Hayden didnât even change his expression, âI was on leave when you went there.â
Ted frowned, but didnât ask further.
To him, he really didnât care if Rebekah brought a woman with her. He just wanted the money. He really hadnât expected Rebekah to have saved so much money these past few years and be able to raise the money in such a short time.
Thinking about this, he suddenly regretted not asking for more.
Looking at her greedy face, Hayden felt nauseous. If it wasnât for this man, Rebekah wouldnât have led such a hard life and Joseph wouldnât have become such an indifferent person because he didnât have a loving family.
It was this evil man was like a parasite in search of profit.
Outside it was getting dark and quiet.
Glancing at his watch, Hayden noticed that the yellow-headed thug who was guarding Benjamin was dozing and yawning against the load-bearing wall. With the corner of his eyes he saw that Ted couldnât stay upright and had to smoke a cigarette every few minutes to wake himself up.
Hayden coughed lightly and immediately heard a voice from the microphone in his ear.
âRoger that, stand by.â
There were two special forces teams dressed in riot gear crawling on the ground and surrounding the entire place. One of the playful female special soldiers climbed up the pipe along the wall after receiving the gesture from the team leader.
She immediately closed the second floor guardâs throat and injected him with anesthesia before he could realize that there was someone climbing up the wall.
A camouflaged face then appeared under the dim light and only someone who knew her could tell it was Andrea.
Andreaâs expression was quite intense. She had never saved a hostage with such emotion after taking part in so many exercises. At this moment, the sound of her almost inaudible footsteps was completely masked by the sound of the wind in the darkness.
After doing a few somersaults, he successfully hid in a corner of the second floor.
The second floor was quite open and, apart from the load-bearing wall, there was almost no shelter. Those outlaws would definitely see her as soon as she got close to them, so she couldnât play with fire.
Outside it was already daylight.
âCall Archie to see how things are going now.â
Ted put out his cigarette impatiently and said, âItâs abysmally cold in here. Tell that woman Iâve changed my mind. Iâll kill this boy and the woman heâs brought with her immediately if she doesnât bring me the money by ten oâclock.â
âYes.â The yellow-headed thug immediately woke up and dialed a number while yawning.
âShit.â
Hayden suddenly heard a low but anxious voice from the microphone.
His heart immediately gave a little flutter and he feared that the special soldier waiting in the band had already arrested this Archie.
After a while, the yellow-headed thug was finally able to contact Archie. Then he yelled, âArchie, how come you havenât called us all night? Whatâs going on now, has the bank opened yet?â
The call was on speakerphone and the whole floor could hear Archieâs voice.
âThe bank wonât open until nine, we have to wait longer.â
Hayden let out a sigh of relief, he wasnât quite sure if it was that the police were putting pressure on Archie or because they hadnât stopped him yet.
âTell that woman that our boss said weâll only wait for her until ten, she has to bring the money fast. Weâre very cold here.â
Archie replied, âOkay, got it.â
Then the yellow-headed thug hung up the phone and looked at Ted. âBoss.â
âYeah.â Ted nodded, but as he was about to turn away, he suddenly froze, âSomethingâs up here.â
Turning around, he looked at Hayden and his eyes suddenly darkened. âTie up this woman and that boy. Archieâs been arrested.â
Haydenâs expression immediately changed and he took a step back unconsciously. âWhat do you want to do?â
God only knows what Ted had heard on that call.
The yellow-headed thug seemed to notice and immediately walked toward Hayden. Then he shouted angrily, âHow dare you call the police.â
He then grabbed Hayden by the shoulder along with another thug and dragged her straight towards Ted amidst her shrieking.
âWhat should we do, boss?â
Hayden then felt her hair being pulled all over with a pair of hands and she just shrieked with an expression of pure pain, but didnât dare struggle.
As his hair was being pulled, Ted saw Hayden up close and ended up ripping a microphone the size of a fingernail from his ear. He was suddenly livid with anger.
âI remember I told you Iâd kill this kid if you dared call the cops.â
Then one of the thugs merely pointed the gun in his hand at the unconscious Benjamin.
âDonât shoot!â Hayden shouted hurriedly.
At the same time, Andrea who was standing 20 meters behind her also shouted and pointed her submachine gun at the thug holding the pistol.
Then, almost at the same time, the special forces from the first and second floors appeared and surrounded the whole place. By then, only Ted and his three goons were left in the open ground on the second floor. The rest of the goons had been eliminated.
Tedâs face immediately darkened. âDonât you come! Or Iâll shoot him dead right now!â.
âYou dare?â Hayden suddenly calmed down and said, âYou wonât stand a chance of getting out of here safely if you dare hurt me or Benjamin.â
Then Andrea shouted over the loudspeaker, âListen to us. Release the hostages and we can talk things over.â
âBoss, what should we do?â
Those thugs were worried and didnât know what to do.
âDonât panic!â.
Ted spat and grabbed Hayden violently. Then he yelled at Andrea, âCut the crap. Give me $20 million and get a car ready to send me to the port. Or Iâll kill her right now.â
Hayden subconsciously shut down.
If they really did what Ted told them to do, Ted probably wouldnât let her and Benjamin leave even if he got to the airport. He would simply kill them both to get revenge for calling the police.
Rebekah was right. He was just desperate.
âCalm down.â Andrea looked worried and hurriedly replied, âWeâll immediately prepare what you want.â
Then suddenly they heard the sound of a car engine. The light from the car was so bright that they couldnât even open their eyes.
A white Porsche raced through the dust. Then a tall black figure stepped out of the car.
âHereâs $20 million, all in cash.â
