When a person tells you a secret

honor it and never use it against them.

Anthony's POV

I stare at the girl I bumped into and ask my best friend, Michael, "Do you know her?"

Michael glances at her and laughs. "The girl who called you an asshole?"

"She wasn't wrong." My other friend Alessia adds.

I roll my eyes and wait for them to stop laughing.

"Her name is Kathy Miller. She was in one of my classes last year. Super sweet, but she's shy." Alessia explains.

"Really?" I ask.

"Just because she's shy doesn't mean she'll let assholes like you ruin her day," Michael says.

Alessia and Michael start talking about a different subject, so I tune them out. Kathy doesn't seem shy. There's something off about her. She did fake being afraid of me, which is odd. Or maybe you were just being an asshole? I could be just overthinking.

When it's time for class, I decide to skip it. I head to the library and sit at one of the tables in the corner.

Michael:

You said you had Ms. Jones for English class, right?

Ya, why?

She's giving donuts to all her classes

So if you want one, I wouldn't skip

Why do you think I'm skipping?

After lunch, you went straight up the stairs toward the library. Why don't they ever question you going there? There's no reason for you to be there on the first day.

The librarian is my mom's best friend

She lets me get away with pretty much everything :)

It's not like I skip all the time. I always show up for the tests and do my homework. Teachers don't usually care as long as I turn in my work on time.

Lucky

Remember, after school, we have to plan for tonight

Meet near the bleachers?

Sure

I meet up with Michael and say, "We have a shipment coming in tonight."

"What's the plan?" He asks.

"I think we should only bring Niki, Alessia, and Blue. Then, of course, Will will back us up if anything goes wrong." I explain.

"What time is the meetup?" He asks.

"They said around 11 at night," I say.

In the corner of my eye, I see Kathy put her hood up while walking on the sidewalk. "I have to go. We'll all meet at the base and go from there." I say, deciding to follow her.

She's probably walking home. If I know where she lives, I'll probably just egg her house. That's why you're following her? And to see if she's doing anything shady. Her body language doesn't seem to fit her attitude.

What? It's like she wants everyone to think she's quiet and shy. Maybe she doesn't like attention? I still feel like she's suspicious.

I follow her through the forest, ensuring she can't see me. We reach a random building, and I see her walk to the back.

I trail from a distance and see someone buzzes her in. I don't think this is where she lives.

I walk towards the front and see a small entrance. It's almost unnoticeable. I step inside and see it's a bar. On the wall, there's a sign that reads, "Welcome to Mystic Valley."

Isn't this where your friends go to hang out sometimes? I look around and see a fighting ring and people gambling.

Weird combination. Money and alcohol, what could go wrong? A lot. I was being sarcastic.

I take a seat in the back corner and observe my surroundings. A few moments later, a guy announces a fight in a few minutes. People start getting out their money and placing bets.

Why would Kathy go to a place like this? Maybe she's an alcoholic or even a gambler. I look around but can't seem to spot her.

The announcer shouts, "Next up is the undefeated Killer Kat!"

I see a girl wearing a mask get in the ring and then a semi-muscular guy. Judging by the guy's body language, he seems arrogant. He could be stronger, but he has his disadvantages. For example, people like him punch at a slower rate, at least in my opinion.

As I predicted, the girl was whooping his ass. She finishes him off with a punch, and he doesn't move. Damn, she knocked him out with a punch!

I see the masked person head to the back of the building and decide to follow them. Again, why? They're heading to the same spot Kathy went in.

I catch her step into a back room, and she starts to close the door. Before she closes it all the way, I spot the same backpack Kathy had on the floor. It could be just a coincidence.

I decide to exit the building and see if someone will leave from where Kathy entered. This proves Kathy is shady.

I see someone exit the building and see it's Kathy. I slip in behind her and whistle to get her attention. She freezes and slowly turns around.

Her hairstyle is the same as the girl fighting in the ring. And her leggings are the same. So Killer Kat is Kathy? Obviously, keep up!

She looks annoyed and asks, "What are you doing here?"

I smirk and say, "I know your secret."

She tilts her head and innocently asks, "What secret?"

"You're Killer Kat. I mean, a dead giveaway, Kathy." I say.

She mutters something, and I teasingly ask, "What was that?"

I take out my phone and pretend to take a picture. "Oh, so if I showed everyone in this picture, no one would recognize you?" I ask.

"You wouldn't dare." She says in a low voice.

"Oh, but Sunshine, I would," I say, pretending like I'm going to do something on my phone.

"Ok, fine! What do you want from me?" She asks, irritated.

"Oh, nothing... For now." I say, walking away. What are you going to do? I think she'll be very useful in the future. It's always good to have someone who can fight well in a gang.

"Such an annoying asshole." I hear her say.

"I heard that!" I say, rolling my eyes.

"You were supposed to!" She yells back.

I hope you liked this chapter! 🙂
