When the plane landed, Hayden saw a missed call as soon as he turned on his phone. After glancing at it, he flipped through his contacts and called Jeff.
âHayden, youâre back!â. As soon as the call came through, Jeffâs voice rang on the other end of the line.
Then Hayden asked, âCould you find the contact number for Addison at SG Group?â
Addison had shown his sternness on the first day of the official inspection. He hadnât been to the inspection since then, so he didnât have Addisonâs contact number.
âAddison?â Jeffâs tone showed surprise, but he replied after a moment, âThe operations department should have it. Iâll go check for you.â
As soon as the cab pulled onto the main road after leaving the airport, Hayden received Jeffâs message.
After comparing Addisonâs phone number with the missed call, Hayden squinted and closed the phone screen to recover from the surprise. She had no intention of looking at this missed call.
Addison was the one who had called her, and the purpose of her call was obvious.
Besides, Hayden believed he would call her back.
It was already late afternoon when she arrived at her apartment. Hayden showered in a good mood. He hummed some tunes and cleaned his apartment, preparing to bring the two children this weekend.
Before he could finish cleaning his place, Addisonâs call rang again.
âHello, who is this?â Hayden asked knowingly after the call connected.
âItâs me, Addison.â
The voice on the other end of the phone sounded a little nonchalant, unlike her friendly attitude at dinner earlier that day.
Hayden reassured, âWhat can I do for you?â
âAre you free? I need to talk to you.â
âIf I remember correctly, the person in charge of business cooperation between SG Group and ST Hotel is not me. I think you have called the wrong person.â
âIâm not looking for you in connection with the cooperation. It is a private matter.â
âWhat private matter do I have with you?â
âHayden.â Addison sounded a little impatient, as if she could barely suppress her temper, âStop asking when you know why. You think you can stand quietly by Josephâs side having me from me?â
Hayden almost laughed at hearing this.
Hayden originally thought how haughty she was, but she got so anxious when Hayden poked her a little. Joseph was right, she was nothing more than a spoiled young woman.
They made an appointment to meet at a cafe on Yuedu Street at three oâclock in the afternoon. It was the time when people had afternoon tea, but there werenât many customers in the café. When Hayden glanced at the menu, he immediately understood the reason for their meager business.
The cheapest cup of coffee cost $1690.
âDonât worry, Iâll pick up the tab.â Addisonâs voice sounded from across the street.
âWell, donât worry, I can pay for it.â Hayden closed the menu and smiled at the waitress, âA glass of water, please.â
Addison frowned with a surprised look on her face.
The waitress hesitated and looked at Addison.
âGive her a glass of water.â Addison said awkwardly.
It was probably because she was embarrassed that Hayden would order a drink that didnât cost money in such a high-end coffee shop.
Hayden seemed extremely calm, âI donât think Iâd take the time for a cup of coffee to talk to you.â
âYou want to not see my face that badly?â. Addison looked at her coldly, âSo you know about Josephâs relationship with me?â
âJoseph told me you were his sister.â
âHe told you?â Addison scoffed, âI seem to have overestimated you. How could you have thought what Joseph told you was the truth?â
âWasnât it?â Hayden looked at her calmly.
âResponsibly speaking, Iâm his fiancée. Since you donât want to talk to me, I can tell you clearly that my relationship with Joseph cannot be replaced by your few monthsâ relationship with him. Maybe it is possible before my return, but now I am back. Therefore, if you are an intelligent person, you must take the initiative to leave him. Donât humiliate yourself.â
âResponsibly speaking?â Hayden replied indifferently, âWas it also responsible of you to give up the engagement and get married in France? You already got married and divorced. If the marriage contract from your previous relationship can still be counted, then you really are ignorant of the world of love. Do you think Joseph is your backup plan?â
âWatch what you say!â. Addisonâs face took on a frightened expression, âWhat backup plan? Iâve never thought like that. Did you say this in front of Joseph, too?â.
âArenât you very sure of yourself, do you think what I said will affect your place in his heart?â. Hayden felt it was ridiculous, âYou were the one who didnât want him in the first place. Why would you think I would come back to you now that you want him? Even if I take a step back and give him back to you, donât you think you should ask him about his feelings first?â.
âAs long as you leave his side, Josephâs heart will come back to me no matter what he thinks now.â
When Hayden heard her words, she felt that she had really overestimated this woman. She thought she was a woman of high rank, but now it seemed that she was just a naive and shameless young woman.
Then, Haydenâs phone suddenly rang. After glancing at the screen, Hayden looked at Addison and faintly said, âWait until I finish answering this call.â
Seeing this attitude of his, Addison became even angrier.
Hayden pressed the answer button in front of him.
âMr. Beckham.â
ââ¦â.
âI donât have anything to do this weekend, so Iâm planning to take the two kids to my house for two days. Iâll pick them up on Friday night.â
ââ¦â.
âOkay, weâll have dinner together. Joseph is not back yet, the progress of the project in P-Town is still moving forward. He will probably be free after these two daysâ.
ââ¦â.
As Hayden answered the call, the expression on Addisonâs face got even worse.
After ending the call, Hayden looked at Addison and said, âI have to go now. If you still have something to say, hurry up.â
âYouâ¦â Addison gritted her teeth angrily, âYou need to walk away Joseph. This is a warning.â
âThen Iâm telling you I have to leave now.â Hayden stood up, âBy the way, I have a gentle reminder for you. If you plan to meet and talk about this sort of thing with someone else, remember to bring money or something equivalent. You canât trade anything for anything.â
After saying that, Hayden felt perked up in an instant and left the seat with his wallet.
Addisonâs angry tone sounded behind her, âI thought you were a woman of principle, but it turns out youâll do anything for money, too. How much do you want?â
Hayden stopped her pacing for a moment, but didnât turn around.
âYou seem to be pretty good at the job. I used to wonder why you left Joseph for an unreliable man, but now I understand. You may really have a problem with your brain.â
She had said it all so clearly, but Addison still couldnât understand her words. This afternoon âteaâ with Addison made her feel that she had exaggerated her preparations about this woman.
Addison was trembling with rage. She had never been humiliated like this before. She felt rage at not being able to get a word in edgewise when she saw Hayden leave the cafeteria.
A blue-gray figure walked past her and sat down directly in front of her, âAre you okay?â
The womanâs voice sounded very sweet and concerned. Addison lifted her head, mumbled dissatisfied, âIâm fine, who are you, donât you have your own seat?â
The woman across from her didnât answer, but twisted the corner of her lips and asked, âDo you know why Hayden appears so confident and saintly in front of you?â
Addison was stunned.
