Chapter 271
When she saw him arrive, Bethany immediately restrained her previously sharp and unpleasant expression, though she still seemed agitated, muttering, âYou always help outsiders!â
Mrs. Shaw also softened her stance compared to before and asked, âWhy?â
âI told my grandmother I would send her a few sets of customâmade clothes.â Frank smiled. âThis weekend, Iâm taking Charlotte back to listen to what my grandmother wants. If you bully her and she refuses to talk to me, how am I supposed to explain things to my grandmother?â
Upon hearing those words, Bethanyâs expression turned fierce. âYouâre taking her to meet Madam Smith?â
âDoes it concern you?â Frank was terse and didnât bother to say more.
Bethany snorted coldly. âMadam Smith always values rules and reputation. How could she allow a bitch like herâ¦â
âBethany, if my grandmother can tolerate someone like you, Ms. Wilson should definitely be liked by her.â
Even in front of Mrs. Shaw, Frank didnât spare Bethany any face.
Mrs. Shaw, suppressing her anger, compromised, âSince this is for your sake, weâll let
it
go for now and not hold it against her.â
âGoodbye.â Frankâs tone was light as he escorted them out.
His complete disregard for anyoneâs feelings was infuriating, yet I didnât dare to
argue.
Once the mother and daughter had left, I turned to him to thank him. âThank you. What brings you here?â
âYou now owe me three meals.â
Frank casually pulled out a chair and slumped into it. âI just said Iâd come to look after your business.â
I was skeptical. âAre you really that kindâhearted?â
He never did anything without personal gain

He clicked his tongue and gave me a sidelong glance. âIt seems youâre starting to understand me. Youâre right. Iâm here to discuss a business deal with you.â
âWhat kind of business deal?â
âYouâll make a few sets of clothes for my grandmother and also agree to one of my requests.â
I frowned. âIâll be making clothes and agreeing to your request⦠You call this a business deal?â
It seemed like I was the only one at a disadvantage.
There was no mutual benefit.
Frank lounged back in his chair with his long legs spread out comfortably, âMrs. Frost, oh no, I mean, former Mrs. Frostâ¦â
Tinterrupted, âI have a nameâCharlotte.â
For some reason, he always addressed me as âMrs. Frost,â which carried a hint of mockery from his lips.
âOh, Ms. Wilson.â He corrected himself nonchalantly. âIâll cover the cost of the custom -made clothes, but those ladies of the upper class in Jeswood, who have nothing better to do, like to play have afternoon tea with my grandmotherâ¦â
âI understand!â
I got the point.
Customâmade clothes were aimed at the upper and middle classes, and the Smith family was at the top family in Jeswoodâeveryone wanted to attach themselves to
that status.
If Madam Smith wore clothes designed by me, it would open up the market for me, right?
However, I looked at him warily. âWhat is the request you want me to agree to?â
Having been burned before at the last party, I had learned my lesson.
His actions were often unpredictable, and I couldnât trust him without knowing in advance.
âI havenât decided yet.â

He shrugged and looked at me with interest. âDo you think thereâs something you have now thatâs worth me going through all this trouble to deceive you?â
His question left me speechless. After a moment of thought, I agreed, âAlright, Iâll agree.â
Though Frank was elusive, he hadnât done anything truly harmful to me. For the sake of the Jeswood market, it was worth taking a gamble.
Once everything was settled, he showed no intention of leaving.
I couldnât help but ask, âArenât you leaving?â
Frank was fiddling with his phone and didnât look up. âIâm waiting for you to finish work.â
