Chapter 242
My eyelasher futtered lightly as I took a silent deep breath. âItâs different.â
Deciding to divorce doesnât mean tiranted something bad to happen to him.
Ryen sat on the bed, reaching out his long arm to pull me closer, looking up at me.â How is & differen?â
His intense gaze left me flustered. âItâs different in every way. If anyone got injured today, I would show concern.â
âAnyone?â He casually repeated the question, his tone turning cold and harsh. âIf it were Jack in trouble today, would you rush over just as quickly?â
âYes âI didnât hesitate to respond, as if to prove something, I added, âMaybe even faster
Jack was a very dear friend to me
When a good friend was hurt, no one would remain indifferent.
The softness in Ryanâs eyes suddenly vanished, replaced by a piercing gaze. âWould you also shamelessly stare at his upper body like you did just now?â
It dawned on me then. He had just finished changing bandages and hadnât put on his shirt yet. Apart from the gauze on his chest, there was nothing covering him.
Broad shoulders, narrow waist, muscles clearly defined. They were all exposed.
Earlier, my mind had been on his injuries, and I hadnât noticed.
I felt a flush creeping up my face but retorted defiantly, âYes, is there a problem?â
âYes, there is.â He stubbornly pulled me closer and said unreasonably, âI wonât allow you to look at other men like that, especially Jack.â
âWhy not?*
âBecause I am still your husband.â Ryan said each word distinctly, seeing my displeased expression soften, he softened his tone just right. âHelp me put on my shirt, okay?â
I didnât refuse. I picked up the shirt from the hospital bed and said softly, âListen to the doctorâs advice and take care of yourself
He caught the implication in my words, disappointment flickering in his eyes Are you leaving now
Knowing he meant in eâthreatening danger was enough.
A glance was ressig
There was no need to linger together, adding unnecessary complications
I bent down, temporarily removed the gauze hanging around his neck, and felt a sight stiffness at his unusual body temperature
He hade fever
But with doctors and nurses around, it wasnât my concen
As if I hadnât noticed, I carefully helped him put on his shirt buttoning it up slowly then straightened up. âAlright, Iâll go now.
He lowered his head slightly, like a child throwing a tantrum, jaw clenched tight in silence.
Exiting the ward, Gary, who was waiting outside, looked surprised. âAre you leaving?â
âYeah.â I nodded.
Gary glanced into the room and closed the door, tactfully saying, âMr⦠Mr. Frost is seriously injured. He was in operation for over two hours. Iâm just a guy, clumsy and afraid I canât take care of himâ¦â
I understood his meaning.
But I pretended not to, restraining myself. âWell, let the nurses take care of him. The nurses in the VIP ward are very attentive.â
Gary remarked, âNo nurse can be as caring as his own wifeâ¦*
âGary, you know better than anyone that we are getting divorced. Iâm not suitable for these matters anymore,â I spoke helplessly.
Gary blurted out, âBut who would get involved in such a troublesome matter for an ex wife?â
