Chapter 63
âItâs okay, I wonât make fun of you.â I patted his shoulder and changed the subject with a smile. âSo you like Eason as well, but you never mentioned it before.â
Jack looked towards the stage, his voice tinged with melancholy. âItâs natural to love something because
of association.â
âShe liked him?â
âYeah, she was really into him back in university.â
âWhat a coincidence.â
I smiled. âI used to love listening to Easonâs songs back in university too.â
He smiled knowingly. âQuite a coincidence.â
We were in VIP seats, with a perfect view of the performance, and no blind spots anywhere.
With the familiar intro, the singer appeared on stage, instantly lifting the atmosphere in the entire arena, and causing countless fans to scream and sing along, Jack and I were like two outliers, quietly listening. Scenes from the past years flashed through my mind like a movie playing, frame after frame.
Ten years ago
I didnât know you
You didnât belong to me
We were still the same
Keeping company with a stranger
Walking through gradually familiar streets
Ten years later
We
are friends
Still able to greet each other
Just that tenderness
No longer finding reasons to embrace
Lovers eventually become friends.
Upon hearing the last line of lyrics, tears suddenly streamed down my face. I cried silently for a long time. When I tried to find some tissues to wipe my tears, a pack of tissues was handed to me.
Jackâs eyes held restrained emotions. âAfter crying, will you still turn back?â
I donât think so.â
I wiped the tears from my face, watching him hold back, I couldnât help but say, âIf you feel like crying, just cry. Maybe like me, after crying, youâll be able to move on from this hurdle. I wonât tell anyone.â

He teased me with a light smile, âWho told you I want to move on?â
âThen what do you plan to do?â
I realized, unexpectedly looking at him, âYou still want to pursue that girl?â
He nodded. âYeah.â
âNo wonder Jane always praised you as a good man. You are indeed very faithful. Well, go and pursue her quickly, weâre all waiting to attend your wedding
âFrom university until now. Thatâs almost like my feelings for Ryan. Except he still has a chance to develop a relationship with that girl. Once Ryan and I get a divorce, we wonât probably even be friends. Eight years of liking someone, but still ending up as strange. Quite ironic,â I thought.
Jackâs lips curved slightly, his amber eyes sparkling like stars in the night sky. âI canât pursue her right now.
âWhy?â
âShe hasnât divorced yet.â
âOh.â I nodded subconsciously, then suddenly reacted, unable to believe what I just heard. âWhat?â
I stared at Jack from head to toe, unable to see at all that he was still the kind who sought excitement.
But on second thought, I felt even more that he was deeply in love.
He must be the kind of man that only existed in novels.
The girl he was in love with was married, yet he restrained himself and waited silently.
Although secretly hoping for someone elseâs divorce⦠wasnât really appropriate.
But I had to admit that Jack was a good man.
I smirked. âWell, does that girl know you have these thoughts?â
âShe doesnât.â Jack wasnât ashamed and said calmly, âSheâs timid. If she knew, sheâd be scared away.â âSo⦠if she doesnât get divorced, will you wait for her forever?â
I couldnât ignore this gossip at all.
I usually donât get involved in ordinary gossip, but Jackâs personal style sharply contrasted with this story, which caused me to be quite interested.
âIâll wait.â
He didnât avoid my question at all and gave a definite answer. Then his eyes softened. âBut I wonât have to wait long.â
