One employee walked by.
âGood morning, Miss Hayâ¦â. Said one of them.
The other dragged him away before he finished speaking. âDidnât you see that Miss Hayden was flirting with her boyfriend?â
The other sneered, âYou idiot!â.
Hayden kept her gaze down even when the employees were gone.
Embarrassed, she rubbed her cheek.
âYouâre shy, youâre so red in the face.â
âIâm not!â She groaned, âItâs because of Belinda, Iâm just angry.â
âIs that so?â
âIt is.â She coughed dryly, âMr. Finance Department Director, you must now register with the Personnel Department. There is a procedure in our company that you must follow.â
âYou didnât follow the procedure when you hired me.â Said Joseph, âPeople here are still going to think I got the position through the back door regardless of whether I respect your policy or not.â
âThe whole city knows who you are, Mr. Joseph. Itâs a privilege to have you here, cut the crap and leave.â
They both knew it was convenient for Joseph to work here, but he wouldnât stay long. Joseph Beckham, the only grandson of old Master Beckham, the only legitimate successor to the ST Group, would inherit the wealth and power again sooner or later.
However, working here was Josephâs own idea.
It was killing two birds with one stone. With the position he was in now, Joseph would have access to the Downeyâs ledgers to fix their financial problems if there were any. And when the news reached Harrison, he could rest easy knowing his grandson was working with his girlfriend. Joseph would soon be back at the ST Group.
At Beckham Manor, Harrison cracked an exquisite inkstone upon hearing the news.
âSon of a bitch! What is he thinking going to work for the Downey Group? Heâd rather people laugh and humiliate me than ask for his forgiveness.â
âSir.â In Josephâs defense, Mark said, âHeâs misunderstood Joseph. I kick him out, he has to do something to feed himself, heâs defending your honor by doing it. Do you know what people are saying out there?â
âWhat?â Harrison asked, his eyebrows raised slightly.
âTheyâre saying that you hate Joseph, and that youâd rather let an outsider take over your company than let Joseph have it. He knows Joseph, and a lot of people have held a grudge against him, but he never dared say anything. Now that heâs fallen, everyone is trying to stick the knife in his back.â
âBastards.â Harrison pounded the table loudly. Strolling into his lair, he then demanded of Mark, âMark, go get Joseph.
