure by her shoulders. I looked around, counting the werewolves that surrounded us. I need to protect Lucinda with my life.
âGet back where you come from!
with an Alphaâs daughter. You wonât be forgiven if something happened to her,â I threatened them.
Instead of backing down because of my threats, they took a step forward, determined to get a kill.
I maintained eye contact with them, ready to protect Lucindal at all costs. One of them finally lunged at us, thinking that we would be an easy target.
With my combat skills, I am able to deflect the werewolfâs attack by hitting him on his neck, making him fall to the ground choking up.
Seeing that they attacked me first, I knew that I was their target.
âRun, Lucinda, RUN!â I shouted at her in urgency and pushed her away from me. Helping her get out of this is the only way can make sure to protect her.
1 Lucinda fell face to the ground, after I had pushed her too hard. I went back in my fighting stance, ready to fight all my attackers in human form.
I was able to deflect most of their attacks, but the one from behind caught me off guard. I fell on the ground, exposing my weaknesses I raised my arms and closed my eyes when another werewolf lunged to attack me again.
An earâpiercing scream entered my ears when Lucinda was filled with terror.
When I opened my eyes, another wolf jumped and caught the enemy in midair, rescuing me.
I stood up and ran towards Lucinda and hugged her.
âClose your eyes,â I whispered to her ear as I burrowed her head to my neck.
Behind me, heard snarls and growls and flesh being ripped apart. I know Nova is taking them down in the fight.
The one who saved me earlier was her.
âLâLucinda.â Alpha Everest along with his Pack Warriors. arrived at the scene.
His warriors transformed into their wolf form and helped Noval in the attack.
âDonât spare anyone!â Alpha Everest commanded fiercely before he enveloped Lucinda in a hug.
âMy precious angel,â he muttered endearingly as he held his daughter tightly.
âAre you okay?â Alpha Everest asked her as he pulled apart from the hug and checked for injuries.
âDaddy, is she okay?â Lucinda suddenly spoke as she stared at Alpha Everestâs mouth fell open when he heard her daughter speak for the first time. âLâLucinda.â Tears welled his eyes as he looked at his daughter.
