IN NEED OF SERIOUS EDITING, BUT I WANTED TO POST AN UPDATE FOR YOU GUYS. MUAH!
ENJOY
---
I was so bored.
Jet, Stacey, and I groaned simultaneously, causing Stacey to giggle.
Beau was out with Darren doing fun things. I knew they went paintballing, go carting, and skiing. When I asked if I could go, Darren looked guilty. He was trying to find excuses as to why I couldnât tag along. Beau bluntly told me this was a âmanâ day and they didnât want any females to interrupt them.
Apparently, they thought females were always burdens to what men considered fun. I simply stuck my tongue out at them and said they were jerks. Kelly did the same, glaring at Darren.
Elliot, Abigail, Jade, and Jarred went on a double date run. They asked if we wanted to go, but we turned their offer down nicely. We didnât want to feel left out.
It also made us envy their perfect relationship.
After all, my mate had a human girl friend. Staceyâs mate was in a mental institute. Jet didnât find his mate yet. We were completely lucky when it came to the romance department.
Note the sarcasm.
Weston was doing some Alpha duties upstairs, so that left the three of us moaning about how bored we were. We seriously had no life.
âHowâs Warren?â Jet asked after thinking about a topic to discuss.
âFine,â Stacey answered, throwing her platinum blonde hair out of her face. Her sapphire eyes showed concern over her mate. âHeâs doing so much better.â
âThatâs great,â Jet said sincerely. âI havenât visited in such a long time. Iâll go soon.â
âDanny visited,â Stacey said with enthusiasm. âShe went with Weston!â
âYou went with Weston?â Jet asked with one eyebrow quirking up. âHowâd you get him to go? And what happened to the war of the exes?â
Stacey punched him, casting him a warning look. I waved it off and just sighed.
âI practically dragged him there. Weâre fine. We called a truce,â I said. âI think heâs going to visit Warren again soon.â
âThank you, Danny,â Stacey gleamed. âWarren has been beating himself up over what he did to you and Weston. As far as I know, he will never forgive himself for the rest of his life. When you visited, it was a huge weight off his shoulders.â
âIt was for the best,â I smiled, playing with Jetâs rusted color hair. âSo I canât help my curiosity, how are the two of you?â
âWe havenât mated yet,â Stacey said. âHeâs in a mental institute. Itâs kind of weird to get it on in â â
âOkay, we get it,â Jet said, covering his ears with his hands. âNasty. I have more than enough with Eli and Abigail.â
âAnyways,â Stacey said, glaring at Jet. âWeâre just dating. Thatâs all.â
âIâm lucky I havenât found my mate,â Jet sighed.
âWhat? You donât want to find true love?â I asked. Jet always seemed like the person who constantly looked for true love. I guess I thought wrong.
âItâs so complicated,â Jet groaned, looking at me like it was the most obvious thing in the world. âFemme wolves are such bitches.â
Stacey smacked his head. âYou better watch it, Cavanaugh,â Stacey defended the female population.
âSee,â Jet yelled, motioning a hand towards Staceyâs angry face. âBitch.â
âYouâre really mean,â I told him. âMaybe thatâs because youâre already nineteen and your heart is becoming colder every day you donât have a mate.â
âThatâs not true,â Jet replied bitterly. He was lying. He was longing for a mate. He just didnât want to let us know because he was ashamed of his vulnerability.
âSo, youâre saying that if you found a mate, you would reject her?â Stacey asked.
âNo,â Jet answered quickly. âI would not let her go through that.â
âAh, so you have thought of finding your mate. You already know youâd welcome her with open arms,â I teased, ruffling his hair.
He rolled his chocolate eyes. âIâm just a gentleman, thatâs all.â
âI didnât know gentlemen called females bitches,â Stacey replied sarcastically.
âIâm one in a million, sweetheart. By the way, Danny, what exactly is going on with you and Weston?â
âNothing. Weâre friends,â I shrugged.
