Chapter 276

Most people knock on doors with a pattern of either two short knocks and one long or two long and one short.
But this person outside was different. Knock knock, knock knock, knock knock, knock, knock knock, knock
Knock knock, knock knock, knock, knock, knock knock, knock knock, knock, knock-
Knock, knockâknock! Knock, knockâknock!
The knocking rhythm even reminded me of a familiar childhood tune.
But that didnât help with my morning grumpiness.
I shuffled out of the bedroom in my slippers, grumpily opened the door, and saw Frank standing there in a loose hoodie, his hair somewhat disheveled.
Seeing me still in my pajamas, he smirked. âCharlotte, do you remember that you need to go today?â
to Jeswood
âOf course I remember. I sent you a WhatsApp message last night asking about the departure time, but you didnât reply.â
Since I still needed his help with the Jeswood market, my morning grumpiness showed, though it was somewhat considerate.
âI was just trying to let you sleep in a bit longer, but why are you up so early today?â He leaned lazily against my door frame, his eyelids heavy.
âI havenât slept yet.â
âWell, you should go home and get some restâ¦â
I needed to catch up on sleep too. I hadnât had a good nightâs sleep in days due to work.
Frank looked at me. âAre you telling me to sleep, or do you need to sleep yourself?â
He glanced at his watch and said nonchalantly, âIn 20 minutes, if youâre not standing in front of me with your suitcase, Iâll take it as youâre rejecting this business deal.â
Bang!
I snapped awake, slammed the door shut, and rushed back to the bedroom to pack my suitcase as quickly as possible.
I washed my face, brushed my teeth, and grabbed two pieces of bread and some yogurt from the fridge for breakfast on the go.
When I opened the door again, Frank was already gone, I checked my phone and saw a message heâd sent ten minutes earlier.
âDownstairsâ
In his style, no unnecessary words or punctuation.

Chapter 276
I went downstairs and found that he wasnât driving his usual sports car but a Maybach.
The driver, waiting by the car, politely asked, âAre you Ms. Wilson?â
âYes, I am.â
âMr. Smith is already in the car.â
He took my suitcase and opened the rear door for me.
Once inside, Frank was already on the other side, wearing an eye mask and sleeping soundly.
Jelaston and Jeswood are close enough that the drive on the motorway takes less than two hours.
Seeing him sleep so peacefully, I finished my breakfast, couldnât stay awake, and adjusted to a comfortable position, leaning against the headrest to sleep as well.
âLilyâ¦â
I wasnât sleeping deeply, but I faintly heard a low mumble beside me.
Almost instinctively, I responded with a soft âHmmâ¦â
The response startled me awake.
When I opened my eyes, I met a pair of dark, probing eyes!
I jumped, lightly patting my chest to calm my breathing. âWhy are you looking at me like that?â
Unlike his usual casual demeanor, Frankâs face held a cold and menacing expression, âDid you just respond?â
âNo, I didnât.â
His demeanor scared me a bit, so I instinctively denied it.
At the same time, the car slowly entered a manor, passed through a sea of flowers, and stopped in front of a Friastanâstyle castle villa.
Apparently, arrangements had been made. A middleâaged man dressed as a butler was waiting at the entrance. As the car came to a stop, he approached to help us out.
âSir, Madam Shaw heard you were coming back today and came early to wait for you.â
Frank seemed quite familiar with Madam Shaw. His eyes lifted slightly, âMadam Shaw is here?â
