Joseph had never thought about finding a life partner before he met Hayden.
He always thought raising a dog was much more reliable than getting married. He didnât feel lonely, because he enjoyed being alone. He once thought Noah Beckham had screwed up his life, but he never thought he would meet Hayden again someday.
His appearance was different from Noahâs. Joseph resisted Noah initially, but for Hayden, he was up for it.
The sound of the door closing echoed in the quiet room. The sound was low and didnât affect the mood in the room.
Magnus James had been waiting in the doorway for a while, âMr. Beckham.â
âMmm.â Joseph nodded in response and instructed, âThere were a lot of rumors in the hotel over the last couple of days. Take care of that, I donât want to hear any more of those rumors.â
When it came to this matter, he felt impatient about it. Everyone at the hotel thought Hayden had a husband, but she never explained anything about it. Now it was his turn to clear it all up.
âIâll take care of it tomorrow morning.â Magnus promised, âBy the way, regarding the Caesar thing you asked me about earlier, itâs taking shape. Caesarâs neighbor said there was a teenager who went to Caesarâs house before the fire.â
Joseph stopped his pacing, frowning, âA teenager?â
âAccording to witnesses, the teenager was in his early twenties, attractive looking, and appears to be a college student. He was traveling to GX City and previously lived at Cesarâs house. He returned after half a month, that was the night Cesar had the accident. This is the photo.â
Magnus took a picture out of the paper bag and handed it to Joseph.
âItâs a photomontage made on the spot according to the descriptions given by the neighbors. The teenagerâs appearance wonât differ much.â
Joseph pinched the edge of the photo, the teenager in it had a familiar air.
As he thought, the sound of footsteps came from far away. A long shadow formed under the hallway light and a teenagerâs deep voice rang out, âAre you guys here too?â
Joseph lifted his head as he stuffed the photo back into the paper bag.
He frowned as he saw Benjamin, âWhy are you here?â.
Benjamin was wearing a casual white suit, he looked energetic. âIâm here because of Miss Downey. I remembered some places in the last two days, and it might be related to my memories, Iâm planning to follow up with her.â
âSheâs asleep, sheâs swamped with work these past two days. Iâm afraid she wonât have time.â Joseph looked at Benjamin, alarmed. He said quietly after a pause, âYou can go to my assistant if you remember anything.â
É¢ðªðµð·ð¸ð¿ð®ðµð¼.cð¸m hosts the latest Benjamin folded his arms, looking weakly at Joseph, âThis is something between Hayden and me. So I wonât bother them about it.â
Josephâs expression changed as he looked at Benjamin coldly.
Not many people had dared to talk to him like that. It wasnât the first time Joseph felt that Benjamin had a great animosity towards him.
âThe ST Group has taken responsibility for you getting beaten up. Since you were released from the hospital, this is no longer a matter between you and Hayden.â Joseph stared at Benjamin with an oppressive look as he emphasized, âItâs between you and me.â
Benjamin curved his lips in disdain and said indifferently, âThatâs not necessarily true.â
The situation immediately became uncomfortable.
A phone suddenly rang, and Magnus hurriedly answered it. The call had broken the mood in the hallway.
âMr. Beckham, the receptionist said that Miss Kidman is here for you. She has something to talk to you about.â
Joseph nodded, âLetâs go.â
Benjamin watched them go, scowling with contempt.
In the office, the secretary poured the tea and gave Violet Kidman a couple of glances before leaving.
The whole hotel knew that Hayden and Joseph were together. But Violet was the one rumored to be Josephâs fiancée. Now it looked like their engagement was going to be called off. But why was she here? It seemed like a good show.
âMagnus tells me youâve been in touch with a German doctor who is an expert in child psychology, right?â Getting straight to the point, Joseph asked.
Violet was pleased, âYes, Iâve been to Germany and met a professor. Heâs been doing research on child psychology, and heâs immersed himself in aspects of children with autism or loss of language skills due to childhood trauma. And I thought of Noah instantly.â
âYouâre very thoughtful.â Joseph frowned, thoughtful.
âItâs a pleasure. After all, Iâve watched Noah grow up. If he can talk like a normal child, I couldnât be happier. When is a good time for you? Iâll contact the doctor and weâll take Noah to meet him.â
Joseph nodded. âAfter weâve finished this, when the foreign guests have left.â
The issue of Noah refusing to talk had always been a dilemma for Joseph. They had consulted numerous doctors in the past, and there was no progress. All he had heard was Noah saying âmamaâ twice. This made him feel guilty for not giving Noah a healthy family. And that could also be the crux of his autism.
Violet lowered her head as she sipped her tea, hiding her joy.
As long as she had a chance to have more contact with Joseph, she would have a way to change his mind.
âThen Iâll ask the doctor about his time off in the next two days.â Violetâs voice was soft. She smiled suddenly as if something came to her mind, âSpeaking of this doctor, I met him in a bridal store. It was when I went to Germany for a movie shoot, and I went to the store to take the wedding dress I had ordered.â
Joseph lowered his head, looking at the papers, he had no intention of answering her.
Violet clenched her fist and asked, âJoseph, I know you wonât admire any actor like me, but weâve known each other for many years and you know how I feel about you. That time you told me that our engagement was suddenly cancelled, without even giving me a reason.â
Violet was attending an awards show that day when she received a call from Josephâs assistant. Joseph let his assistant call her for such an essential matter as canceling their engagement. There was nothing she could negotiate with him.
In the call, the assistant told her, âAs compensation, Mr. Beckham has contacted the organizer, and you will be selected for the Best Actress award at the White Bear Film Festival.â
How could she be willing to have all her hard work overturned?
After listening to her questioning, Joseph raised his head and looked at her, âIt seems I made it clear to you when I proposed. Itâs not that I need a wife, itâs that Noah needs a mother.â
