I grabbed the little boy's hat and started my walk to their house. Caden said he would come but I didn't think it was necessary considering he was dealing with other things.
She opened the door before I got to the porch and brought me into a tight hug. I hugged her back and then knelt down to hug her daughter.
Her mate came out of the living room as we made it in the door. I held the daughter on my hip and she put her cheek on my shoulder. She was adorable.
"Are you having a pup Luna?"
I smiled, "I'm having two pups."
Her eyes widened, "That is so cool! I thought mommy's only had one pup at a time."
"I'm having twins."
"Wow." She said excitedly, "Alpha is going to be a daddy."
"Yes he is."
"And you'll be a mommy."
"Yes I will."
"I want to be a mommy when I'm older."
"Don't worry, you have plenty of time sweetheart."
She smiled and I put her down as a sound at the stairs caught my attention.
I smiled wide as their little boy came running down the stairs.
"Hey Luna!" He said happily.
"Hello! How are you feeling?"
"Better than ever! I was only in my wheelchair for the day after the experiment. I can walk!"
"That's amazing!" I said excitedly. He could go back to playing his sports and living like a little boy does.
His mother was beaming, "They both pulled through."
"You have a strong mate, and stronger boy."
"I know. I'm lucky."
I nodded and looked to the boy, "Close your eyes."
He instantly shut them, "Luna?"
I placed the hat I carried here on his head, "Okay."
He took it off his head and held my leg in an awkward hug briefly, "Thanks Luna!"
"You're welcome. It was in a lounge room."
"I thought I lost it! Yay!"
After catching up over a cup of coffee I made my way back to the pack house.
The funeral arrangements were all made, and the funerals would happen tomorrow. The meeting last night went smoothly and the pack seemed pretty ecstatic overall about successfully getting fated mates in future generations.
Paul, the head councillor, had cried during the meeting when he found out what Caden and I had done with the pack. He had been so overjoyed. He immediately went back to the pack house and during the phone call last night told us that everyone was ecstatic.
They thought it was a lost cause up until now.
Caden and I couldn't be more proud of our pack. They were truly amazing individuals. And our pups would get to grow up with all of them.
Caden kissed my neck as his arms wormed around my waist, he took a deep breath and sighed, "You smell amazing."
I chuckled, "You're not too bad yourself."
"The doctor just told me that you're progressing well my eight-month-pregnant fiancee."
I smiled, he always brings up the wedding, "The appointment this morning went well. He said they were growing faster than normal though. He said they were developing along quicker than normal."
"But they were healthy right?"
"Yes Caden. I would've told you if anything was wrong."
"I know beautiful."
"So what are we doing today? The funerals are tomorrow and the meeting went smoothly."
"Yes it did. I think we have a few hours to ourselves babe."
"What if I invited two others for dinner?"
"I'm up for anything."
"Even cooking?"
He chuckled, "Even cooking."
"So we can cook dinner for Daniel and Sam? Because I miss those two."
"As much as I hate to admit it, I miss them both too."
I smiled and pecked his cheek.
------
I laughed at Daniel's lame joke. We took out a deck of cards and had played two rounds of euchre so far, but I had partnered with Daniel and Caden with Sam since otherwise we could tell each other which suits would work, etc. Sam and I had lost twice before we switched, she didn't really understand the game, it was her first time playing, but Caden was his usual patient self and she was slowly getting the hang of it.
We played one last hand and Daniel stood up with his arms up, "Victory!"
"Yeah because you euchered your mate!" Sam said with a laugh.
"All is fair in love and war."
She raised an eyebrow, "I guess we know where you're sleeping tonight."
"Baby-" Daniel started.
She gave me a hug and headed towards her room.
"She was kidding right?" Daniel asked us both.
"I wouldn't blame her for making you sleep on the couch."
"Cupcake! I did it so we would win!"
I shrugged.
He sighed before leaving, calling out, "Sammy baby! It was a game! I didn't mean it-"
Caden laughed and I hugged him, "I guess we both do it."
"You both do what?" I asked.
"Fall for your mad fronts."
I laughed, "I guess so."
"It's because we care."
"I think it's because Daniel wants to be a lot closer tonight than the couch allows." I said with a chuckle.
"You bet."
I looked at him, "Is that the only reason you do it?"
He looked taken aback by my "mad front" and panic crossed his face, "I want to hold you but-"
"So me being mad doesn't matte-"
"Beautiful, I always want to hold you. And you know I hate seeing you mad. I only do it-"
"I know Caden." I said with a laugh.
"Women." He rolled his eyes, knowing I had only faked this "mad front".
"Damn right." I said with a smirk before taking his hand and leading him up the stairs, "What would you ever do without us?"
"Well there's a few things I could never do without you." He said as he turned me and walked me backwards towards the bed.
"A few?"
"More than a few."
"Really?"
He nuzzled my neck and his lips left sporadic kisses on my neck and jaw before his tongue pulled my earlobe into his mouth, "Definitely."
His voice was low and his eyes were dark, "How about I show you."
"I wouldn't complain."
"Oh, I know." He chuckled against my skin and I pushed his chest lightly.
"Cocky are we today?"
He laughed and looked me straight in the eye, "Damn straight."
Before I could say anything his teeth pierced my skin and I moaned in pleasure. The things this man does to me.
His hands ran up my sides before slipping my shirt off over my head, "So beautiful. And mine. So very, very mine." He growled before sealing the mark for the upteenth time.
I was still reeling in pleasure but he didn't give me a chance to calm before his lips met mine.
------
The funerals had been three in a row, the pack staying for all three, and the council members all showed up. Paul had said a thank you to the grieving families and then to the pack as a whole for undergoing the experiment so voluntarily.
He thanked Caden and I and left with the two doctors. He wanted them to teach more doctors across North America and eventually overseas in Europe and further so that fated mates would be the norm again.
I couldn't believe my dream was happening.
A massive pain went up my side and I doubled over.
Bee!?!?
I'm okay Caden, I'm fine.
Where are you?
Our bedroom. I forced myself to breathe and tried to calm down.
Not even five minutes, and another huge wave of pain, later he was carrying me somewhere.
I held onto his waist as he carried me bridal style down the stairs with amazing speed and carefulness.
I squeezed his waist and held my face tight to his chest as another wave of pain happened. I rubbed my tummy as the pups moved.
Before I knew it I was laying on a table in the doctor's office.
"What is happening? What is wrong? Why is she in pain-" Caden all but yelled at the doctor.
"Caden-" I grabbed his arm to calm him but instead squeezed it tightly as I held my breath through another wave.
"She's going into labour." The doctor said calmly before sitting me up and rubbing my back. "The pups are progressing well, they should be healthy and stable. They're strong Alpha, Luna. Don't worry."
I nodded but Caden was freaking out.
"We're going to be parents."
I nodded, "Yes Caden, that's how this works."
"Holy shit!" He was ecstatic for a moment as it all really clicked, then he looked over at me, "I love you so much beautiful. And the pups. You're going to be the best mother anyone has ever had."
"No-" I was cut off as I tried not to let Caden know how much pain I felt.
"Don't block me beautiful. We're in this together. Please baby, you're not alone."
"The contractions are getting closer together-" I didn't catch the rest of what the doctor said before he laid me down back on the bed and Caden kissed my forehead.
"I love you. I'm right here."
