Chapter 28



This phrase reminded Violet of something.

Indeed, Joseph was a person who always persisted in his own thing without thinking about what others said. He seemed to openly obey Harrison’s words, but privately he could still do whatever he wanted. So, to make sure the marriage would go through, he just had to make sure Joseph wouldn’t change his mind.

That night, Joseph and his son stayed at the old mansion all night.

Joseph initially thought Harrison had something to tell him, but after receiving a call, he directly waved the maids to clean the room. Then he locked himself in the study.

“Has Grandfather been busy lately?” Joseph looked at the butler suspiciously.

The butler said calmly and firmly. “Lately, sir has been keeping in touch with friends, but I’m not very clear on the details. Stay here while you wait for the master to finish his call.”

However, the call lasted until midnight. Joseph had already read an entire book in English to Noah and Noah finally fell asleep. Joseph also kept yawning, looked at the clock and saw that it was eleven o’clock. He decided not to wait any longer and went straight to bed.

At midnight, Hayden got up to get a drink of water. When he was in the living room, he saw that the light in Stella’s room was still on. He immediately frowned and walked over.

Stella’s voice rang in the room.

“You never told me that there is such a troublesome person. If you told me, I won’t let my mommy go there, he’s too much trouble.”

Hayden opened the door directly. He frowned and asked. “Stella, what are you doing at midnight, why haven’t you gone to bed?”.

Stella hurriedly hung up the phone. She turned her head and her face looked frightened, both her pupils twitching.

“Nothing, I’m on the phone with Alayna.”

Hearing this, Hayden’s eyes lit up, “Yes? I have something to tell her, give me the phone, I’ll talk to her for a while.”

“No.” Stella hid the phone behind her, “I already hung up, she says she’s going to sleep.”

“Huh?”

Hayden was slightly disappointed but didn’t suspect anything else. “Well, hurry off to bed. It’s already too late, the kids should go to bed early.”

“Understood.” Stella nodded, but her eyebrows were furrowed and she looked worried, “Mom, I just heard some bad news, do you want to know?”

Hayden’s face stiffened. “Your godmother got into another fight with a client?”.

Although Alayna’s name sounded like she was a nice person, her personality was anything but. She had a fiery temper and was good at martial arts. If she encountered a customer with a temper that she detested, it was common for her to beat them up.

At the time, Hayden was a little nervous.

“No.” Stella shook her head repeatedly, “It’s not Alayna’s business, it’s Mom’s.”

“Me?” Hayden pointed to his own nose.

“Yes.” Stella nodded and sighed with a teary face, “Mommy, I don’t think your second marriage is going to happen anymore.”

“Second marriage?” Hayden was confused.

“I heard that your boss, Joseph is getting married.”

Hearing this, Hayden was slightly stunned.

The matter that Joseph was marrying Violet had been all over the recent group and it really sounded like a true fact. Besides, Violet had been going to the group’s headquarters frequently recently and didn’t mind the news at all. Joseph didn’t seem to have the will to explain it either, so everyone tacitly thought it was true.

But what did the fact that Joseph was getting married have to do with her?

“What do you mean?”

“The gentleman is handsome and rich. He’s a good man, tall, rich and handsome. If Mama marries him, I can lead a comfortable life. But everything comes too late, if I don’t take the chance, he’ll marry someone else.”

Now only Hayden understood what she meant. This girl had not given up on finding her a husband.

Amused, she poked Stella’s head out and said. “What kind of ideas do you have in your little brain? What do I care if he marries or not? He’s just my boss, don’t think about something that’s not likely to happen, go to bed now.”

Stella went back to bed and lay down. She felt sad, her golden opportunity was lost. Hayden just shook his head helplessly, turned off the light and closed the door.

After that day, Hayden gradually prepared all the things Stella needed to go to school. He deliberately sent her to school early Monday morning.

After all, local schools were different from foreign schools. So he was a little worried that Stella would be able to adapt well to the environment.

Coincidentally, Joseph also sent Noah to school that day.

“Don’t you think it’s better to let Noah stay home to have lessons with a tutor? Why all of a sudden do you want to send him to school?” Inside the car, Violet asked a seemingly casual question.

Ever since Joseph mentioned the marriage issue to her, she became more and more active regarding Joseph’s family and ST Group matters and put a lot of effort into them. Especially when she learned that Noah was going to school today, she purposely went to his house early in the morning to accompany him, showing a caring look.

“An environment with more people will help him recover better.” Joseph showed no expression.

If it wasn’t for Noah insisting that he wanted to go to school, Joseph really wouldn’t have intended to send him. There were a lot of people at the school and a place with a lot of people would have a lot of issues. At that point, he might not be able to worry about all of Noah’s issues.

“If Noah wants, we can give him some younger siblings in the future, so he won’t be alone.”

After uttering these words, Noah’s face paled, holding his small drawing board and trembling inside the car seat.

Children born of a bad woman were destined to be very bad.

Joseph’s brow furrowed as well, “It’s not in my plans. It’s enough for me to have Noah.”

These words made Violet’s face turn pale and blue. What did he mean? Did he mean that he had no will to have a child with her even after marriage?

The atmosphere in the car was not pleasant at all. Luckily, the school was not far away and they had arrived just then.

The driver opened the door. Joseph took Noah by the hand and got out of the car, heading for the school gate. After two steps, Noah abruptly withdrew his hand from Joseph’s and walked toward a figure.

Hayden was talking to the assistant principal, Rita, who was coming to welcome them. Suddenly, she felt something hug her legs and, when she looked down, she saw a good-looking face. Noah was hugging her by the leg and moving his mouth with an aggrieved look on his face.

“Noah.” Hayden hastily squatted down, “You’re a student at this school too, aren’t you, why do you look sad, haven’t you woken up yet?”

Noah shook his head with a grumble.

Stella, who was standing to the side, was excited to see Noah. She took his hand and said. “I didn’t know you were here too. How nice, I won’t be alone! I’ll take care of you from now on.”

Side by side, Joseph and Violet approached each other. Seeing that Noah was very close to Hayden and his daughter, Violet stared at Hayden’s side face for a long time, looking somewhat familiar.

“Miss Kidman.” Hayden noticed Violet and immediately stood up straight, “Hello.”

“You know me?” Violet frowned.

“Who doesn’t know the best actress Violet Kidman?”. Hayden smiled, “Besides, she checked into the ST Hotel last time and I was the one who brought people to wait on her.”

“You’re an employee of the ST Group?” Violet froze slightly. Suddenly, she remembered something and asked, “Is Downey your last name?”