âJust friends? How is that going for you?â Stacey asked with curious eyes.
âOkay, I guess. Itâs going to be hard, but at least we were civil. Making him my enemy is too much drama.â
âI hate to bring it up, but Weston is obviously hiding some things from you,â Jet said. Stacey gulped, averting her eyes. Weston had many secrets so I wasnât completely surprised.
My eyebrows rose and I simply asked, âWhy do you think that?â
âWell, every time he thinks he ends the link with us, he starts muttering things about you,â Jet stated. âRight, Stace?â
Stacey nodded. My eyebrows knitted in confusion with my lips slightly parted. I didnât know how to respond to that. What was he muttering?
âWhat does he say?â I asked, contemplating whether I should hear this information or leave it as it is.
âHe grumbles to himself about how much heâs an idiot. That oneâs right. He put you through a lot of crap,â Jet said. âHeâd say things about how he missed you and the other day, he was going on and on about how good it felt to have you in his arms.â
âUm,â I said awkwardly, feeling the blood rush up to my cheeks. âHe wasnât aware that you guys were listening?â
âSometimes you forget that you havenât put up the link block if something is bothering you,â Stacey said, looking at me cautiously. âHe talks about you a lot. Heâd cuss every time he realized we were listening, but none of us had the courage to ask him what was going on.â
âWhy would he talk about me?â I asked. I felt the riot of butterflies in my stomach. My heart was pounding against my rib cage.
âYouâre his mate,â Stacey shrugged. âI guess.â
âHe has a girl friend,â I pointed out. âAs much as I hate to say this, but I think if he wanted to be with me, he wouldnât be with Hayley right now.â
âHe loves her,â Jet said bluntly. Stacey smacked him across the chest. Unfortunately, that news was clear a long time ago. However, it still dimmed my mood and made me more depressed. âBut, I think there is more to the story than Weston is letting on.â
âWhat do you mean?â
âI have no clue either, but I feel like heâs hiding stuff,â Jet said.
âHeâs definitely hiding a lot,â Stacey agreed, nodding her head. âHeâs been different lately.â
âWhat do you mean by different?â
âHeâs been acting weird. Heâs been more moody and snappy,â Jet answered for Stacey.
âWhy?â
âWouldnât we all want to know?â
I sat there, trying to make sense of the information. There were many questions swimming in my head, but I had a feeling that Stacey and Jet didnât have the answers to these. They were as clueless and curious as I was.
âI think he still lo â â Stacey began, but was cut off by the front door banging open.
It was so loud, causing the three of us to jump a foot in the air. We looked at each other in confusion. Our eyes widened when we heard screams of agony, shouting, and the rushing of feet across the tiled floors.
âSomething happened,â Stacey said worriedly, getting up to her feet. âJade just linked me.â
âWhat?â I asked, gripping her arm. She just stared at the entrance of the living room with frightened eyes. Her face paled and her lips were muttering words that I could not decipher.
Jetâs face was similar to Staceyâs own. He got up to his feet as fast as he could. He was about to jump over the couch, when the commotion entered the room.
My eyes widened and the sight in front of me made me dizzy. A loud gasp escaped my lips unintentionally. My hands started to tremble and my body went cold.
Eli rushed into the room shirtless, muttering something to Abigail. Abigail was in his arms, her small body covered in Eliâs light blue t-shirt. She convulsed in his arms, screaming in agony. Eli shook, crying as he shouted orders at Jet. Jade tried to whisper comforting words to Jarred whose face was flushed. Tears were streaming out of his eyes. After he punched the wall hard, he tangled his hands in his blonde hair.
Then my eyes flew to Abigailâs stomach where dark red blood was soaking the cloth of Eliâs t-shirt.
âS-she was s-stabbed,â Eli cried, pushing Abigailâs hair out of her pale face. âSheâs dying from the w-wolfs bane.â
âPlease help her, Danny,â Jarred sounded broken, looking at me with bloodshot eyes. âPlease heal her.â
