Ace âHow are the rogues getting in?â I asked everyone.
âI donât know alpha.â Mike mumbled as he looked at his twin brother.
âWe have been changing the patrol routes and the members every day.â Wes said as he looked over his papers.
âAlpha?â Elder Edward asked.
âYes?â I asked back.
âDo you think have anything to do with it?â
I growled. âI donât know. My trackers havenât caught their scent since that day. They could possibly be apart of this. But there is no way to know for sure.â
âWhat if they are sending them our way to make us weaker?â Elder John suggested.
âWhat are you getting at?â Elder May asked kindly.
âIf you think about it, itâs possible.â Elder John said. âThey could be sending these rogues over to us promising them protection. This is a big group that we are dealing with. They are capable of anything.â
Elder Edward nodded. âThey could be trying to weaken our defense. Cause a distraction. And once we are knocked off our feet, they came in for the final blow.â
âYouâre on to something.â I smiled. âThat is an excellent point. I mean if you think of about it. This group is smart and cunning. They have everything planned out and they donât mess up. They think everything thoroughly and then attack. We canât underestimate them.â
âWhat do we plan on doing?â Zylen asked.
I looked out over my pack and some gave me worried looks and others had furry.
âWe will train harder. We will be more on guard. We will not let this group break us. We are stronger than that and I refuse to be overpowered.â I said as everyone clapped. âWe overcome this and we win!â
âMore wolves on patrol.â Colby stated.
Zylen nodded. âI want each patrol group to have at least one tracker to sniff out any hints or evidence.â
âAlso. I want all the ambush teams in their positions.â I said as I looked at the girls.
âYou got it alpha.â April, the leader of the ambush groups, smirked. âWe will get these jackasses.â
I smiled proudly. âIâm very impressed with everyone today. Good job.â
âI can feel their wolves. They are proud.â Ava said happily.
âThey should be.â I replied. âThey are all good pack members and I should be the one that is proud. I couldnât have done this without them.â
âI think itâs time to turn in. Itâs late.â I said speaking up and getting everyoneâs attention. âI want the groups at their posts tonight and take turns. We will start training early in the morning.â
Everyone nodded and bowed before leaving the pack hall.
âYou think this will work?â Colby asked as she and Zylen walked over to me.
I nodded. âIt has too. We really canât do anything else.â
âDo you really think they are behind this?â Zylen asked.
I sighed as I looked out the window. âI donât know. They might be, but they also might not be. No one can tell until we have evidence.â
âI think they are.â Colby said speaking up. âThey are a smart group.â
I nodded. âThey are.â
There was a long pause until Zylen spoke.
âHow are you holding up?â Zylen asked as she looked at me carefully.
âI donât want to talk about it.â I mumbled as I turned around.
âWell tough titties.â Zylen growled as she grabbed my arm and turned me around.
âLet me go.â I growled.
She let go slowly but still stared at me.
âYou canât keep shutting us out and bottling that up inside. Itâs not good for you.â Zylen said.
âWhat do you want me to say?â I growled as I through my hands up in the air. âYes! Okay. I fucking miss him. I regret rejecting him. But I canât take it back. Once you reject someone, the bond is gone! It sounded like a good idea at the time, but now I think it wasnât. I miss him so fucking much, but I shouldnât. I should hate him for what he was trying to do. But I physically canât.â
âSee.â Zylen said with a sad smile. âYou need to talk about it. I regret it too, but it was the right thing to do. Maybe it wasnât, who fucking knows. I think we should all move on from this.â
I shrugged. âI donât know right now. Iâm going to bed.â
I didnât wait for them to answer and I ran out of the hall to the pack house.
Maybe sheâs right. But maybe sheâs wrong.
I growled as I slammed my bedroom door shut and stomped to the bathroom.
After my shower, I changed into a long shirt and climbed into bed.
I clutched my pillow as I felt a tear drop.
Itâs times like these that I wish my parents were still alive. They always knew what to do. Even if my dad didnât, he always asked my mom and she had the right answer.
A small whimper came out and I was brought back to the time that they were still alive.
All the family picnics, the movie nights, them playing tag with me. I missed those.
And that is how I fell asleep. Crying and missing my parents.
I gasped as I shot up in my bed sweating.
I looked outside and saw the sun shining bright.
I have a bad feeling about this.
