I was very happy when I got admission. I thought of all the dishes I would cook. I was thinking of even going with one of my favourite cookery books until I got into the system.
Some people said they had the time to cook but I actually started having the time during my third year. Most times, I felt buying already cooked food was better than cooking. It is true sometimes but you can end up coming back from a lecture that got you exhausted and I feel it isn't human for you to cook yourself only if you are against buying food.
This food part is not a joking matter. You need food to study and be active in your life. It doesn't matter if you are a guy or a girl, you just have to know how to cook at least something to keep you in survival track.
Buy the easiest breakfast stuff. This can be cornflakes, biscuits, bread, plantain, noodles or any snack of your choice.
You can even prepare your stew or kindly have your mom or any good Samaritan to prepare stew for you that can last you a week. It should not be too much because you will end up getting tired of eating it and the taste might get you irritated.
I am always excited when a cousin of mine come visiting because before she leaves, she prepares a good pot of stew for us. It feels you have time to attend that party/extra class.
Make sure you understand the type of person you are. Do you like to cook or buy and try to at least prepare things yourself. Create time. It will save you some things. You also have to be careful eating outside because of food poisoning.
I once suffered from food poisoning and it wasn't a good experience. I wouldn't wish that on my enemy. Eat at hygienic places and make sure you wash your hands before and after eating. Wash your hands at random times. It is a life safer too.
We had neighbours who cooked like they were at home. They would cook traditional dishes and even made pap. Cooking according to them is not a problem as far as they have foodstuffs. We always looked forward to their generous delivery.
The downside to this cooking thingy is that the kitchen is sometimes discouraging to cook and the lack of water. You end up feeling tired at the end of the day.
